  1. Here is part 2. Hope you enjoy the videos, a lot of work has gone into this coil! Aaron https://forums.tarsaccisales.com
  2. In normal times this beach is a good one. Was able to bypass most of the caps with the Tarascci. The deeper ones had to dig some. Anyway the Stainless bracelet hit a solid +05. Foil area. Ring turned out Gold plated silver, steady +10. Eleven coins for 32 cents. A three hour hunt. Jeweler said ring would run around $300 new. Just scrap Silver now. Machine grows on you.
  3. Should have posted this review a few months back but never seemed to get around to it. I took a trip to Virginia in November 2020 for 6 days to Hunt the Diggin In Virginia event. Hugh Campbell was at this event also with his Tarsacci and hopefully he will add his thoughts. I used it 2 days and below is my experience with the Tarsacci for those that want to know how it handles the hot soil. Day 1-Used the Tarsacci for about 3 hours just to see what settings were required and how the unit handled the hot soil. Settings were 12 and 18 KHz, threshold -2, sensitivity 7, Black Sand OFF, salt balance 44, ground balance 552 (which surprised me), Disc mode with disc set at -30. The Tarsacci with the above settings ran quiet and stable. I dug a lot of targets, all iron just so I could confirm what I was hearing. Some targets were clearly iron as negative numbers were mostly present from all angles. However, some of the targets were really hard to tell if they were iron or not as the signal gave about 50/50 positive and negative numbers. I will elaborate more below in the comments about my 7 hour hunt. Day 3-Rained all day long, so I opted to use the Tarsacci instead of the GPX since it isn’t waterproof. The settings changed drastically due to the wet soil. In order to get the Tarsacci stable enough to hunt the wet ground I had to run either 6.4 or 9 KHz, threshold -2, sensitivity 7, Salt balance all the way up to 50, ground balance changed between mid-500’s up to low-800’s, all metal mode. Now let me elaborate on some of the settings. Black sand OFF worked best but the machine was quieter with is ON. However, the signal changed with it on to a more elongated signal which made it harder for me to tell a good target from a ground signal or bad ground balance. I ran all metal mode due to all the false signals running in disc mode. It was just easier to tell what a good signal was and then evaluate it in all metal. Now the ground balance was always changing like crazy from the bottom of a hill to the top of a hill. On the low ground at the base of the hills the ground was about 550, as you went up the hill the ground changed and you could tell by how unstable the Tarsacci got so I had to re-ground balance about every 10 feet, At the top of the hills the ground balance was about 810. From this experience salt balance could use a higher range. I was all the way up to 50 and could have used a few more points to get it right on. It may or may not have helped with the ground balance. I also tried tracking ground balance and the machine was not as stable as simply re ground balancing as needed. One thing I noticed with ground balance, if you got it on and then manually went down a few points to make it negative, the machine was supper quiet. But it was a pain in the you know what with the ground changing so much. If you could keep on the same level of the hills it would stay in balance for a while, but it wasn’t practical to hunt that way. Now for the targets recovered and how deep the Tarsacci is in the hot Culpeper soil. I used the Tarsacci for 7 hours in the rain and recovered 6 .58 cal. minie balls and 8 pieces of camp lead. Down to about 6 or 7 inches the Tarsacci has no issue telling ferrous from non ferrous. It’s the deeper targets down to about it’s limit of approximately 11 inches that things get tricky. 2 of the bullets I recovered came from about the 11 inch range, so I know it will get at least that deep and still be able to tell a good target with proper signal and ID evaluation. The Tarsacci will go deeper but at that point you are digging everything. Since targets were not closely located, I opted to use All-metal the entire 7 hours. When I got a signal, I would circle the target making multiple sweeps in each direction and watch the ID. As I said targets down to about 7” were no problem to ID. Deeper targets did give some good data as to what they were by circling the target and watching the ID. For the most part I dug all questionable signals so I could learn what to look for. Nails about half the time would double deep. Also, for the most part nails could be identified because they would read negative when sweep across the short side and had mixed positive and negative numbers when swept length wise. A bullet or camp lead on the other hand when questionable would read mixed positive and negative numbers all the way around and the positive number range stayed in mid 20’s when they did bounce. Now deep odd shaped iron was the easiest to tell because it bounced between -28, 29, 30 to positive 28, 29, 30 indicating iron wrap. I was fooled by quit a bit of bend wire as it did have the same characteristics as the deeper bullets. The area I hunted had been pounded by GPX’s for the 2 days before, so I feel like the Tarsacci performed pretty well in recovering 14 good targets. I hate to make this a comparison discussion, but I think it will help put things into perspective. A lot of people want to know what to use when they hunt this hot soil. I have used the Deus, Equinox, Tarsacci and GPX and feel I know them pretty well. The Deus and Equinox in my experience can give a good ID down to about 6 inches on coin sized targets, 10 inches on bigger targets like a breast plate. The GPX is really deep, bullets to 16 inches are not uncommon, but is also a PI. The Tarsacci is somewhere in the middle and definitely has it’s place and IMO handles the soil better than both the Equinox and Deus. If you are on a budget and lived in the area of Culpeper and could only have 1 machine, I think the Tarsacci would be my pick. It’s waterproof, light, and has reasonable depth. It also makes a great backup to the GPX for days when the weather is bad. I personally won’t take my GPX in the rain. Every time I have, even when covered, I always end up with problems. Last time it was my headphone connection to the battery getting wet and shorting out. The time before that the cable connection from the battery to the detector got wet and shorted out. The Tarsacci in the rain was issue free. I used the Garrett z-lynk system on it covered with a plastic bag and had no issues.
