  1. Today I sold a Whites TDI pro to a customer, we set it up and turned it on with the stock coil and did a few air tests. He heard that Minelab coils would work and other PI series coils. I suggested we try some Detech coils with the following results. The new 14in Mono Spiral wound ran quieter and air tested a little deeper on coins than the stock dual field. The little 6in Detech mono was a surprise as it hard and loud on targets for its size. When the weather gets better we are going to try a variety of the Detech coils and see which are worth having for the TDI, outdoors with more realistic buried targets. I`ll post what we find out.
  2. Does anyone know if the older detech monos are flat spiral wound like the newer Ultra sensing monos?
  3. As I was doing some domestic chores this evening the thought rolled into my head: "What is the smallest coil that was made for the GPX 5000?" When I bought mine in 2010 it came with an 8" Commander coil that was a lot of fun to use. I've since been told that a fair number of them went bad. I think mine is bad now. So that leaves me with larger coils and I think the smallest 'nose' I have is on the Coiltek Platypus coil. That is not very small. What is a killer pointy coil or small coil for the 5000?
  4. Greetings Forum members. I just joined and am hoping for a rewarding experience being a part of this Forum. I am in North Carolina, near Fayetteville. I recently moved here with my wife and dog---all our children and grandchildren are not close by---from Virginia where I spent many many years detecting with a lot of success. I am retired, both from the US Army and from the US Department of State. I am also a biblical archaeologist and spent a number of years on a dig in Jordan uncovering the biblical city of Sodom. I have a wide range of experiences and a wide range of interests. So far I have not found much opportunity to detect in this area. If anyone is in or near the Fayetteville area and would like to help an old detectorist get into the game around here, please get in touch. And no, I am not, not, looking to snake someone's honey hole. I love to detect and enjoy it a lot more when getting out with a partner, preferably a buddy. Anyway, that is pretty much about me.
  5. Has anyone used an 18"x4" arrow detech coil?
  6. Just curious if anyone has purchased anything from the DetechDetect.com website and if so, what your experience has been? Are there any issues with customs fees coming into the US? Some of the prices on Detech coils are quite low (i.e. 199 Euros for a 15" DD Spiral, which works out to about $214 USD). The company associated with this website is Asheras Ltd in Silistra Bulgaria. Perhaps they are a Detech distributor which allows them to sell at lower prices? The Detech USA website has been down since the outbreak of COVID. Thank you!
  7. Hi everyone. I have a question on this coil. I recently bought a bundle deal with 2 White's V3i 's and 5 coils. This coil has a sticker with DFX, MXT & M6 on it. The Detech's website shows two distinct model numbers for compatibility (V3, V3i) and this other one, the DFX, MXT, M6. I have only a handful of hours on the machine so far. I have been using it and have found coins. I don't want to waste time on this one if the other model # is specifically made for my V3i. My burning question is should I stop using this coil, is it not fully compatible, what are the differences between the two? Should I sell? Thank you. Richard
  8. I have been lobbying for over 6 years - more like a decade - for somebody to produce a replacement for either the White's Bigfoot, or Tesoro Cleansweep coils. These narrow 18" long coils are superb at scanning large areas for relatively shallow targets, making them excellent for jewelry detecting in large fields, and for vacuuming up recent coin drops. They are so efficient at this that some planted coin hunts prohibit them as an unfair advantage. Also great for beach detecting recent drops, relic/coin hunting huge fields, patch hunting for gold nuggets, even meteorites. See my long thread here for details on the subject. The short story is that the Bigfoot was a 3" x 18" figure 8 wound coil, specific to some White's models. This design has advantages, but is very hard to make, pretty much a hand made coil. And to really work best, a detector needs to be optimized for it (see additional post below). Barring some process breakthrough, I expected getting this coil back into production to be difficult at best. I therefore also concentrated on the Tesoro Cleansweep design as an option, as it is simply an elongated DD coil, much easier to produce properly in volume at lower cost, and with no oddball operating characteristics. I tried to get Nokta/Makro in particular to make these, as they are generally open to new ideas, and I thought, and still think, a detector sold with this coil as stock would be a unique offering that would attract attention. That came to naught, unfortunately. Then, about a year ago Detech contacted me on another subject. I used that opportunity to once again bring up the elongated coils as an ignored market, and they seemed enthusiastic about pursuing it. But then nothing, silence for a long time. I pretty much gave up hope. I was contacted by another old detectorist on the subject recently, and said just that. I had lost the original contact info from Detech, and was resigned to these coils never happening again. And frankly, I have one, so I'm covered. I just wanted so much for others to be able to get their hands on these coils, especially for machines that never had them as an option. Well, miracles happen!! I just was notified that Detech is producing a 4" x 18" DD coil that will be available soon (not sure how soon, but they may chime in on this thread hopefully). I do not know the weight or price, but with Detech I am sure that the price will be reasonable. The best part is that it will be for more than one brand of detector. The list I was just provided with: - MINELAB'S EXPLORER / E-TRAC / SAFARI - FISHER'S F75 - TEKNETICS T2, G2, GAMMA / OMEGA - GARRETT'S ACE AND AT PRO - WHITES' DFX / MXT / M6 And so without further ado, let me give you your first look at a genuinely new product for some detectors, the Detech Arrow! One of my favorite all-time coils is the Detech Ultimate series, so I know they make some great coils. This is a niche coil, but one many people crave. I want to give a very personal thanks to Detech for doing this, as it is something I have tried hard for a long time to get somebody to do, and they have granted this old guys wish finally. Thank you!
