  1. Hi all, I love my equinox 800, but I hate taking off my headphones to listen to my pinpointer signal. I'm looking at getting a pinpointer with Bluetooth technology, but as far as I can tell I'm not able to use the same headphones for both devices. Does anyone have any advice on this in terms of what to buy or how to make two different systems work together on the same headphones?
  2. I'm using the MI 6 with the Orx. It starts off in program 2 out of the box and shows that on the remote screen. When you change it to program 7 does that show on the top of the screen on the remote? I've played around with changing programs and 7 will not show. Am I not understanding program 7? What programs do you guys prefer to use and why?
  3. Well I got a new pro pointer and it’s acting like this - - just like it should work - the “I’m getting closer” only goes to about 1/2 the speed it should when literally touching the target . - won’t do anything - won’t stop hardly. - had me digging to China for no reason at all . ( even after a re-tune ) that said , my friend pointed out the fact that the cereal number inside by the battery is not there - only a cereal number on the back ( wondering if it’s a B- quality pro pointer ? Any help I appreciate it ! OH and I bought it to be knew off eBay and it did come in the box sealed in plastic so IDK🤦‍♂️
  4. Since I compare the F-Pulse directly to the Garrett Pro-Pointer AT I have filed this report at the Metal Detector Advice & Comparisons Forum Short story - best pinpointer for my purposes I have ever used, and my new favorite. It was not a difficult decision!
  5. Don’t ask me why, but I continue to monitor the closing sales of the TRX since Whites closed its doors. The last two new models went for $380 and $400, with a pre-owned closing at $250. Closing sales for new have been over $300 for a while now. It makes me wish I had the foresight to buy a few a while back, but who would’ve guessed people would be willing to shell out $400 for a pinpointer. I still have one TRX, but wouldn’t sell it now for even $500.
  6. I’m having huge interference from the Quest using it with both XP models .Changing frequency doesn’t help .It is quiet with the Nox .Any help is welcomed . Also here in Canada having good success with G’s Sonar programme on the Deus ,though one needs to be vigilant with crown caps as they ring high tone .Pull tabs barely make high tone so are mostly recognizable , at least for me in my conditions .
  7. Despite having two pinpointers, including the new Pulse-dive, on the market, Nokta-Makro just rolled out a naming contest for a 3rd “future” pinpointer. No details on whether it too will be convertible or simply a standalone as depicted.
  8. Phrunt... My 6 is headed my way on the big brown truck and the heat will have me sidelined for at least a week. So with the 6 showing up during the heat wave I'll be sitting out I've decided to shorten up the Monster like you did and retire it temporally as a PP'er for the 6. Question is this....does all the wire wrapping that close to the 5" coil cause you any problems or make the Monster react any different? Thanks!!!!
  9. Found the pinpointer is not up to it, gave the Deus a go but it interfered (coil being on seeking RC) with the Z now will the Monster save digging those Z19 holes so big.
  10. Not sure if this question belongs here or in the Detector Advice section. I've been researching the MI 6 lately and I'm almost positive that I'm going to purchase one. I really like my Garrett so I'm hoping that I like the XP even more to justify spending that much on a pinpointer. One stupid question I have is why does the old ad for the XP say there are "Standard" features, "XP Plus" features and then "XP Plus with Deus" features? I get that the Plus with Deus features would work when connected to the Deus but why are there 2 other sets of features listed? And since my local shop has them on backorder, I will probably order through Amazon. I've read about some issues people have had with the MI 6. So is there a certain "made by date" (for the lack of a better term), or any kind of different versions I should look for or try to stay away from? Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated.
  11. This morning I wanted to charge my XP MI-4 pinpointer but couldn't open the knob covering the charging plug. After many fruitless attempts, I contacted XP service at metaldetector.com. In an on-line chat, they suggested soaking the tip in warm water for 15 minutes, then to try twisting to open and even reversing directions a few times. After a few tries, this worked. Hope this helps anyone else who might have this problem.
  12. I’m considering getting a new pinpointer......every manufacturer claims “ theirs “ is the best.... what are your opinions ? ? ?
  13. I like the bright orange because I'm careless and seem to lose a half dozen every year. I've already lost 2 of the green ones in the past month. I've quit buying Pinpointers for the same reason. I think I got these from Rob's Detectors.

