  1. Had the Legend, stock coil out today at a packed down freshwater beach that has quite a bit of black sand in the mix. Now there have already been a few things that have really impressed me about this machine; Firstly it has the ability to pull up signals very cleanly from dense junk . Didn't think it was worth posting anywhere but it got a 1940 cent from beneath a big tree that I've had all kinds of detectors and small coils in--kind of a "proving ground" spot--full of caps and small tabs. Okay pretty good and in salt it did the same thing--it was very stable and with a bit of tuning was grabbing signals out of the iron really well. So today this machine actually shocked me with how deep it is. Hunting this packed down flat--I got a faint signal--maybe a bit wide for my liking but had to see what it was. Good thing I had my small Stealth--although the target was a Corona cap and for sure had some halo--it was at least 16" down--maybe more. This detector can certainly run with the big dogs including my beloved Anfibio. It is certainly more stable and the multi FQ platform makes a surprising amount of the Sensitivity usable. I ran at around 26 but could have gone higher. Dug about 3 more signals (ya, all caps) but all at that depth range--struggled to get them out even with a water scoop. A very impressive detector can't wait to get a bit better with it. cjc
  2. Just started detecting last month with my Legend. I secured a permission to a colonial era farm. Was a beautiful place, only detected by the home owner. So I am out there maybe 30 mins....no foil...good sign... Get a nice solid 40, start diggin...and what to my wondering eyes should appear? An OX KNOB! I GOT AN OX KNOB! WOOT! You old timers may not be impressed but I was over the moon. My first real relic. Another 30 mins, nice 33, cant find it in hole or plug...look over and next to the shovel I see green! Bam! An old crusty Indian head penny! Another first! The penny was in bad shape, barely identifiable. It started raining so I quit and showed the home owner and she insisted on keeping both. I smiled and said sure. Just glad to have found something old. Then she says, I hope you don't feel bad that I am taking both. So I say, nah, no problem. Then she says "I am going to keep everything you find." I said no problem, and left. I Don't really get why she said that, but she owns the place, and I was just happy to find my first cool finds. I may go back, but knowing she wont let me keep anything is disappointing. But I will always remember that moment holding my beautiful ox knob. Oh yeah, so I am showing her the indian head and we couldn't identify it for certain at first. So she grabs it and says, sometimes running water over it works. At this point she had already said she was keeping it so I didn't object to her destroying the coin by washing it....which in fact did erase nearly all detail. She ruined my first coin. Took, my knob and broke my heart. Lol Totally worth it.
  3. Has anyone seen or heard how well the Legend does on gold nuggets as compared to the 800 or the ORX. I've been looking around the net but haven't really found anything yet. Thanks, Jim
  4. Trying to make customers happy is certainly not an easy thing to do. Kudos Dilek.
  5. Here is Dileks latest video with information about a Beach update, I guess for fixing the unstable performance at the beach some have demonstrated in videos on Youtube. I'm yet to watch the video so don't know it's content but putting it here for those that don't use Facebook to be able to see it. Dilek points out her cleaning lady cut off the video by unplugging her router so it ends unexpectedly.
  6. I say no. "YOU THE OPERATOR" did not find the target while using a Legend. Too many factors involved in making that statement. Genius.
  7. Just find the best settings for your sites and conditions. I would stay away from youtube users of this product. You have got a manual so read it. Everyone wants to fast track. Get's you knowhere even faster. . That's about all I will say.
  8. The update version is 1.05 and this update includes features and/or improvements which are not included in the user manual or differ from the explanations in the manual. Updates Made : 1. Pinpoint function has been improved. 2. M 1 Multi Frequency parameters have been updated. 3. Audio alert for Automatic Frequency Shift (Noise Cancellation) completion has been extended. 4. Factory default Tone Break value has been changed from 11 to 10 in Park mode. 5. Ferrous Off Discrimination Pattern has been updated to reject IDs between 1-10 in Park & Field modes. 6. Threshold audio level has been increased in Gold mode. 7. Audio response during ground balancing in Gold mode has been updated. 8. Backlight levels have been re-configured. 9. Bugs have been fixed. The second update will come in the upcoming weeks including an iron bias setting as well as beach advancements and any other suggestions we get from the actual users that we can implement. THANK YOU!
