At the beach! 🥳 Today was reasonably warm but got pretty rank despite the location. It was windless at 7AM, but the wind came up, 25 mph with gusts to 35. First photo is looking out toward the river and ocean, second is looking back inland. The sand was blowing, it was like being sandblasted. 😵 Got out twice today, my wife was tired from the long drive, and after what I found the first time she wanted me to go out again.😀 I think she just wanted to take a nap, the wind was cold despite the temperature being in the 70s. When I first got there the tide was going out, only about a 6' tide today, but it got pretty low. I hunted around until I found the coin line, and then found where jewelry was sinking, about knee deep to the high tide, maybe lower. here's the first run haul, 3 rings I found in one spot, a gold plated copper bracelet, a gold plated copper leaf earring, and .78 in clad. I was surprised to find the infinity ring was .925! My wife took that one 🙄 Here's the trash, not too bad and pretty much what I usually get in 3 hours with the Equinox and 10x5. The Matchbox car was about a foot down, gave me a 30/31. 😀 I found a few of those bullet shaped pieces of lead all in one area, 3 different sizes. I was using F2=0 so the bottle caps got past me. I dug some sinkers and gave them to a fisherman. Took some gratuitous Island pics between hunts, I had some stuff to do. Second hunt was late afternoon for two hours, the wind was blowing the sand even more. Lots of large ships going up and down the river made surf hunting out of the question because of the huge wakes, but they were fun to watch. 😀 Got .61 more in clad, and a really cool shark tooth earring that may be silver. It was throwing 15-20s and was about 10" down in the saturated sand. Took a long time to find it. Trash to finds was a little higher, I was much higher on the beach along the towel line. Found some more of those strange lead points. Going to take the Deus 2 out tomorrow to this place to see if I can find anything else. 🙂 This is mostly a fishing spot that the sun sets on, so locals spend the afternoons here. There was one other detectorist out there with I think a Garrett AT, but it didn't look like he found much. He didn't stay long. Long tale but a great start!

Not known for very purdy stuff here. But did manage to snag this with the Equinox. VERY quality setting. Marked 10KR [rose gold] Hope these are all diamonds!!!

For years when ever I brought back a Earing I've found , my wife always asks " Where's the other one?". Well about 5 years ago detecting on a Delaware beach heading for quitting time. Got this really nice hit. Couldn't believe it. A set of intertwined Silver earings. So told my wife ( waiting on the Boardwalk ) "Hey, I got ya a nice earing". Where's the other one, she asks? Not so fast, my Queen! Picture tells the rest of the story.

Got out yesterday with my new Legend .Cold day , and windy too .Only a couple of people with their dogs ,in a very large park .Great signal at consistent 17 .Bracelet is stamped 875 which I believe is 21k gold .Each alternate heart has 6 small diamonds so 48 in total.Thanks for looking .

Today I found a .925 Pink Honker. I say this because it is massive at 16 plus grams and the size of the stone is immense also. I don't know anything about the makers mark. I don't really know much about the age either. I've cleaned it up quite a bit from when I found it. My lasting question will be was the ring made for the stone (pink quartz?) or was a stone found for the ring? These are 3 other rings I found this week. There are 2 silvers and 1 cheapo.

Last week Vista X sniffed this Silver Pendant out from a sea of pennies, clad coins and Alum crap. Good clad take that day but the Pendant was the Prize. Today the ATPro caught a Lay-Up. Eyeballed this really nice mens bracelet on a bank overlooking a basketball court. Looked it up, $33 over the counter. Everything in these areas are shallow or On Da Topp.

After beta testing Steve's new S-Shaft, I had to send it to the next tester when I was done. I'm perfectly happy with my regular Steve's Rod for my Nox, but I was missing the S-Shaft. There's just something about it that I can't quite put my finger on. So I ordered one from Steve and it arrived yesterday, so I had to take it out today for a test drive of the final production model. Man it's even better than the prototype. With the 10x5" coil, the control is locked in and it just feels like an extension of my arm. I took it over to a small local 1980s park just to play around. It's very trashy and I was only going to dig really good sounding signals because I was just there for the swing time. There were darn few good signals so I started digging a few that I knew were bottle caps just to verify and a few iffys that were junk. About 30 minutes in, I got a bouncey 18-21 and figured it was a deteriorating zincoln but I just dug it anyway. I opened a small hole only a few inches down and saw a clasp sticking up. I cleared some space around it and began to gently pull on the clasp as a chain slithered to the surface like a small snake uncoiling. It was caked in soft dirt from the melting snow so I figured it was junk and threw it in the pouch. When I got home, I started inspecting the finds and noticed some numbers on the clasp tag... S 925! Well that was certainly a happy accident. The glasses parts, pull tabs, and kid's play tag were surface items, everything else was dug. Custom Park 1, 50 tones, horseshoe on, FE2=2, RS=5, Sensitivity=18.