  17. I recall that there were several people here who were looking for the TRX pinpointer and not finding them in stock anywhere. I was just looking at the Centreville Electronics website and they have them listed in stock for $199 with 2 year warranty. I was able to add one to my cart so it appears real. https://www.centrevilleelectronics.net/newunits.htm Cheers
  18. I've been debating whether to get a Fisher F-Pulse due to its greater sensitivity compared to my Garrett Carrot. But I wonder about its "closing range." What's that? Let me try to explain. Today, I tried using my Garrett Carrot for a full hunt, but had it on maximum sensitivity. I appreciated its extended range as it made it easier to determine if my target was in my plug or hole. However, I realized that the greater sensitivity isn't as useful as I had hoped given the amount of trash where I hunt. So while my Fisher F2 could discriminate out trash, during my dig, my Garrett Carrot might detect a piece of trash before it could get the actual target I was digging for. But I confirmed that the greater sensitivity of my Garrett Carrot isn't as useful as I had hoped because of the short "closing range" it had. What I'm referring to is its ability to change its beeping as the poinpointer gets closer to the target. For instance, the pinpointer might detect a target 3 inches out. But when it's still 1 inch away, the steadily increasing beeps have stopped and now it's a solid tone. And it stays this solid tone no matter how much closer you get to the target. Ideally, the steadily increasing beeps (what I'm referring to as its "closing range") will continue until the pinpointer is touching the target. I see tons of videos on a pinpointer's sensitivity. But none on its "closing range." I'm realizing that having a pinpointer with the ability to detect a coin at 4 inches, but only has a "closing range" of 2 inches may not be as useful as a pinpointer with the ability to detect a coin at 3 inches, but has a closing range of 2.75 inches (assuming this kind of pinpointer even exists). I also understand that the size of the target makes a big difference. With my ring, I may never get a solid beep from my pinpointer even when it touches my ring. Yet when next to a metal trash can, I get the solid beep when the pinpointer is 4+ inches way. So my question is: what pinpointer(s) have the best closing ranges? For example, the Fisher F-Pulse has the best (or among the best) range/sensitivity of most major pinpointers on the market. But does it have a correspondingly long closing range, too?
  19. Hey everyone! I just upgraded to a nox 800 at the start of the month, moving over from a simplex and pulsedive. I was having trouble getting used to the nox at first and was thinking of sending it back because I couldn't even detect in tot lots. Thanks to some posts on here, it's going a lot smoother. My question is this, is there a way to pair the pulsedive with the equinox headphones?
  20. Found some clubmates discussing who (and when) invented the first pinpointer. Google just found some hints. Feel free to discuss...
  21. Got sick of buying 9v batteries for my Profind pp. Blackube just came out with rechargeable 9v lithium batters that have the same voltage as an alkaline. A little pricey at $25 for 2 but the PP no longer falses out when put on it's side then turned back up. This used to drive me crazy. Batteries put out near full power until they run out instead of fading in power like alkalines do. IMO worth the few extra bucks.
  22. Does anyone know specifically what goes wrong with the Garrett AT pin pointers? Both of mine were sent in previously, and both of them developed the same issue again. They turn on but do not detect any metal. Is it the electrolytic capacitor, the flat pack The IC or is it in the coil itself that is the problem? Is that long rod a radio frequency coil? I'm kinda getting tired of pin pointers dying like that. Any ideas would be helpful.
  23. Hey everyone, new to the forum, so please go easy on me as I ask my first stupid question of what is likely to be many... So I'm just getting back into the hobby after many years (actually decades, but I'm choosing not to use that term out of denial!) 🙂 Back then things were a bit simpler it seemed, either that or I was young and ignorant... Anyway... I've blown all my "hobby budget" (or technically my wife did buying me a present). Getting the Minelab Vanquish 540 for Christmas to go do some beach hunting this summer... And I'd love to have a pinpointer to make things a bit easier when digging targets, but realize that I can't likely afford one. Unfortunately things here in NZ come at a premium, and all the "good branded, and known quality" pinpointers, are fairly pricy. So I am facing 2 options: Just suck it up, and wait. The Vanquish has a pinpoint mode, and that is probably good enough to do my first couple hunts. Then I should be able to afford a decent pinpointer such as: Nokta Pulsedive, which is about $200 NZD locally, shipped. Minelab Profind 35, which is about $265 NZD locally, shipped. Gold Century Pinpointer, which is about $99 NZD locally, shipped. (seems like a bit of an "unknown quantity", not much about this brand) "Cheap Out" and get a random non-known brand, imported one from Amazon, which I can justify now because it's dirt cheap, and then upgrade later on. The "SUMGOTT Waterproof Pinpointer" on amazon for about $50 NZD shipped (seems to have decent reviews on amazon if that means anything): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07YHCDHB6 The "UCPJLV Upgraded Waterproof High Sensitivity Pinpointer" on amazon, for about $85 NZD shipped (again seems to have decent reviews): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08HCR9XK8 What I'm seeking is some input on whether the cheap options are likely to work well enough for some basic beach and park hunting (not diving, maybe searching in surf or wet sand). Are they likely to give enough advantage just through their basic function, to speed up and enhance the hunting experience, considering the cheap price, even though I acknowledge I will likely want a better one ultimately in the future, and considering I do have a detector with a pinpoint mode. Or should I just stick to the detector only, use it's pinpoint mode, knowing that realistically it will be at least 2-3 months before I'll be able to get a "decent" pinpointer. Thoughts? Input? Suggestions? Anyone have any actual hands-on experience with one of these? etc... Thanks in advance!