  9. A friend , and hunting buddy called me yesterday .He had just taken delivery of his new Legend and was having difficulty with the upgrade v1.05 on his Mac.I told him of a similar experience I was having , having tried it on 3 different windows 10 computers and failing to get it to load .Never had a problem with Dxxs or Eqx updates .One of the things I tried was cancelling the anti virus but that did not help .I am still trying to get it to work before the next update arrives ,
  10. Well the Legend Pro Pack has now landed in NZ and in stock, it's very tempting, very hard to resist.... can I resist? I don't know. https://www.dredgenz.co.nz/product/the-legend-pro-pack/ I assume seeing it's now in NZ it won't be long until other dealers around the world have it in stock too. The 6" coil is the one I'd be interested in with the Legend, until aftermarket coils come out for it to give me something like the Detech Ultimate 13" and the Nel Snake if Nel survive the war in Ukraine 😞
  11. For anyone with a Legend that is interested, I picked up three Sly Lynx dust covers for mine and my grandsons simplex pluses, they fit the Simplex plus perfectly they will also fit the legend but they are pretty tight, the sly lynx dust cover on the legend once fully on does cover up approximately 2/3rds of the external speaker on the back but I will say it does not impede the volume, it does take a little effort to get it on the Legend control head but it looks pretty nice once on, nice snug fit on the legend, once you do get it on all the buttons are still easy to get at and push and it sure will not be moving around on the control head like some I have seen on other detectors, nice add on accessory to keep mud and dust off
  12. i am really liking it a lot it reminds me of the Xterra 705 but with a lot more adjust ability then the 705 and that is saying something, the ergonomics is better then the 705 the Legend is a bit heavier to me then the 705 but comfortable to swing updated the Legend to the new update which was the first thing I did before actually using it other then the one time I swung it over my yard so I cannot tell anyone if it is better or worse with the new 01.05 update I will tell everyone when I updated it, I did not think the Legend updated properly even though when you turn it on it does say in the upper right hand corner it is 1.05 it took me about an hour of messaging users on Facebook to finally figure out it was correctly updated my thoughts on the update install it could have been a simpler process and also could have been easier to find out that the update was installed properly this is for anyone that attempts the update follow the instructions when doing it if you are unsure ask someone there is all kinds of info and people willing to assist you on Facebook, one thing that makes it difficult to tell if the update took is because when you first turn the Legend on it defaults to custom discrimination on the screen there will be a C by the discrimination bar that C needs to be changed to F, you change that by tapping the horseshoe button to toggle between the discrimination patterns that is the only way you can actually determine the update worked, other then when you first turn the Legend on, the C discrimination pattern does not change once the update has been done 11 is still notched out and the tone break is still set to 11 in custom discrim but when you toggle that to F you will see the tone break is now set to 10 and 11 is now notched back in Now for the good stuff took the Legend down to the park next to where I live there is a lot of EMI going on in this area I did a noise cancel but also had to lower the sens down to 20 to get it to actually quite down I also did a auto ground balance as the area I am in is highly mineralized my GB numbers came in at 94 so it is hot i, the legend was popping and cracking quite a bit which is understandable because i was in all metal mode just to get a feel for sounds from all targets, keep in mind i only hunted for about a hour and that is because I am still fighting with the affects of having covid a few months ago, it literally killed my breathing so I do not get to go for long before I have to take a break, I will get there though, I was swinging in park mode M1 sens 20 got over my first target which was down about 3 inches a clad penny, that was the only coin I dug after that it was pull tab city I attribute that to not really knowing the legend I dug 4 pull tabs and then had to quit and sit down I have never been one to look at TIDs so I cannot even tell anyone what those TIDs were on the few target I dug I have always detected by sound I will tell you some of the targets the sound is what stopped me, I really need to make a point of starting to look at target IDs and make it muscle memory to do so but I am so set in the way I detect it is going to take some discipline on my part to get there as far as the Legend is concerned it is a very solidly built detector and with the updates that I believe Nokta/Macro is going to be putting out for the legend I believe it can only get better, the Legend is very comfortable to swing and for me it did not seem to wear my arm out the tones are fantastic and can be adjusted to each users liking, it is for me going to take a bit getting accustomed to adjusting the settings which could take a while simply because I do not get to hunt near as much any more due to health issues so there is my first thoughts on the Legend
