  1. Hello from Cali! Im happy to be here and look forward to having many good conversations about metal detectors and treasure hunting 😃
  2. Yup. 13 yr old! I started when I was 12, and I live in San Jose, Ca, but I am right now in Korea (with my Metal detector, of course.) Thank you in advanced for the welcomes! 🙂 (my detectors are in my gear-used) Josh
  3. Hello to all.... After using a variety of detectors since the late 80's (BountyHunter BFO, RedBaron, IB1OO / Whites 4900d to name a few) I moved up to a Whites MXT E-trac in 2002 from Rick at Desert Outfitters hoping to do a little nugget shooting... sadly life happened and I haven't used any of them for the last decade or so. I now have more free time for metal detecting and look forward to some nugget and meteorite hunting. It's nice to learn the MXT is still a contender. Before purchasing I called Jimmy Sierra for advice. He insisted it needed the 6x10 Eclipse DD and sent a free coupon. I also have the 5.3 eclipse in addition to the stock 9.50 coil, each on their own stems. I found this forum as a link on the Nugget Shooter forum while looking for information on my MXT. The above intro is posted there as well. Thanks to all. .....OneAcre
  4. Hello, I think I am supposed to share a bit about myself so you all know who you're talking to. I live in Southwest Washington and became a treasure hunter at a very young age, digging old outhouses and wells for bottles when I was a preteen, more than four decades ago. I recently took up treasure hunting on a trip to Alaska when I decided to buy a gold pan and see what I could find. That was about 5 years ago, and I have since gold prospected many states and purchased a gold monster 1000 a couple years ago which I've used successfully most recently in Puerto Rico. Several months ago My wife surprised me with my first general use metal detector, a Garrett 300, and last month I purchased an Equinox 800. I'm quite new to metal detecting and have a lot to learn. I've attached a few pictures of recent finds. I started a little YouTube channel to document my activity, and it's listed under golden pennies prospecting. Looking forward to connecting with all of you. Thanks for having me in the forum! Troy

    Hello

Hi all. Long time listner, first time poster. Rather than a rambling introduction I have a Question. It appears I am in the market for a new detector. I have an original Fisher Gold Bug in an honest "new condition", I love it and never thought I would part with it but.... do you think it would be an easy sell, or perhaps none wants these old antiques? What would be a fair price? Only reason for me to sell it would be to fund a Gold Bug DP....if I go that route, may go for the Minelab Vanquish 540 and keep the GB.....or maybe couple other detectors I'm mulling over. Said another way, make me an offer if interested.
  6. Hi Folks Just a quick hello to everyone on the forum. It’s good to be a part of your community. I’m another bloke from downunder that struggles with gold fever. I live on the south coast of New South Wales and try to get out for a play in the bush at least a couple of times every week. My toys include a 7, 6 and 2300. Hope to be able to learn from some of you wizards and contribute where ever I can. cheers Les
  7. Hello folks. A few days ago we (the wife, the dog and me) vacationed and my wife took some images. Hope you all can enjoy some days off this year to a place you can relax. All the Best to you all and stay safe and healthy.
  8. Good Day All, Have a Great Father's Day!🏆🍻 The only day of the year that we get a legitimate grief free day to detect! Well, some of us anyway!!🤯🤣 💍💰📿🍀 👍👍
  9. Howdy Gents, First i wanna thank Steve, for birthin this baby,And all the rest of ya that have contributed info,as a fng with new found burnin fever to find Things,Which seems the Easy part,as ive got more questions now than when i started😁 i had no hope of ever stumbling onto such a site as this. Ive been diggin only since Plandemic "Lockdowns" began. Im pretty sure this site is my best find yet👍👍 i started readin about 4.30 pm yest and finally got around to creating an account about 3.30am this morn. I hadnt hardly clicked verification email an started coffee when i lost internet. Damdest thing is im sure i learned more in those few hours then i couldve Ever learned on my own But,my initial goal was to figure out which detector was gonna give me biggest bang for buck,so what i learned, was as usual, what i Assumed was All wrong😁 ive literally went from garret at max thru amfibio an nox 600 an back an forth thru the at pro an gold an considering Whites, when i stumbled onto F5 an that was dam near it,Then i saw the thread about Bounty Hunter 3300 for 99 bucks and Steve and several others musings on that subject. I was then considering just gitn a F5 with smaller coil an gitn another 4"coil for this here Canslaw poptop killer i already have and just learnin how to make it run or Bust😁 im a greenhorn but i think now,but i digress🤣 that it would mebbe behoove me to mebbe just coupla more buttons or knobs to play with🤔 Dammedifiknow. Ok lifes short and ive got lots of mistakes yet to make so, Im gonna just shutup and listen as ive dug buckets of junk and few ihp,s few silvers an 1 buffalo bunches of brass an few pocketknives. Probably enuff half rotted stinkin lincolns to buy that 99 buck bounty hounter. My problem and naggin fear is Im missin and or leavin stuff because of such trashy areas. I do appreciate greatly Any knowledge yall care to share,i really would like a lil upgrade but i want to know how to use the things. Im very aware a 5grand machine same with rifle isnt gonna make Meat where there is none. I do think from amount of junk and age of some of it,theres more to b had? Im Brian and im situated in southern Mississippi not far from coast. Thanks,😁 I Think, once again for mebbe feeding a new addiction. Fair winds Following seas my brothers from other mothers. Lets see where this adventure leads.✌
  10. Hi Goldpanner Here. I created the UKGPA as firstly a forum where people could discuss Panning and also to meet up (We did have 2 great trips to France) and also to try and put forward a solid basis for discussion with the Authorities who wanted to limit or even ban panning. Due to ill Health I had to back away from the Forum and did indeed pass it over to Julie and Dave and they did a great job, untill certain people from other forums and those against panning etc decided to create havoc on it. Julie and Dave then simply shut it down as they were unable to control the scumbags. It was a quite active group with panning trips organised in the UK and also France and also a place where panners could get decent unbiased info and also by decent cheap equipment (including my Supersluice) So, after some serious health problems, including more recently two bouts of Covid I am once agin up on two legs and looking forwards to returning to Panning In France and Spain in 2022. If anyone wants to contact me I have a facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/gold.panner.1650/ and would be happy to chat with anyone, maybe even here. So good luck and good health to everyone detecting and panning
  11. Will be in town for the week and may have some time for detecting. Anyone have any time to meet for a hunt or leads for relics/silver coin possibilities? Thanks
  12. G'day from lovely downunder. I thought I'd introduced myself but evidently not, apologies. I had a GP3000 and 3500 many years ago. Had to sell up due to divorce but kept my Sovereign GT for the beach and parks. Back on the hunt now so will be picking up a GM soon when they come back up on special, and something a bit better down the road when I'm a better off financially. Just thought I'd say hi,,,and yes I have an old banjo LOL.

