MX Sport - Headphone Connector Pinout Needed
Keith Leppert posted a topic in White's Metal Detectors
I know this is a long shot... but does anyone have the pinout mapped out for the headphone connector on an MX Sport? I tried asking a few of my contacts this question, but have come up short so far... Thank you -
All metal- options- VCO on, will also be on during PP. Prospecting- options- VCO off- also off on PP options. Relic- option VCO on, Will also be on VCO in PP. But each of these programs VCO can be independent of the other. Manual says you can lock in PP Go to options and make it on or off VCO. But in these all metal programs It just follows the main menu options. All that makes sense. Remember VCO isn't an available (option) on the menu for Discrimination modes. Go to C&J But with PP locked in - options-select VCO on, then exit, unlock PP. Test swipe in C&J mode, as expected, then PP and VCO is on. Go to menu select Beach Lock in PP select no VCO Exit turn off PP lock and swipe as expected, Then in PP the VCO is off. Now select High Trash, Swipe as expected. Lock in PP- options VCO, On, Exit unlock PP Swipe as expected, Then with PP on the VCO is on. I know I'm repeating myself, All metal programs and VCO work as intended. I learned each of the All metal modes can have VCO independent of the other. VCO for the Discrimination programs, can NOT be turned on or off in their options menu. Here is the part which the instruction manual does NOT tell you. Locking the PP in EACH of the discrimination modes give you options to turn on or off VCO. They also can be independent of each other as well.

I’m always combing through the buy, sell, trade mediums to find great deals on machines and gear. Releases like the Simplex and Vanquish have really placed a new ceiling on the value of older equipment. Still, I thought this was a good deal. Whites MX5 Metal Detector Whites Bullseye TRX Keene 50” gold sluice box Garret gold pan and classifier assorted diggers Beach scoop (mid end) $225 I went ahead and bought the lot so I could keep the bullseye Trx and gold sluice. The rest will be sold later in the year.

I have a White's MX7, and I mostly hunt an 1860's farm house...I have found coins from 2000 to 1940, nothing older than that... There are tons of iron objects all over the place, I have read maybe faster recovery speed might help in a situation like this, I also know the MX7 has no recovery speed setting. Are there any settings I could use that would help in recovery speed, or finding older coins under all the iron?

I'm looking for the 4 wire pinout for White's MX Sport audio port, I've lost my adaptor and want to build a replacement. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I was reading another thread and folks were saying that the Land-based MX7 was superior to the Water-proof MX Sport. Aren’t they just the same electronics and programs in a different housing? Thanks! Walt

I bought a Mx Sport about 2 years back. I have noticed that the battery box has become "loose" where it attaches to the frame. Has anyone else had a similar problem? and have you managed to fix it? I have bought a second MX that has stopped working with the aim of using its battery box as it seems nice and tight still. But been a bit worried about stripping my machine as i am I am not sure how much damage i mite cause by taking it apart, and i have not found anything on the net yet on the topic. Any help would be much appreciated, thank.

What kind of batteries ya'll use? I used to buy nothing but Duracell rechargeable, then in the last year I couldn't find any. I just bought some Rayovac with a charger, but they don't seem to hold a charge. I charged them, put them in, they showed full charge as I hunted for about an hour, then the next day only see two dots on the power gauge. I recharged them hoping they needed a break in, but they did the same thing. Now I have used them for 3 days, with only two dots showing, they don't seem to be going any lower, but I don't trust them. I just did a search and found a bunch of Duracells, I might of been looking for the same charger I used to have, that died, and couldn't find it. I hate to go spend more on a different brand...I didn't notice until now, the rechargeable's are 1.2 volt, whereas the regular are 1.5 volt, would that make a difference? I don't want a battery pack, at least not a NiCad...

As said I like both the Sport and the Nox face . The great thing about them as you hunt you can really look at the face of each and know what you have notched out . What makes the Nox even better over the Sport is you can notch out one number at a time . Oh I know the Nox has so many fine qualities over the Sport it will never have but like the Nox it has a pretty face . I don’t know why but a pretty face always tugs at my heart strings and a detector is no different. Chuck White's MX Sport Display and Controls Minelab Equinox Display & Controls

I am very impressed with the High trash setting, and am trying to figure out how it is weighted you would think it had low sensitivity and high discrimination therefore would lead to less dept and more iron masking in thick iron areas at homesites but it actually performs to the contrary of my expectations. it goes very deep up to 12 inches and the discrimation level dose not interfere with separating iron from small non ferrous items I was using my equinox in all metal mode and my friend had his MX Sport high trash mode, we where at a colonial homesite, he has getting mixed signal of iron and a high tone and number he dug 5 big hand made square nails up to 6", and was still getting the good signal , when i cam over with the equinox in multi frequency all I was getting was iron, minus signals, with a flash of 11 but no enough to want to dig, and I predicted it was probably a false from a bent nail he kept going and eventually t 10" deep amongst more nails he pulled a penny My equinox never sensed this coin, yet high trash on single frequency spotted it at the onset and stuck to it like glue until it was finally retrieved. I would love to know the set up and weighting behind this mode some i could apply some to my equinox.

