  1. The last couple of days we've had a hard wind blowing in the afternoon. It is not deep energy like swells but it does stir up the bottom a bit depending upon the tide. The first trip I didn't find much but the knife and a couple of cheap rings. At least that is what I thought. These are the finds from the first day. This was the 'cheap' ring upon closer examination. This was the depth of the knife. It was right at 20 inches. These were today's finds in nearly the same area. At the beginning of the hunt was this better knife. It was open when I found it. Then the remainder of the finds. This was a cheap ring. Two day total of 3 rings and 2 knives. Mitchel
  2. I haven't had a lot of time to post lately because work has been picking up, so I added some pictures of my favorite of my better finds. So in my town there was a water main break last Friday and it shut down one of the main thoroughfare through town. I took the detour Saturday, and realized it took me past a park I had only detected once with the simplex. I hated this park because of intense emi, and few signals. There is no baseball backstop, no playground, no soccer goal, but every time I've driven past or stopped to watch, there has been someone throwing a ball for their dog. All week I have been wondering how the new equinox would do there. After work, I stopped by and started working in the area where I seen the dog owners stand. Found a bunch of change, a bunch of pull tabs, but on the 12th to 15th signal I got a solid 17 that just sounded too good to pass up. I started digging thinking it was a bottle cap, and ok it popped the 14k ring. Very next signal 10 feet away was the 925 horse ring. It came in at 28-29 and I was thinking quarter the whole time. All the other finds have been since getting the equinox early February.
  3. And I think this is it. The area is only 20 feet x 40 feet that has been giving targets and its like there is a line that you cross and all goes quiet. I detected in all directions and with this being soft sand I was able to scrub the sand so could see where I had detected and not missed much. I will just have to keep an eye on it for now for any more changes. This little area has treated me well!! Good Luck to All
  4. I took my son down to a beach between rain showers today. When we got there I saw the beach was favorable for a hunt so when I took him home I turned around and went back. Well, not exactly. I went back and I forgot my scoop and rain coat so I had to go back again! There weren't a lot of targets but I did get a couple of quarters and some indicators but I couldn't really find a pattern/line. I knew I didn't have much time and I was a bit impatient with my 800/15 so I stepped up the pace and said I only want 'good' targets on my way to a beach area that has given me good success in the past. Before I could get there I heard this scratchy 8-9 but it was not solid like a good ring. After a couple of scoops I could see color in the side of the hole. That is not a normal thing for me. I wish I had taken a picture but I just scooped it and looked in the bottom. It was a great color, not as heavy as I would have liked and it reminded me of a cheap ring style. But that color had me hopeful for something real. The rain was coming so I had to turn back. I had gotten in 1.5 hours. When I got to the car I could see 18 C. When I got home I looked up 18 C and it said it could be the same as 18K or 18 ct if the ring was made in a country where English was not the spoken language. It cleaned up pretty nice with my ultra sonic cleaner. It weighs 4.6 grams and is only missing 1 of the stone inclusions. They are faceted but many are very cracked and chipped up so I don't know what they are made of but the ring itself catches light well and sparkles. This was the rainbow on the way home! This was the way it looked before I cleaned it up.
  5. Its been a few days since I found gold but today I got an 8.6g/14k loner. It was my only piece of jewelry on a stingy beach. These are hunts from two previous days just trying to break the skunk.
  6. I got up early this morning to hit the beach. To my dismay the targets were few and far between. The wave energy and tides made for a pillowy sand but all the targets are still in the water somewhere. I walked about 4 miles for these few things. At about the half mile mark I did find a target that I said to myself made the trip worth it. It was still mostly dark when I found it but it was not that heavy. Later about the 2 mile mark I found the silver ring with the garnet/ruby on it. I helped a cormorant get put into a bird box about the 2.5 mile mark after I saved it from the dogs. The cross is 'odd' to me for several reasons. It is not marked. It looks like a hand pour with imperfections on the back and at the end of one arm of the cross. The number on my Nox 800 was a solid 21 which would be close to penny which means copper. There is a slight staining on it which made me think of rust. I checked its 21.9 grams with a super magnet and it is slightly attracted but I can't pick up the cross with the magnet. The reverse side shows the pour imperfections. These pictures show the defect and the source of staining but also some blue green corrosion but very little. The top of the cross is one piece. I get the impression that someone 'touched it up' with a file. I have no idea of the patterns on the cross and why it is not more corroded. Does anyone know how this type of real or fake cross would be made? Mitchel
  7. Last weekend I posted about a silver earring back I found in this park area I have been working that has yielded a couple good finds. This weekend I found this gold earring. Not too heavy, hollow, but 14k on the stud and came out nice and shinny. I’ve gridded this area in both directions with the 11”, Park 1 and Park 2. Going over it now in Park 2 again with the 6” and working the lower numbers. This gold earring was a 2-3 VDI, mostly 3. So I’ve proved to myself that with good patience and putting in the time I can find small jewelry at parks. But, is it worth it? So much foil. Maybe in sand at the beach? The challenge and process of working this area is fun and interesting in a way but it has not yielded anything significant or I don’t feel I have left much behind. Have no idea how I missed that spoon though... it wasn’t a super strong signal and it was deepish, a little iffy. Very few coins, pull tabs or anything in that range. No more rings. Anything iffy that is a high tone and grunt, rusty bits and nails, mostly one direction (F2=2 Eq 600). I’ve not dug up anything iffy that has surprised me or even a deep dime or copper penny, etc. Takes a lot of time and patience to walk behind that 6”. And I’m not even sure the 11” would not have found that gold earring had I dug lower numbers with the 11”. Maybe not the earring back? I still have a bit more of this area to work and then some other areas where I have cleaned up the higher toned stuff and some nickels where I need to do the mid numbers and down to about just below nickels. Is it worth it to do the really low single digits for a couple tiny missed things like this? Hmmmm
  8. I have ever dug. Being a nice day Friday I went to a beach that I had a 15 minute walk to get where I wanted to hunt. Being a nice day many people were walking the beach, So not having to dodge them or answer questions I went into the water thigh deep and walked down the beach detector on and just pushing it straight not swinging. 5 minutes in I get a signal stop back up locate it 2nd scoop up comes this 8.8 gram 14K Band. It just goes to show that Gold is where you find it. Finished out the hunt with some clad and lead sinkers.
