  1. Yesterday, I used my APTX LL headphones exclusively for the first time during a 90 minute hunt with my 600. + sign indicating paired LL was active and all working well. What I found though was that the Low Latency lag of 40ms is still quite noticeable, and slows down recovery of finds. Maybe I'm oversensitive to lag, but there is clearly a difference between wired direct (or speaker), and APTX LL. Having to backtrack for a signal that was just heard, and finding that exact spot again is a little frustrating when I'm used to instantly seeing the position of the coil when hearing the detector signal on wired HP's or on speaker. Waggling is also slightly different. The hands-free, wire-free benefit is certainly good and convenient, but for me, it just didn't feel right at 40ms lag. At this point, I will probably NOT use LL headphones except when it is absolutely necessary for whatever reason. I think that the WM08 that will come with my 800 will likely be a much better solution, with a 17ms Lag vs 40ms with LL. Certainly, the LL's are a big step beyond 100ms BlueTooth, but still not "just right". As for the LL Headphones...I own the ArchMage SoundClean9's ($45 at Amazon), and they are really nice, comfortable, and sound great. They have a 50 hour operational capacity following a full 4-hour charge. They fit my big head, even over a Minelab baseball cap. There are a lot of "Pro's" about these headphones, but also a few cons that will be found in other headphones as well. Hunting in high temperature, high humidity areas like Florida, I am concerned about the longevity and durability of the ear cushions as they are saturated by salty sweat while hunting in the field. I think the only real solution is pure rubber cushions, which would obviously not be as comfortable. Not sure if any manufacturer has a real solution for this problem. The ArchMage headphones controls are well located, and they work well, but are not raised and palpable without knowing exactly where they are while wearing the headphones. Not that big a deal, but raised buttons would have been a better design. I do really like the headphones, and may use them wired in cooler conditions when warranted, without APTX...just direct. So...this is all just my own $.02. Others may differ...but most importantly, this is my 200th post on this forum, and now I'm SILVER!!! ?
  2. Steve (and everyone), I might have missed it, but are you mainly hunting in 50 tones then? Thanks...
  3. Really curious to know how these Hungarian waterproof headphones are going for underwater use so far because a couple people do have them. loud underwater? comfortable? Other notes? I’m just so keen to hunt in the water and still no proper release date for the minelab phones! thank you ?
  4. Finally, they have arrived, now I can put the snorkel back on..... Extra long cable, 41" of straight cable from connector allowing you to Velcro under the arm and still have plenty of cable to the headphones. No cable having to dangle in front of your face! Loudness is good, preliminary garage tests show constant mid 70's decibels on a target with full volume on the machine settings. Fit is typical Koss yellows and can be improved with gel ear pads which will be on order shortly. Cliff
  5. My headphones arrived, and I fully charged them. Followed the directions for pairing with the 600. It pairs, but only to the basic Bluetooth symbol. I cannot pair to the Low Latency + symbol, and it clearly has some very discernable latency. I have no idea how to figure out whether it's the headphones or the 600 which is not pairing to full APTX LL. I need help! Any ideas? I tried Factory Reset on the 600 three times, and reset the pairing function on the headphones a number of times. No joy.
  6. I've been having problems with the audio breaking up and dropping out on my WM 08 wireless audio module. At first I thought it was my earbuds, made for Android phones which have an extra connection on the 1/8" plug. I've also tried Sennheiser sports earphones and Bose noise cancelling travel headphones both with standard 1/8" plugs. All have the same issue. I keep the module in the back of my CamelBak and think the combination of the water inside and my body is enough to shield the signal. It was unusable at the beach yesterday until I put the module in my front pocket, but it still was dropping out pretty regularly. Another theory, cellular tower interference. There was a portable cellular tower erected at the beach yesterday for Spring Break. I also have a tower near my house. Both are transmitting on 2147.5 Mhz according to my Network Cell Info app. I've tried finding the FCC info for the frequencies on the WM 08 but haven't had any luck. Anyone else having issues with the WM 08 wireless audio module? My ML 80 Bluetooth wireless headphones work great, but I wish I could use the WM 08 so I can wear a sun hat.