  4. Found this, maybe indeed very interesting? https://forums.tarsaccisales.com/forum/1/special-announcementreceived-12-coil-prototype
  5. Did some testing on the Gulf beaches with my Tarsacci and my buddies Excalibur. He was running the 15" nel coil. I buried a 14k ring with a string tied to it at 14" deep in damp sand. Tarsacci had a nice clear signal and the xcal did ok also. Now wet sand in water..... 12" deep nothing on either, as I pulled up the string the ring would be on edge and at the 10" mark tarsacci picked it up fine, but xcal did not. He has been running the xcal for a couple years and I'm new to tarsacci . Settings for the most part didn't change the way tarsacci was able to go very deep in dry sand , but I did lose a few inches in sand under water. I will do my best to figure out which settings work best. Very quiet machine for sure. Very impressed with it's ability to ID iron. But a 10" ring on edge and the xcal couldn't see it? Is that normal? Thanks for any input.
  6. The MDT 8000 has an IP68 rating - up to 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes. I’d call that more a wading detector than a mask & snorkel detector. On the other hand, I’d bet the MDT is at least as waterproof as an Equinox, if not more so. I don’t think any of these so-called 10 foot detectors have a genuine waterproof rating exceeding IP68, simply based on the coil and headphone connectors being employed The question being, how deep for how long? Who, if anyone, has had the MDT submerged for more than a few hours? I’d assume that simply wading using the supplied headphones, with controls submerged nor more than a foot or two, would be good almost indefinitely? Though technically that’s not what the rating says. Up to 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes. Anyone doing fully submersible? I just missed on a used set of Tony Eisenhower phones for the MDT, so I know that they at least are being made for the MDT. Is anyone else making underwater phones for the unit? I’ve got a set of Minelab yellow Koss I’ve considered converting, but need to prove I’d actually be sticking my head in the water more than I’m doing now before I’d go that route. The machine appears tight enough. The only thing I’d wish for off hand is that Dimitar double the number of threads on the battery cap. They seem sufficient, but just barely, and a few more turns would add some psychological safety at least.
  7. I don’t understand Polish and no captioning.... anyone know anything about the battery door in this video? One thing I’d like to see on the MDT is a more robust battery door, which currently has a short run of fine threads, barely enough to get a few turns. This alternative seen in the video is more like it - coarse metal threads and more of them, and a double o ring seal. Is this an aftermarket mod, or a recent change of design?
  8. So I've been running down every thing I can about it. Been hunting since 2000, 12th season this winter on the Gulf Coast. Hunting with a Infinium and At Pro. Back home, parks sport fields. So I'm gonna seriously look into this machine. Dancer
  9. How do I get replacements for the proprietary headphone jack adaptor and replacement battery compartment o-rings for the Tarsacci. I bought it second hand and not from a dealer. Thanks.