After the rain passed this morning, I got out this afternoon for a couple hours to the local football field. The third solid signal in, using the 5x10 with the Equinox along the chain link fence, turned out to be a crispy necklace about an inch down that had three pendants on it. After seeing two that had rusted, the hope for number three was not high. After rubbing a bit, I got my phone out to zoom in on the top of the hanger to check for hallmarks. Surprise, 14K! The signal was a 16-17 with jumpy tones as well. About an hour later came a strong 9. Expecting aluminum, I was elated to find the second possible gold of the day! When I got home, I noticed the resizer on the ring and that there was gold that was coming off in a strip. My heart sank. But then, I noticed the gold was coming from the resizer. My heart was reinflated! Park 1, all metal, 7 recovery, 17 sensitivity, manual ground balance

The forecast for this weekend is very cold temps. When I got home from work yesterday the temp was in the low 60s so I figured I’d get an hour of practice with the D2 in my pounded yard. I was getting a few bullets and working my way back to the house when I get a nice, fainter sounding 85-86. I dig down about 7” and it’s a silver ring! I thought it might be a deep wheat or even a zinc penny. It’s marked: sterling-fspq. I was hunting in a custom park program.

Got a text from a friend this morning wanting me to bring a detector out to the ranch to look for his soon to be mother in law's wedding ring she lost the night before in around four inches of snow on the long driveway up to the house, when we got out there around four pm today the snow was packed down good and hard had to use my pick to bust through it as it was 28 degrees with 30 mile per winds . So fired up the Nox 800 and got to work we had a good idea were she had parked her car so starting from there we worked our way up the driveway and in about 10 minuets we found the ring , now the thing about this is her husband had just bought this as a replacement for the one she lost in Denver just a few months before this , so needless to say they were both happy with the outcome of the days hunt. Would have got some photos but it was to darn cold to mess with a camera after that .

The wife and I spent a night at a small town beach area back in mid Feb...we brought our detectors just for fun...not my first pick as it's cold and windy most of the time with not many people but my wife likes these areas north of Petaluma as she grew up in that area...Lisa was learning her new Nox 800...she found a few coins and lots of trash...I got lucky as I did not expect to find a gold ring...at first I thought it was 10K but it acid tests 14K like it's stamped....not the prettiest ring but gold is gold....the little one is silver.... some lady and her 5 year old daughter were on their hands and knees watching as I sifted it out of the sand...they were as surprised as I was.. strick

Yesterday I started a thread with an unfortunate circumstance on the beach. I went back to the same beach today and almost in the same location I found this: It is a 24"/14k/9.2g chain and pendant.

Warmed up nicely here in VA, they're calling it "meteorological spring", yeah right. Sure as you're born were gonna get one more snowstorm, hopefully I'll be in Savannah when it comes. 🙄 Working on getting the RV ready for its shakedown trip next month, but I managed to get out twice this week. First outing was Tuesday at the colonial farm I've been hunting, so much to choose from here but I decided to hunt a spot where the finds could be very old, or not. It's only about 4 acres of a much bigger field that I divide by telephone poles. Didn't do too bad, got a buffalo nickel, some old wheats, and the best tiny colonial button I've ever found. It's smaller than a dime, but was gold plated: The back has a crown and the words "Rich Gilt" on it. The letters are raised so it must have been cast. There are still traces of gold plating on it. Got a nice musket ball, a big D buckle and a couple of other really old buttons. Some interesting metal fragments from who knows what, one appears to be part of a stamped flower. Today I went to an old farmhouse down the street from mine, a place that I've pounded pretty hard and found some nice silver coins. I went back over that spot with recovery speed turned down and sensitivity way up. Snagged a 1913 wheat, a 1965 dime, a memorial, and then I got a strong iron signal with just a few chirps in the 27-30 range, and the depth meter pegged. I was sorry of able to isolate the high sound but the iron kept coming over it. Dug down about 8-10", about the length of my Ranger shovel. I was still getting iron but there was a persistent 27. I took out my trusty (sort of) Quest Xpointer Max, and poked around the bottom of the hole until I found a non ferrous beep among all the iron. Got this nice little relic: it's only about the size of a dime. Got to get out there, some of my permissions are about to become off limits with spring planting!

Went out to the local football field for about an hour and a half. I was running the Equinox with the 5x10 and focusing on lower tones while running in Park 1, 4 recovery, all metal, and 22 sensitivity. It rang in a strong 7-8 and was down under a small root about 4-5 inches down just a little over a foot away from the fence. Looks to be 14K. Still plenty of pull tabs left for the future!