  7. So after my hassle with the MPOW's, and the continuing effort to get a full refund for the advertised Low Latency, but actually non-LL headphones, I went online and started researching. I was already aware of the BT80's, Tronds, and other APTX LL headphones, but I dug deeper. What I found was the ArchMage SoundClean-09 headphones that were a lot cheaper than the others, and had excellent reviews. I was certainly skeptical, but figured "what the hell", and ordered the readily available headphones from Amazon for $45.00 shipped (Prime). They arrived today, and I was fully expecting a repeat of the MPOWS as far as pairing was concerned. My worries were unfounded! The SoundCleans paired quickly with my 600 and with the LL "+" symbol. Awesome start! Ran the detector over some coins and the lag was virtually non-existent. Sound was very clean and precise. Music sounds great too! Microphone built in, with cell capabilities, as well as the song manipulation features of more expensive units. Avalable in black or mint green. The controls are not on par with the MPOWS, or others that have very palpable buttons, and there is no cover on the USB charging port, but for $20+ dollars less than competing headphones, I'm ecstatic. The headphones are close, but not quite full ear covering, and are extremely comfortable and without hot spots that would cause issues after a few hours. Even better is the TRUE almost 50 hours of operation after a full charge. (4 hours from fully discharged). The instructions are clear, and the company is apparently very Customer Service oriented. The warranty includes a "no questions asked" money-back return guarantee and a 12-month extended warranty. True APTX LL capability for a great price! Includes a nice carrying case that fits the rotating earpieces well to fit. Wired connection and charging cable included, along with some marketing incentives. The head band is very comfortable and adjustable for big heads...like mine! Lots of very positive reviews on Amazon and elsewhere, as well as a number of YouTube videos reviewing the phones! I have found MY wireless solution to the APTX LL dilemna for the 600! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0774YGR61/ref=twister_B07CH9B339?_encoding=UTF8&th=1 Cheers, Frank
  8. I got an update today from the USPS, stating that the MPOW APTX LL over-ear headphones I ordered from AliExpress have finally arrived in the USA after two weeks from China. I should have them by Tuesday or Wednesday and will post a review here once I have a chance to test them on my EQ600. The company's other headphones have received very positive reviews on a number of sites, so I expect that the new phones will also meet the high expectations. They were about $53.00 Shipped. 9. I made a waterproof connector using the cover plug for the WM - 8 module... using my Dremel I carefully cut a hole in the top and had to slightly widen the two ribs that come down inside the plug... becareful not to mar the edge of the plug where it seats against the O-ring ( red arrow) clean it all up with acetone or denatured alcohol... then use 3M 4000 sealant it's good for plastic! You can find it in any Marine store! I first screwed the plug in to the head of the machine then I coated the plastic of the 1/8 in headphone jack and inserted that through the hole I made making sure it plugs all the way into the machine if you're not sure turn it on and check! I then added the glob to the end to make sure it's sealed! Remember everybody you're at your own risk when you make anything for your machine! I have about ten hours on it!
  10. In a conversation with CDV he told me that a friend could use wired headphones and the factory supplied wireless headphones without one turning off the other. So I decided to try this with the WM08 instead with my son this afternoon to try and coach him as he was swinging! It worked GREAT. He did need some relief as the grip was a bit, as he put it "weird", and I swung for a while. Logan's second target was his first IHC! It was a fun afternoon and we both took some keepers home from a 1909 home with a tiny front yard. The owners were awesome and really into what I was doing. I tried to give him some of the stuff that he really seemed jazzed about, but he refused to take it. He used to be a troop leader and I was sure he was going to take the vintage cub scout button (keep finding cool buttons at 8). I am starting to feel very confident in how I have my machine setup for my hunts. Cool stuff is found all over the VID and I am just digging anything that has some depth (Still have a bone to pick with the loss of adjustable volume gain and inaccurate meter) AND it locks in hard. Logan really took to the 50 tones quick, quicker than I did, but is having a hard time visualizing where the target is under the coil. I know it will come with time and look forward to more of this great weather we had today in North East Ohio. Thanks for looking and here are some pictures! If you want to know what the VID was for any of this just ask. The land marker was something that the owner was excited to share and I thought it was a cool piece of Americana. When doing marker surveying of the Ravenna arsenal he came across one marker that had been broken and displaced when a channel was dug and he got permission to take it. Way cool! Logan's First IHC
  11. It’s being reported that the Minelab ML80 headphones that come with the Equinox 800 are made in China by Miccus. Specifically, the Miccus SR-71 Stealth Headphones. They do appear to be the same headphones, and at $60 probably less than the ML80 will cost from Minelab. Who knows, since Minelab is still not listing Equinox accessories for sale. Anyway, there are very many wireless alternatives out there, but I thought this might interest Equinox 600 owners at least. Most sites showing the SR-71 for sale are currently sold out, so perhaps people are taking advantage of this already. Miccus SR-71 Owner’s Manual
  12. For all those wondering about latency/delay, and how "fast" standard Bluetooth (SBC), aptX, and aptX-Low Latency actually are, as compared to a "wired" connection -- here is a great video which plays an audio/video clip through two speakers simultaneously... FIRST, they play wired simultaneously with aptX-LL -- 32ms - 40ms delay/latency Second, they play wired simultaneously with aptX -- around 100 ms delay/latency Last, they play wired simultaneously with SBC (standard Bluetooth) -- around 250 ms delay/latency This is a GREAT way to actually HEAR the differences -- hearing both speakers being compared simultaneously allows you to really experience exactly what kind of "delay" or "latency" you are dealing with, with each different source (compared to a "wired" connection). My conclusion -- aptX-LL has NO noticeable delay, aptX has a tiny bit, but I believe it would be nearly, if not totally, insignificant for detecting purposes, and SBC (standard Bluetooth) has significant delay that would make locating targets "visually" (in terms of location of the target in the ground relative to the coil location, based on tone) somewhat difficult/troublesome. Steve
  13. A wonder if anyone has tried to connect there apple ear pods to the equinox be cool if you could ?
  14. Hello, First time poster here, but have been reading a lot the past few weeks to learn and decide if the equinox would be a good upgrade for me. I decided it would be and gained permission from the boss (that would be my wife) to get a nox 600. Since the nox is waterproof, I thought I might like to try doing some detecting in freshwater locations. The manual states that the headphone jack is waterproof, so why would I need a waterproof headphone connection? What would happen if I used a cheap pair of headphones to see if water detecting is something I like to do?