  10. Here is a great article written by Teresa aka (Coilpower) on the Tarsacci Forum I thought I’d share.... Tarsacci MDT 8000 Precis and Methodology for new users. Having used the Tarsacci MDT8000 for relic, mud, water, beach and black iron sands since the beginning of 2019, this article is aimed at new users and as an optional refresher for others including myself. A detector which gives PI depths but with target indication along with no sub menus....a weight of only 1.63kg, quality craftsmanship, superb ergonomics and carbon fibre components along with all the computations already dealt with “under the hood” within the unit itself, leaving the user free to only “fine tune” to the site being detected, is indeed “revolutionary technology.” It is those last two words that in the beginning led to the presumption this detector was for the more experienced users and primarily beach hunting. NOT SO. It was later found by users to be a multi functional, multi talented detector easily learnt. So..... all that is needed is the correct mindset, a little time becoming familiar with it and of course experiment like you would any detector. Several internet savvy people have taken great time and effort creating You Tube clips showing the attributes of the Tarsacci. For those with limited internet, I hope you may find the following exercises of some use thereby gaining enough confidence and eliminating frustration before heading out hunting with your settings....and.... READ THE MANUAL!!!! NB: Not written in the manual is which way to insert the EBL battery.....Insert it PLUS FIRST, otherwise it wont turn on....so don’t panic if you put it in wrong, no harm done. Legend: TrH on unit but written here= TH = threshold, Dsc = DISC = discrimination, Sens written SENS =sensitivity, Gb = GB= ground balance. BlkS=BLKS=black sand, St=SALT= salt or salinity, Track=tracking, Fc=FREQ=frequency. PP= pinpointer. AM=a true all metal mode showing ferrous or non ferrous target, DISC = discrimination, MIX = mixed mode.....audio sounds are AM then DISC heard in that order. Note the following “air” exercise is absolutely NO indication of the depths that can be achieved as the Tarsacci uses the earths matrix, also “test gardens” do not give quite the same results as “cold” hunting. 1. Collect a variety of tear tabs, bottle tops, coins, rings, etc....trash and treasure and keep these permanently in a plastic container for future use. 2. After the obvious basics of turning on the unit and becoming familiar with the buttons, note how the black outlined box has a much thicker black outline when engaged. It is then the user can change it. 3. BLKS and TRACK are the only two boxes that will be entirely filled with black when engaged. 4. Place each piece of trash/treasure on the lawn or concrete (without steel in it) in a large circle. 5. Find a spot and using PP make sure there are no targets heard under the coil. 6. GB the unit, then SALT balance. When BOTH of these are in correct balance there should be NO NOISES heard. The unit is SILENT!! 7. Generally a good quick middle of the road setting is GB of 560 and SALT 27 may suffice. If not, adjust SALT up or down. With experience gained I cannot stress enough to GB and SALT balance correctly for SILENCE from the unit to the point you actually take a swing over your spade/scoop to make sure its working! Chatter, even slight, will distort signal processing by the unit to identify your target in a clean, clear, precise manner possibly tricking you to ghost targets not to mention a cacophony of sounds through your headphones. 8. For this exercise adjust SENS to 4, TH to 0, DISC to 0, BLKS off, TRACK off, FREQ to 18 and swing over your circle once with different settings from minimum to maximum in each. 9. Go over your circle of targets firstly in AM, then DISC then MIX. Get used to changing this MODE button without looking. You will find a personal preference of MODE and in the field no doubt will use all or one of them. 10. Again doing the circle, change DISC to plus 30, then minus 30. Note the audio feedback received with regards to the iron sound. 11. Change SENS from 1 through steps to 9. Leave TH on 0. Note chattiness from high settings. 12. Change TH from minus 9 through steps to 0. Note the correlation with regards to depth, density and size. Note SENS and TH are a balancing act to achieve varying results, size and depths the user wants. 13. Do some circles with your eyes closed to concentrate on audio feedback alone. 14. Experiment with different swing speeds over a target. You will find the optimum swing speed for the Tarsacci which differs from most other detectors and when correct will give a clean, clear and distinct target sound. 