Both the MX Sport and the Equinox 800 are waterproof and that’s about where the two are alike ends. Now if we want to put the detectors that have the option to run in different frequencies then how would you place them in price? I speaking about the ones that have other frequencies but still run only one at a time . Now remember the Equinox is at the top with a price of 899.00 and a true multi frequency. Would you want to slip it in between the Sport and the Equinox in price? Maybe we could lower the price of the Sport and place the ones we’ve been talking about in it’s spot.. Just thinking out loud but everyone has their own opinion. Chuck

I need to know the type and size of the screws in the Sport ? Do you know if it can take a higher voltage without smoking it ? If anyone else knows the answer please do reply. When I get finish with my Sport we both may not know it. Chuck

Hello I read somewhere that relic mode is the best to find all items at iron filled sites, as coin and Jewerly and Trash mode, can mask out keepers also how important is Manual ground balance?, as i was told the machine just takes care of it when you turn it on any help is great Thanks

I finally got to use my MX Sport today for the first time. In relics mode it was bouncing all over the place, switched to coin and jewelry and the machine performed better for me. Any advice for the relics mode would be appreciated.

I just find it hard to believe I’m the only one on here that has a Sport. If you do I’d like to hear from you. Hey if not it how about the MX 7 . The only two in the news at this time is the Goldmaster 24K that will be out the 1st of August. The other just as well be in fantasy land and that’s the TDI Beach Hunter. If you got a White’s that you know Noah had before you, let’s talk. Chuck

I’ve been trying to find the time to truly give the 6” Six Shooter coil a field test. I had the opportunity several times to give it that test but always fall short of what I wanted. Today I found myself in a school yard that I never hunted before. On the way in to what I would call a very large play ground area. They had to haul loads of sand in because it so deep I found it hard to walk on. I had fired up my Sport as soon as I walk in the play grounds. On the way to that beautiful deep sand that I was thinking it had to be hundreds of coins waiting just for me I past some very small bleachers . I made a swing a two but no luck. That sand around the swings was calling even louder now. I started my hunt around the first set of swings but to my disappointment not one coin did I find. This went on from one play area to another. Oh I’d find a penny now and then but not much I’d say to write home about. I’d walked back to the first swings that I had started from. Standing there I couldn’t believe I hadn’t no more than I did . My thinking it’s got to be someone hunting this school everyday. I’ve never walked away with something looking this good and so little. I was not to be put down so I started detecting again. After a few swings I got a signal within a foot circle all reading a quarter. Sure enough it was a quarter not just one but three. From then on I stayed away from the play ground equipment. I was finding pennies dimes with a quarter here and there. Yes I know any coil could have done what I’ve talked about so far. I was feeling so good on the coins I found so far I was going to hit those metal bleachers on the way out. The Six Shooter coil really was shining bright when I was hunting right under that bottom seat that you can see in the picture.I found more coins next to all that metal than I found in that big play ground. I know it’s more coins to be found under that little bleachers. I would have tried to move it but I think it would have made a change on my out look on life. I think the people detecting before me didn’t have a small coil like the Six Shooter coil like I did. If they had my finds would been lots less. If you don’t have the Six Shooter and you have the MX 7 or the Sport then you don’t know what you’re missing. Chuck

MX Sport Comes Now With Waterproof Headphones
Ridge Runner posted a topic in White's Metal Detectors
I was in a bookstore and pick up a copy of Western & Eastern Treasure mag. I flipped over to the inside of the front page and low & behold was a big blow up of the MX Sport. You may say what the big deal being I have one. What put me in a state of shock Is when I read Waterproof Headphones Included. The price is the same as it always been. All I can say is people is if you’re looking for a great buy look no further. Look down in the left hand corner of the picture at the number of coils that White’s offer for the Sport. Chuck -
An error in VDI number and quarter/dime reporting has been noted in the early version of the new 6” concentric coil for the White’s MX series. I can’t imagine not digging anything reading in this range anyway, but it is something to be aware of. If nothing else it could affect resale value on the coils so if you have one and this is a problem it can be addressed under warranty once a fix is applied. Stay tuned.

Like said when I turn on my Sport I get this frying sound for about 1 1/2 seconds..When I turn off the volume all the way I still get the frying sound coming through. I have other coils but this my first time of hearing this. If anyone else has this new concentric 6” please let me know if you too having the same trouble. I’m really not sure if it is trouble being the coil is working great. Chuck