  15. Yesterday, I was swinging on Melbourne Beach, which was a mistake, because I didn't realize that they had recently brought in tons and tons of new sand to replenish the beach from Hurricane Irma damage. Very few targets. That being said, I was using a pair of headphones with a 1/8th plug. They worked really well with threshhold and other volumes set to counter wind noise on the beach. The problem is that the speaker would sound off as well when any non-ferrous target was swept...and at full volume. Even felt the vibration from speaker. I also noticed that the headphone icon on the display would momentarily blank out whenever that happened. I'm confused. Don't want the speaker active when I'm on headphones. Any ideas?? P.S. - One coin (clad quarter) for 2.5 hours of swinging! Ugh. Found a number of small bottles used for drawing medication into a syringe. Hoping it was for someone with diabetes on the beach, and not some other nefarious purpose, like steroids, or other nasties. Pull tabs all registered at 14. screwtops at 17-20.
  16. How is the B&Z Booster set up with the 7000? Thanks.
  17. There is a very noticeable latency with the wireless ML 80 headphones that come with the equinox 800, the WM-08 module really is a lot faster (like the manual says) and makes it so much easier to visualize the target in the ground. There will always be some latency due to processing the detector has to do but the ML-80 headphones really made it painful to pinpoint and visualize a targets location IMO and this probably applies to all aptx and aptx LL (low latency) devices I’m afraid. Just thought I’d put that out there for anyone who’s had trouble or wants to enhance their detector further! ?
  18. I have an equinox 600 and 800. I am using the APTX Bluetooth headphones on the 800. I have been using the WM08 wireless module with the 600. However, the dangling wires were still annoying with the module in a shirt pocket. I experimented with attaching the module to my hat but this was awkward. So i tried something different- I wound excess cordage around headband of my Amazon basics 32 ohm headphones. Then i fastened the module to one side of the earmuffs with black duct tape. What resulted is shown here. It is very convenient this way , like the apt x is. The only thing is I'm afraid the tape will get messy in hot weather, so next I will fasten the module with elastic or ziptes. I'm using them with my 600 today.
  19. Been wearing headphones while detecting for years. Now that we’re running the GPZ I see some respected GPZ users on here that run without them. Would love to ditch the ‘phones... Thoughts?
  20. just what are these headphones? are they only Minelab headphones? how will they compare to the wireless XP Deus wireless ones? i'm familiar with the wireless module but have no idea what headphones i might want to use IF i do use the WM8.
  21. I have seen several comment about the somewhat dim LEDs on the headphone making it hard to determine when they are turned off. I also initially had that problem and got home to find mine still on when I got out of the sun. My procedure now is to leave the controller on while turning the headphones off. When turning off is successful the headphone symbol disappears from the screen and sound is heard from the controller handle. Seems much surer than trusting my old eyes to determine the status on the LEDs.
  22. New 800 charged last night for an old rodeo grounds hunt with Tiftaaft today. I've pulled a barber quarter and dime as well as a buffalo and wheats out of there so my expectations are always high. I only found a few coins, one wheat, but Tiftaaft has a good story he may share. The tones in my headphones sound muffled, not clean/crisp. I tried Tim's wired phones supplied with his 600 and the sound was much crisper. Is this normal, if so, I need to get an adapter and hook up my Pro Golds.
  23. I was was on my iPhone and realized that my wireless headphones were still paired Up.. They pair up to my phone as well as my Equinox every time I turn them on.. I had accidentally left them on after I had been doing some testing in the house earlier.. I have seen the little headphone paired icon on my phone before but this time I noticed a little battery indicator next to the icon.. Not sure how accurate it is but it was nice to see.. Not knowing how full my headphones were always kind of bugged me.. We will see with time how accurate this little indicator is.. Bryan
  24. Hey guys, long time reader and first time poster. Basically I’m curious to know how hard it would be to splice the equinox connector onto the end of a set of amphibians designed around the at-pro and if there would be any complications like audio still coming through external speaker etc? it sounds simple but I’m just not sure if I’ve overlooked something, I’ve got a set of GG amphibians brand new that were sent as replacements for ones that flooded, they claim that detectorpro now have a pressure tank and have tested these so hopefully they live if I do use them, if I can’t use them then I’ll sell them. cheers Ed
  25. I have two WM 12's, purchased the second some time after the getting the first. The second WM, when turned, on will not work without the original being turned on, is this normal? do I need to do something different to make it work like the original?