15. This leaves you with BLKS, TRACK to use/not use in the field. Note that by employing BLKS it is an extra filter used to settle “chatter” down whether you are in black sand or not. 16. FREQ of 6.4, 9,12,and 18 are sensitivity ranges related to size and conductivity. Experiment. Basically by using settings on minimum and then maximum it will give you a good feel as to how each setting is integrated with another and the cause and effect they have in being altered upon other settings as to the overall balance of the Tarsacci and results achieved. Too high a SENS setting will give you an unstable chatty unit. Do not ever underestimate the power it has to surprise you.... even if the settings appear low. In time as your confidence grows you will find the optimum site setting no matter where you hunt. Just remember THE MOST IMPORTANT is to get the balance correct between GB and SALT to run silent and your swing speed. Thankyou for taking the time to read the above. It was hard to try and keep it short without overwhelming the user to “balance” all settings. This is but a brief insight into Tarsacci technology, exciting! Teresa (Coilpower)
  11. Was wondering what’s going on with this machine nobody really posting anything about it anyone using one how r you doing with it
  12. I am still learning the ropes but my thoughts so far after testing in a few gardens and a full fledged relic hunt in hot ground: Ergonomics - weight and balance - very good. It is well balanced and a joy to swing. Like it better than my Equinox in this regard. User Interface - OK, but a little quirky. No intuitive logic to the menu system but everything is at least on one screen, no diving into multiple sub menus like Deus. There really are not many settings anyway - Frequency, Volume, Threshold Disc, Tone Mode, Sensitivity, GB, Salt level, Tracking & Black Sand. Use of a highlight box to show the active parameter being adjusted works but is sometimes hard to pick up. Just takes a few outings to develop the requisite muscle memory to do the keypress combos without having to think about it. Setup - Turn on, pick your frequency, adjust volume, sensitivity to lessen chatter, adjust disc as desired (I reject all ferrous and use mix AM + Tones > this clearly differentiates ferrous from non-ferrous), set threshold, and the GB (single pump while holding GB button and release at the end of the vertical stroke), finally set Salt and Black Sand Preferences (this is a bit of trial and error on land vs. the structured beach setting methodology). Performance - In very hot dirt the Tarsacci easily outperformed the Deus. I was able to hit a minie ball at 8" in maxed out mineralization as measured by the Deus Fe3O4 mineralization bargraph. Dime at 5" no problem. Deus barely registered the dime as "a target" in Gold Field but no clue as to ferrous/non-ferrous. The Tarsacci locked on as clearly non ferrous but up averaged the TIDs and were a little bouncy. This totally impressed me. Did not have a chance to bounce it off an Equinox. I suspect the Tarsacci would win on the ferrous/non- ferrous ID but not sure by how much. Liked how non-ferrous targets at the edge of detection did not simply default to a ferrous hit. They appeared to maintain non-ferrous tones at max depth. My setup: Disc at 0, Threshold -2, Sense max (+8), Tone Mode - Mix, GB (750 to 850), Freq 12 or 18 khz, Salt in the mid 40's, Black Sand off What else I liked - Excellent Pinpoint implementation. If I got an iffy hit that bounced between ferrous and non-ferrous, I used pinpoint to center the target, went back to detect mode and wiggled over the target, that usually resulted in minimal falsing and a pure ferrous (or non-ferrous) response depending on the nature of the target. Pinpoint also showed the classic dumbell field effect on long, narrow ferrous targets (making it falsely appear like two closely-spaced, discrete targets, with the actual target residing midway between the dumbell targets). I like not having to worry about it in the rain. Wish wireless was integrated, preferably something like BT LL that would enable use of wireless, weather resistant phones. What bugged me: Coil bump sensitivity, ferrous high tone falsing, bouncy TIDs in general (see below), no logic to setting up Salt level (non-salt beach site) and no easy way to adjust for desired effect. Wouldn't use it simply to coin or jewelry detect in high aluminum trash conditions because IDs are a little bouncy and the pure disc-only 3-tone implementstion is audibly limited and does not complement the bouncy visual IDs well. Conclusion: As a pure ferrous/non-ferrous target discriminator in a low-non-ferrous trash environment and for decent detection of non-ferrous at depth in high mineralization environment, I like it so far (as long as you are not in a bed o' nails situation, despite decent recovery). Will be trying to get a comparison against Equinox at a mineralized relic site in the near future. What I'd like to see: More accessory coils, obviously. Wireless integration - I used a BT low latency dongle. Some logical guidance on how to set Salt balance away from the beach. Lower price point. More to come in a few weeks when abenson and I meet up at DIV.