  14. Hi, I'm a old (age over 50) detectorist from Italy. I used a lot of m.d. in 26 years (various model of Minelab, Whites, Tesoro, XP, Fisher, Garrett and the latest Rutus), but i love so much the Whites Spectrum XLT. This is for me the best detector of all time. I hope to know news and interesting contents about the magic m.d. world! Greetings from Italy
  15. Well where to start...I started about 9 years ago with a X-terra 705 because after research it seemed like a great machine for coins and relics as well as gold. I live by about 5 miles from the beaches of Southern California so off I went. First day out, found a diamond ring! Woooo I'm hooked! Since then I spend many hours on the sand finding hundreds of coins and only a few more pay rings. Still having a great time. I soon moved on to the gold fields of the El Paso mountains. It took about 10 trips out before I found my fist nugget. It was a nice 1 gram chunk of pay! I was elated to say the least. Since then I got rid of the 705 and went for the Garrett AT Gold. What a great machine! Very much like the 705 but it has a screen reading the 705 didn't...but they both have about the same sensitivity and depth. Love both machines really. I soon came across a Gold Bug2 and that's when I started finding gold like crazy. Although that machine has a learning curve I adapted to it pretty quickly. It's been about 5 years swinging the Gold Bug2 and I can say I still have dreams of finding the big gold nug. I'm here to read how some of you find those "off the beaten path" spots and hope to meet a friend or two. Happy Detecting!
  16. I have some unexpected extra time on my hands and am going to give metal detecting another try after quite a few years. I was on a couple of forums that might not exist anymore. I took the detectors out of the closet and brushed off the cobwebs and dust. I have a Troy Shadow X2, Tesoro Bandido II, and a Whites GMT. I mainly used the Shadow for hunting for relics and found a few. I recently sold a Tesoro Eldorado to a friend and hopefully he'll get the detecting bug and we can go out and find something interesting. I'd like to resume the hobby and search for relics, gold, and meteorites out here in the desert. This is a great forum with expert reviews on detectors and many informative posts. I hope to learn quite a bit and enjoy the hobby.
  17. Finally got onto the forum.
  18. I am retiring at the end of August. I will be pulling my 5th wheel around the US hunting nuggets and relics. I have been mostly vacation detecting for a couple of years now. I am really looking forward to doing A LOT more of it with way better equipment. I have met a lot of other detectorists out there and what I'm looking most forward to is making friends with more of you. I get a lot of enjoyment from sitting around the campfire swapping stories, getting to know people and absorbing some of the vast knowledge of how and where to hunt. I hope to see y'all down the road!
  19. Joined this forum and wanted to say hi. Started detecting in January when I purchased an Equinox. Have only been detecting on the beach areas around Fort Myers so far and love it.

    New Guy

Hello Frank here . Retired and just Hunt coins and rings. Been detecting 20 plus years and looking to get myself a deep detector to reopen my older areas. Plus start getting some refresher pointers from the pro's.
  22. Hello, I am new to the gold prospecting topic. Unfortunately there are almost no forums or websites with gold prospecting related content in Germany due to the fact that areas where it is possible to find gold are relatively rare compared to the USA. Actually I am looking to pan some gold in the creeks near my village. I am just trying to find a tiny bit of gold in order to proof if the old "tales" in my village about the gold which was found in the small creeks of the so called "blackcreeksystem" (part to the Eder river) nearby are true or not. Due to the fact that I haven't been lucky so far, I am now looking to get some tips about how to do it right and how to improve my DIY equipment.
  23. Hello from the Bay Area. I'm glad I found this site. Looks like a wealth of knowledge and experience, not to mention the great amount of information available here. I've been prospecting and metal detecting for a couple years, so I'm still deep in the learning phase of my hobby. I'll be getting a new Gold Monster 1000, so I'll pay close attention to the articles and forum threads I run across on the topic.
  24. Greetings from United states. I have been surfing the net lately and from what I have looked at here this would be a nice play to hangout, I joined the forum, so that I would be able to get as much info as possible, and you all seem to enjoy sharing what knowledge you have with other, judging by the posts I`ve read so far since I have been looking. I hope to learn from others as well as contribute in any way I can. Thank you!
  25. Bought myself a Minelab Equinox 800 this morning. I can't wait to get it. I have taken about a six year break from detecting with a White's MXT. I'm looking forward to getting back into this in a big way. Retirement fits me!!!