  13. just got it delivered and put it together first thing you notice once it is all together is the build quality of the Legend, to me it felt well balanced, set the spare battery in its cradle just to see what it felt like with the spare battery hanging under the arm cuff, it actually to me added a little more balance to the over all feel of the Legend, and did not seem to add much weight at all have not went out and tried it out yet detecting, but I did turn it on and set the clock to 12 hour mode, did a frequency shift that took me a bit to remember what I read in the manual but figured it out did the frequency shift because it was a bit noise y when i turned it on, lowering the sensitivity down from factory default which is 25 did not help to lower the noise from EMI but when I did the frequency shift it quieted down considerably, not going to go detecting until I do the update, but I will say I hit a quarter in my front yard that I have been over numerous times at around 6 inches, i still cannot figure out how I would have even missed that quarter but apparently I did, just did not go over it at the correct angle or something but the Legend did see it will update more once I get a little more acquainted with all the settings and things, I did not want to detect until after I update, I will admit for me it is going to be a bit of a learning curve and I attribute that to the legend being new tech to me, and my age and mind not working like it did when I first started detecting overall I am impressed with what I am seeing so far, and I will be honest with everyone if it does not turn out to be for me I will say why it was not i tend not to blow smoke up peoples behind
  14. I took the Legend out to an old football field in town for the first hunt. I spent a couple of hours when I first got the machine getting familiar with the settings. It's a rather easy machine to learn once you go though the functions a few times. I ran Park mode Multi 1, 2 tones, manual GB, sens at 27, my tone break at 24, all metal, volume at 6, recovery at 3. The Legend ran very stable at Sens 27, it did chirp when I sat the machine down to dig, but, once the coil was flat on the ground it would settle down. There was no doubt when I hit a target, the volume is more than loud enough at 6, actually too loud for me, so I dropped it down to 3. I don't think most users will have a problem with being able to hear when using the WHP. The headphones pair up almost immediately, turn the machine on, turn the phones on, go to bluetooth icon and hit it, it'll pair in a second or 2. The VDI numbers are very stable compared to other Nokta machines I've used in the past. Nickles hit 26-27 down to 5", didn't dig any deeper today. Zincs were hitting from 38-42 depending on the condition, some were half eaten, they rang the lowest of course. Copper pennies hit from 44-48, some dimes hit 51, most times 47-48 quarters 51-53. Deepest coin was a solid 9" wheat, VDI's bounced 44-48, good tone from both directions. That hit really boosted my confidence in the machine, it could be a contender to my Nox for deep coin hunting. I'll take the Nox next time and compare signals in the ground, today I wanted to put some time on the Legend. I didn't dig anything outstanding, but, I was able to dig a good number of targets to get a feel for the machine. I did notice some flexing in the shaft when it was extended too much, could be because of the middle shaft and the flexible armrest. Maybe a carbon fiber middle shaft would stiffen it up. The flexing may be more noticeable in the water, I'll find out later in the year when I take in the water. I'm not a big fan of the tones, not terrible, just not as sharp as I'm use too. It could be the headphones, I have a Bluetooth receiver I'm going to try with some earbuds next time out and I'll try my Quest Bluetooth phones as well. I'll also play with the pitch to see if that helps, it's certainly not a deal breaker, just not the tones I'm used too. I did have a couple of weird things happen. 3 times when I had to repair the headphones, I was getting sound though the phones and the speaker at the same time. I went thought pairing cycle again and that took care of it. One time the screen froze, I could not navigate the settings or make any adjustments. Turning the machine off and back on took care of that, but, it erased a couple of settings I made to my saved program. I like to run a faint threshold on my machines, on the Legend, it goes from to silent to somewhat loud with no in between. At 9, no sound, it kicks in at 10 which is too loud for me. Maybe an update could take care of that if it's a concern to other users. Also, it looks like the battery level was dropping faster than I expected, after 7 hours I was down to 2 bars. I doubt I could out last the battery, but, for others it could be a problem. I certainly will make sure I get into the habit of getting it on the charger after each hunt. Overall, the Legend is a solid performing machine, easy to use and swing, very stable running. I bought it mainly for water hunting because my warranty expires this month on my Nox. I think it'll hang with my mighty 800, I need a few more hunts to see what it can really do.