  13. Hello to all, went this morning to the 50cal cartridge spot i knew more less were to focus .I decided to take 2 tools to dig (mistake)once i arrived midway the blue tooth started to play.I had to go back to the car take the Tarsacci Headphones and left the spade and kept the sand scoop. It was rainy ,windy plus sand flying all over the place, the main spot stayed exposed only 30min.......but the first signal was : A IMMERSION PUMP........ Second was a 50 cal cartridge and thought i was on a roll ,same as yesterday all targets where staying on the hard layer around 30/40cm once reach it is hard work and i still think i need 2 tools because the beach good spots are 15min from the car park. Anyway the coins were sharp signals the iron copper pennies give a funny ID and were not deep(a spade would have been better),all the shrapnells were as deep as the 50 cal and positive all the way. Now while i learned few lessons today regarding my kit,and were i need to improve. I really think the MDT once master gonna be the beach machine for me i just need to find a deep ring to be 100% confident. I am sharing those pics as a beginner will no Golds rings everywhere and Piles of silver coins it is only harsh reality here pounded beaches.......... Enjoy RR
  14. Hello Today i went to a Sandy beaches which has been popular since the 50s but also hit hard (as most of the beaches are).I took my MDT as i was told it was a potentially good beach for PI but i wanted ti try the Tarsacci 1st as it is Tarsacci week in the RR house.Anyway first target was the stainless tube which gave me a shit reading but i dug to keep myself warm. Then came 1 whisper in my headphones with positive ID took me 5 minutes to dig and the 1st 50cal cartridge was out then same signal and same target really deep maybe at 40/45cm (15").The copper deep too maybe deeper but could mesure as it was a fight to take it out, the hardest was i only took the spade. While digging those deep stuff i realise they were on a layer of crushed and broken shell under 35/40cm of sand,i shall be back there tmw God willing RR
  15. Look like a goooooood machine hopefully tomorrow i ll be on the beach with it RR
  16. Hello to all,i own a lot of machine but the MDT is growing on me .Went for a session with my mate Fred last night ,Fred has found tons of stuff and kilos of gold . Last night we went to a beach near our place, for a comparative test: Fred (45 years of beach combing) with his NOX big coil and 2.5 years of everyday with it vs Tarsacci and my meagre experience with it(3 hours😂😅).Well every target found by one was found by the other except the fuse i had a solid but very stable 04 and the nox was telling it was crap, very deep in the dark sand .We were far from the beach on the low tide line but lots of large iron still, some targets had to be left as we only took spades .This beach is hammered but i dug all funny signals(remenber i dont know the machine very well) The MDT will detect steel wire, nails and staple but with a negative number, basically like using a pulse with discrimination.Stable and well balance ,tones are still funky to my ears but i am sure i will get used to. I has been years since i had such fun with a machine early maybe but can't wait to try it more....... Now (I WILL EDIT THIS POST DEPENDS WHERE I POST IT),the price can be seen has high ,but we all love Artisan like baked cakes, coffees, small batch clothes or custom cars well i consider the MDT has one of those production unit.Made with care and tech. At the end of the day if noone had bought the 1st XP ADVENTIS with aluminum box maybe the Deus will have never seen the light. GO Tarsacci GO!!!! RR Machine own: Modded Lobo ST(2) 5.75 coil/F75DST snake coil/Deus/Modded SSabre2 with4"coil/ Modded Goldscan5c from Pulsepower ,Goldbug pro ,Nox800 ,xterra 705/Laser Scout 4: coil /Tarsacci MDT8000/Minelab Sovereign/Fisher 1266X/XP GMP
  17. Hello did 2.5 hours on a quiet beach tonight to have a feel of the machine,it was fun, once GB i started in mix by mistake then i turn into AM . I like the tones and the capacity to ID iron.Took some pics the 50 cal remains is probably from a Bomber during WW2 as this area of UK saw a lot of action......Wireless headphones used:MARSHALL wireless transmitter TROND this kit comes from my G5c.So far it looks powerful enough on large and medium stuffs Enjoy RR
  18. This is a awesome feature especially for the park and beach hunter, check it out! Thanks! Aaron
  19. How many of MDT users like the tones of disc mode? I don’t like it. It sounds like a toy. Mixed mode is what I use. Tarsacci MDT 8000 control panel and LCD display
  20. Abenson - “As you'll soon see in the video, The Tarsacci, Equinox and GPX can hold there own against each other. The only loser in the video is the Deus but it's out of it's element. Deus thrives in surface trash in my dirt not, deeper targets in trash. There's really no magic bullet when it comes to deeper iron masked targets.“ Tarsacci vs Vista X vs Equinox for Park Hunting Tarsacci vs GPX vs TDI
  21. Here’s a little test I inadvertently stumbled upon.... Thanks! Aaron
  22. Hope you enjoy this new video, all I'm trying to demonstrate here is that the Tasarcci is no slouch in dense iron against the Equinox. I'm not here to slam the Equinox, just to prove that the Tasarcci is equally as capable in dense iron! Regards Dave.H
  23. Tomorrow, 30th July........... im using the Tarsacci MDT on its first Roman site tomorrow,, The field has only the headland cut,, (wholecrop silage),, but I can't wait to experiment with the Tarsacci, I will only have a few hours to spare here but really looking forward to this opportunity! ive been detecting this site since the early nineties,, (Fisher 1265X) was the first detector I ever used here....(loved that machine),, and numerous other detectors since! Site has been detected heavily throughout, not just by me , but numerous of other people, so,,, should be an excellent place to see what the Tarsacci can unearth,,,, .. For the record, I detected this site last year and only found about half a dozen coins,,, in a whole days hunt,, so it will be a great test! Hopefully some photos of Finds to follow, and a brief summary of how it went! regards Dave. H