For those who don't dig the 16-17 bottle cap numbers. It was 17 in the sand and 16 out. 14k, 12.8g and size 16. I have been trying to de-trash this beach before I hit it with the Impulse. I like this kind of de-trashing.

Thought I’d post this one since these heavy PLT 950s are hard to come by. Beautiful day here yesterday 82 and the water was 65 windy but not really a lot of waves. The beaches were packed but not to many crazies in the water. I was chest deep for this one and I’m guessing it was 6” down. Pull tabs solid ring up as a 7 ….. so do these as do a lot of gold rings but they give a much richer and very solid 7. One of those I could raise the detector enough to see the digits. Little over 4 hours in the water I bet I didn’t dig a dozen targets. But I got this one and a tung. Neither were targets anyone would miss. I was hunting in AM, full sensitivity, -1 thresh, 30 salt balance, BS off, 560 GB. I love the round coil…. But for the winter I swapped back to the standard. I was pretty surprised… it’s really a quiet coil and very sensitive. You gain some coverage with the round coil… but I’d say that standard coil is a really good one for in the water. This was a $500 day.

I've been at this for a few years now, but the other (low tide) night I scored the best chunk-o-gold yet. Using my Whites TDI Beach Hunter I found 29 grams of 22K (stamped and tested). I was somewhat blown away. I believe it to be East Indian origin (bright yellow/gold) and a large bangle or arm bracelet. I see my next machine here, and my wife can't complain about it! LOL. I'll keep it in the loot box until it needs to be cashed in. No sense scrapping it now since the price of gold keeps climbing! Cheers folks and HH!

Hard start for a new year seems company, Drs, and now COVID in the house has kept me chasing my tail. Today I needed to get out for a couple of hours. Didn’t feel like hunting in the water so I did something a bit different and hit a couple of volleyball courts. Picked up these two …. Both 14k. The earrings stone tested good. Total weight for them were 2.3 grams. No sunshine… but at 62 it was pretty nice out there. Got these using 18khz cranked up in AM. You do get a lot more EMI and jumpy screen not being in the water.

so i started metal detecting back in 2020 summer with nokta pulsedive back than i didnt know anything about that machine anyway i started metal detecting wawing the machine left and right for almost 1 month i did not find any gold or valuable than dang one signal came through and i found this beauty i was having a hearth attack nearly drowned underwater while looking at it.. it's a 14K custom made wedding band which says the both bride and groom's name side by side weighted 13.94 Grams after that i found many gold but not like this not yet anyway 🙂

Due to deeply sanded in beaches started hunting off beach. These places are very trashy so the smaller coil. These targets were shallow and bedded down with plenty of rusty crown caps. Some change and a Silver ring minus the stone. Hunted in Disc whole time. Believe me it was this kind of hunt or the couch. Fun little over a hour hunt.

Wednesday I had a brief moment in the arctic air that is hammering PA. It was going up to 50 degrees, So I thought I'll take what I can get during this frigid spell. Off to the park I went to try for some silver. I had about 2 hours to complete the mission before my wife decided to cash in on my insurance policy. Three clad and I dropped a silver in the box, A 1964 rosie. Light was fading and a bunch of clad later I decided to detect back to the truck. Starting to get a little colder I needed to adjust my hat and as I sat my Tesoro on my digger I got a nice tone. Thought maybe it was just the ground sounding off. Once adjusted I swung again and it WAS a good target. Time to dig, At 8'' I had the wonderful Heart Attack moment. All I saw was diamond and a big one!!! Well once cleaned I realized it was a CZ mounted in a silver Mexico setting (CRAP). But I thought to myself it's still beats a white metal ring. I think we all have those Heart Attack moments, some are real and some not so much. At least this one didn't turn out to be a pull tab ring. Pretty sure this is what drives us all to keep digging. I love each and every crappy target I dig knowing something good is just around the corner.

The snow is piling up in Western Pennsylvania and I am dreaming of my next beach trip. I really wish I was in New England tonight getting ready to hit the beach on Tuesday and Wednesday. The following picture are the rings that I found on my last week of April trip to the beach. The top ring is a stainless steel ring and the markings are the Viking alphabet. Middle rings right to left are .925 silver ring, 14k gold ring and a 14k gold ring. Bottom rings right to left are 14k gold band and a .925 silver ring with fake stones. Hopefully the beach will be fantastic for you guys next week and I hope you kill it.

On a beach sanded in due to replenishing. Mixed in with shells , bits of alum. Tabs etc. Banged in at a solid +06. Unmarked, stamped with Purdia on the inside. Shiny gold but slightly scored (maybe by being run threw the shell shaker). Anyway yellow underneath the gores. I'll have it tested when I get home in March. Maybe someone else found a ring by this company and can shed some light. Found on the Gulf Coast of Florida.