  15. Hunted in park 1 G disc pattern, set the first tone break back to 8, sens at 27 and 60 tones. I ran different recovery speeds but probably 7 & 8 mostly. Really like the way it feels in my hand. Swung it for 4 hours and no wrist problem at all. The tones were really nice. Our first stop was an old farm house location. They had previously grazed cows on the field so the grass wasn’t to tall. It didn’t take long to find the location of where the house was. My sons first coin was an 1873 shield nickel his second an 1893 V nickel. Those were our only coins. We did get several relics like you would expect from an old farm house. The second stop was another old farm house location that I had previously hunted. Josiah got a wheatie and I got a 1903 V nickel and a 47 Jefferson. A few other relics were found there as well. Our third stop was the testing spot. An old church location that we have hunted, our club has hunted and who knows who else. The old coins are deep and that’s what we wanted to see about our new Legends. Would they find us something there? That was the question. I honestly didn’t expect to but hey ya never know. The church yard is small and it’s been gone over a bunch! I set the recovery speed at 1 there with everything else the same. We only found one coin a 1915d wheatie but the Legend didn’t disappoint at all. I called my son over to go over it with his Legend and he looked at me and smiled. That sounds good he said. The depth meter was pegged and it was that sweet sound. I pulled out the plug cleaned out the dirt, swung back over it and it was still in the hole. I dig out some more and put my pin pointer in the hole. It was right in the center of the hole! I got out my small digger and proceeded to remove smaller bits of dirt and kept removing it. I use a trx pin pointer and it was all the way down flush with the ground and the coin was still in the hard dirt. The next few scoops removed the coin. I was grinning from ear to ear the Legend picked out a solid 10” coin with no problem. 😁😁😁 I swung the Legend a good four hours today total and was thinking at the end of the day this very well might be my new go to detector. Only one hunt but we’re both really happy with them. Looking forward to getting out with the Legend again! Thanks for reading! Good luck and HH!!
  16. Has anyone else tried to update their Legend on a Mac? I received the below...
  17. In my personal experience, for the accessory coils that would generate the utmost demand, this is your TRI-FECTA!! Waterproof DD Search Coil - 26x14 cm / 10"x5.5" Waterproof DD or Concentric Search Coil - 19x10 cm / 7.5"x4" Either a 7" or 9" Round Concentric: With these three coils, relic hunters, gold prospectors, jewelry hunters, and coil shooters alike will rejoice with a formidable selection of tools for the tasks at hand afforded by all of the well thought out detecting modes built into the Legend! Build them and they will come 🙂 PS - and some big coils for the go big or go home crowd, you know who you are! I think you have that already covered or in the works though 👍
  18. They made it to the U.S. as I just got word mine is shipping today.
  19. Just got the tracking info. Great news. Bought from metaldetector.com
  20. Has anyone figured out how to do a factory reset on this machine? cjc
  21. In this video he mentions that the equinox falses a lot more on nails than the Legend. The legend that he’s testing has a preset iron bias which would keep the falsing to a minimum. I wonder if he runs his nox in zero iron bias? If he does, it definitely would false more than the legend. I’m wondering if both detectors had equivalent iron bias settings would his statement above still hold true?
  22. Does anyone know how to do a factory reset? Also, has anyone noticed that on the threshold setting you go from silent to loud when using the headphones? It seems threshold setting of 9 is silent, once you go to 10 it's loud. Am I missing something here? It seems like it should be small incremental increases in the volume.
  23. Looks like the shipment has arrived. Serious Detecting has at least 10 available as I write this: https://www.ebay.com/str/seriousdetecting/Nokta-Makro/_i.html?store_cat=14364028018
  24. I don't know if anyone else has had this detector in the salt water where there is a lot of iron but I was very Impressed by the audio, target assignment and overall processing. This thing is fast and deep.--even in the MW preset. It brought up targets in an area that NOX and Excalibur hunters had been in for days. Unbelievable what you get for your money these days--a great value. I ran at Sens 25 Speed 5 or 6, Stability 1 or 2 and experimented with 4, 6 and 60 tones. If anyone has done any testing to determine if the Legend brings up targets best at higher or lower Speeds--let me know. cjc