  9. Found this 10K ring a few days ago with what I think are garnets with 2 tiny diamonds. 3.4 grams. Not many targets in the wet sand but this was not a recent drop and about 8 - 10 inches in depth. It was found in a low spot on the beach while gridding, using the Nox 800.
  10. I got out 3 times and was able to snag some decent targets. This hunt was done at the rocky beach I frequent during winter. There were lots of targets, more than I could dig in one hunt. I got about $8 in clad. The first row is all the good jewelry, one small 14k (.73g), and the rest Silver. The second row of rings are all junkers. This second hunt netted about $12 in clad and a small/light broken 14k pendant. The last hunt wasn’t all that great but I somehow managed to get a gold tooth that weighs 3.6g. Thanks for stopping by and Happy Hunting.
  11. Hit my favorite beach today and was not disappointed a 1932 collage ring 10k and a signet OB 10k The best of all the coins were 5 Wheats. 2 silver religious items. a Pewter Cross, The shiny silver dot is a Mercury thermometer and it works.
  12. Hello all, I found this yesterday on an extremely trashy beach amongst old demolition debris used as erosion control! It is amazingly intact except for the little safety chain! It's my best jewelry find ever, and first silver of the year! I'm trying to date it, but I will probably have to take it to an antique jeweler for something more definitive, and a more thorough cleaning! So far, it seems to be of Italian or German origin; 80% silver! Going by the 800 mark!👍👍 **After cleaning with silver polish!
  13. I hunted an inland reservoir about four months ago, just as they were letting the water level down for the winter. I ,of course got there maybe way too early in the season to find the stuff out deeper but intended to go back later. This is a 120 mile round trip flyer so I don't hunt it often and have to rely on the locals (inland detecting club) to post about it's level during the year. Well a guy did such a post two weeks ago and showed the water level down significantly. Just what I was waiting for, even if the locals were going to get there first, thought I might hit it anyway. Had to wait two weeks for the weather to stop raining enough to make the trip. When I got there I was very disappointed to see the water level had risen up the bank another 25 yards from the last posting. Putting the deep swimming area out of bounds for me (I wasn't planning on doing any water hunting). Anyway, I probably got the last silver ring on the beach for the season. Using a Nox with factory presets, coming in at a solid 19 and maybe 3" deep. A 925 child's ring with a pretty red stone. Finds have been slim for me this year so any ring find keeps the spirits up. 14. Had about an hour to hunt this morning before a Dr appointment and made the most of it. LOL The ring is 14K and weighs 16.3g. It rang up a very loud and solid 11 on the Equinox. You gotta love unique rings!!!
  15. Temp warmed up along with a low tide during the day.
  16. Went out today for another session, long walk and lots of digging .Not sure how many miles i did but a few nice weather again, with the nox and a spade ,lots of WW2 remains, and .......1 9ct Gold ring with 3 semi precious stones .Bullets registered 14/15/16 Bullet case around 20/ Fishing weight High 20s Gold ring 6/8 100% of the bullets tip were identified...... Was running at Reac 2 ,pinpointing at 4,signal are longer but thats fine with me Enjoy RR
  17. Been running A M. mostly here on the Gulf. So much I don't even think about it. Anyway today I met up with a good buddy on his second year with his Nox 600. Following a good ways behind I hit a few low negative items. No matter How hard I squinted I couldn't make them gold /silver. So I caught up to my pal, laid em on the sand. Hey check these with your Nox, see what ya think. He says , Can't hear a thing ! What? He's says he got nothing. Ole buddy was starting to get a little sick. Felt kinda bad. Thought a minute. I says , you in All Metal. No in disc. He switched it over. All was good. Just proves you never quit learning. Around a buck eleven, out of a surf wash.