  9. Has anyone bought a coil from trace- detectors off ebay out of Bulgaria
  10. I am happy to report for Garrett Axiom users and potential buyers you will have a range of aftermarket coils available for it from Detech Detech Ltd have said they are very interested in making coils for the Axiom and are currently preparing to make a range of coils for it. The excellent news is also they are planning on making DD coils, Anti Interference Coils, Spiral coils, and very likely Concentric coils. They will offer open and closed designs. Their aim with their range of coils is to make them very deep, sensitive and at the same time keeping them very light in weight. They are going to follow this thread, so if anyone has any suggestions for the size or type coil they want or think should be produced by all means report here so they can see which would be the most popular types of coils for it. I personally would like something like a 6" or 8" Mono, an 11" Anti Interference coil, a 11x6" Mono (spiral if possible) and a 11x6" DD, a 15" spiral mono, a 15" Concentric, I could go on forever as once there are options there are so many good coils you could have. This is outstanding news for Axiom owners, and is really going to push the Axiom to the next level. For those of us that have used Detech coils before you'll know how good their coils can be. A little background on Detech Ltd the company. Detech design and manufacturing advanced hobby metal detectors, treasure detectors, and deep seeking search coils. In 2001 the company designs the first PI detector in the world with microprocessor control, touchpads, and graphical image of the signal. The SSP series find wide markets and huge sales, and the funds received to allow the opening of a new branch of the company – the production of accessory coils for the leading brands of metal detectors. Detech Ltd is the first company in the world, applying search coil with built-in magnetic sensors in the middle sector. This allows perfect discrimination of the ferrous objects by the PI detectors. Trying to escape the stereotype of the round coils in 2006 the company releases a new, revolutionary type of coil on the market – S.E.F. (Symmetrical Electromagnetic Field) coils, known also as Butterfly coils. These search coils combine the advantages of both DD and Concentric coils: All Detech coils are made using high-quality materials. The housings are made of UV protected material. Their inner side is covered with chopped-strand material for better shock resistance. We use resins, which are “transparent” for the electromagnetic waves, and perfect shielding. The coils are water-resistant and operate in a wide temperature range. The search coils come standard equipped with an excellently fitting cover and have two years full warranty.
  11. Was looking to add another coil to the line up. Already have the stock 11 in dd and a detech 12.5 in dd coil. Main use will be relic hunting in Va but possibly wet sand at the beach. Liking the 15x12 sef for being lighter . Any recommendations will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  12. Not an update for the Detech coils, but for anyone looking to add an additional Garrett coil to their Axiom. It looks like accessory coils are becoming available through a few dealers, starting with the 11” x 7” DD. That worked for me, I wanted that coil originally but didn’t want to sacrifice the MS3 headphones to get it. Price was around $205 with free shipping. Just received mine last Friday. Of note the Axiom package you purchase comes with coils that have pre-installed removable protective covers. Accessory coils do not include these protective covers so you just need to swap with one from your set until Garrett gets those on the market. I assume the only exception might be for the 16” x 14” accessory coils. Those might ship with a cover installed since Garrett seems to want to set you up for success with at least one cover of each size. Just a guess.
  13. Really like this coil on the Simplex. Been keeping me away from my Equinox. Great coverage and sensitivity to near surface finds where the Target ID is reliable on this detector.
  14. I am thinking of buying the detech 18 concentric coil for myself 5000 especially for relic hunting but I would like to know if this coil would also go for nugget hunting. If there is someone who is using it for that purpose, I would appreciate it if you could inform me how it performs?
  15. If so, what are your thoughts? Is it sensitive? How does it handle EMI? Does it punch deeper than the gp 18 inches, as their ad claims??
  16. I used my Detech 15 inch ultimate coil to with a gain of 8. moderate mineralization. Started getting a lot of chirping.Had to go down to gain 2. Is this normal?
  17. I would like to know if anyone has used the 18" detech spool and if it is worth the depth gained by buying it with the detech Dd spiral 15. Since I have that same spool. I leave the image of the coil.
  18. Today the weather wasn't that cold and when the rain took a break I ran "The Arrow" and the Ultimate 7" DD on the VX3. That really is a nice coil so to speak. Pinpoint is very good, the three targets in the vid are 3", 4" & 5" deep and no problem at all. Wohoo 😁😎, that will be fun to use on the beach and in the field. Very well done, Detech.👍
  19. I know somebody is making a new 18" BigFoot style coil for multiple detectors but I'm having trouble find out who. I'd like to see some reports of performance, etc. A little help please. Thanks Tom
  20. Anybody tested Detech Arrow coil? For Whites?
  21. Will open the box tonight and should be able to go outside tomorrow before the sun sets.
  22. Hi. I'm looking for a smaller than the 6x10 DD coil for my White's detectors. Would like to hear how the 7" Ultimate performs depthwise and how target separation is.
  23. From my friend Atanas at Thrace Metal Detectors. Has them for many of the top models. Euro currency. 4x18 inches free shipping. Nice
  24. Today I was watching the web (again) to buy the Arrow for my White's. The only shop I came up with was one in Bulgaria so far. So I tried amazon but had no luck to find the Arrow for the DFX, but came up with this video... and thought it might be of some interest to some of you. https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/H1VzUbJq2QS.mp4 Good Luck & Happy Hunting
  25. I was just notified of a new coil for Simplex - 15" Ultimate from Detech. The Ultimates are great coils, high performance to weight ratio, so good news in my opinion.