  18. I haven't been out much lately due to some uncomfortable tendonitis but I made it down to a beach this afternoon for low tide. The beach was sanded in and I wasn't expecting to much from the Impulse but just needed to "get out" of the house mainly. I had the beach pretty much all to myself with just a couple of surfers and a few walkers. I was running AM and basically default settings and just enjoying the beach. I dug several bottle caps so I knew that finding something good would be a crap shoot. The Impulse was hitting the lobster trap pieces pretty hard and I was getting a double beep on some pieces but not enough. LOL I got a good solid AM hit and switched to Tone mode and got the "doo whop" sound of a coin. I am thinking quarter all the way. Three scoops down and it finally came out of hole of the caving in wet sand. It is the biggest ring I have ever detected. A big boy for a big boy!!! 18.9 g and size 13 1/4. I can wear it on my left thumb. To bad it wasn't a gold class ring but I will take silver any day. I am not sure what the stone is either. But beggars can't be choosers. LOL Thanks for looking!
  19. From mid beach to the upper slope, not a lot targets but squeezed out a few keepers! Good luck out there! ☠️
  20. Got out for a couple of hours to get my detecting fix and quite the fix it was. The hunt started off slow as usual. I got to the beach and there was a Detectorist there already so I decided to start two towers away. I like to zig zag and try to find a patch to work instead of just picking a spot and start gridding. After a mile or so of walking I found the larger ring so decided to stay there. Within a few minutes I found my second gold ring and then the 3rd and fourth. I wanted to keep at it at that spot but it started to get crowded so I left. The 4 gold rings and earrings came from one spot and the other junk rings and silver ring came from a different spot which I had to leave because of the tide kicking me out. Thanks for looking and good luck out there. The left gold ring is 10k and the rest 14k.
  21. On tip from my Xcal buddy, beat it up the shore to catch one just right. Using advice from this forum and another Tarasccii forum hunted in all metal. Actually best mode for sanded in beaches I found. Just before hunting the cut ,on the beach entry path. Dug a good signal (house key) About 10 yards later got a nice sounding target. Not all that deep. I'd guess 4 to 5 inchs. Took me four scoops cause kept slipping threw my scoop. I thought it was a junker but turned out 925 with Zirkcon stone. While working the cut didn't have time to check AL with Disc. Relied on tones and numbers. Surf getting rough. This is a very good machine picking up that Stud in the middle of no where. Pic of what I was running. And no I ain't getting my ear pierced.
  22. Another good hunting day this month. I went out for a low tide stroll and as usual things start slow. The .925 silver which is actually copper came in about the second hour. The next one was the gold ring with some tiny Ruby’s (I think that’s what they are). This ring was a lucky find since all I had found around was light trash and I was getting ready to move one. The tungsten was my last and I called it quits after that. Thanks for looking and happy hunting.
  23. The recent high surf and good tides moved massive amounts of sand at some of my local beaches this week. On my first hunt the 40mph winds and blowing sand made it challenging to walk, let alone detect. My detector and scoop even acted like sails, catching the wind and twisting me around at times. On day 2 the winds had calmed down but the first 3 beaches I hunted didn't yield that many targets. However the 4th beach had a fresh 4'-6' cut running for hundreds of yards and below it I started to find plenty of targets in the wet sand. I saw 3 other people with detectors but on this day there were enough targets to go around so social distancing wasn't a problem. Over the 2 days of detecting I found 50 quarters and a dozen pieces of silver but surprisingly- no gold. I dug a lot of trash as well since I was using my TDI Beachhunter but most of the targets were shallow so recovery was fast. It was fun digging so many targets- I haven't had a hunt like that in a while. Even though I was a little disappointed in not finding the gold that I KNOW was there I was pleasantly surprised to find "T&Co" stamped on 1 of the silver rings when I got home- my 2nd Tiffany of the year. GL&HH!
  24. I’ve been pretty busy this month and I’m not sure if I’ll be out there the rest of the month so I thought I’d post this. It’s a 5 gram 10k nugget ring I hit yesterday down about 6” I’d guess in waist deep water. That’s on my little finger so it’s not a big size. Beautiful day for hunting.... two hunter on the dry but just me getting wet. Real quiet in the water this year. Hit an area I knew this summer had pushed up some of our thick gray sand. I could hear a bit of chatter that smoothed to nothing as I ran into processed deep sand. Not much out deeper but this year we don’t have much of a trough... she’s pretty smooth and on the reneourished beaches there’s a lot of deep worthless sand. So it’s kind of blind squirrel hunting even if you know the beach.
  25. Well it has been a dry spell, but finally connected! Besides the gold stamp there is gcic4 stamped in the ring. Does this refer to the diamond? TIA
