Oak Island: Just looked at S12 E15, well, the same thing happened.

Gary: I got a signal! ( a nice signal )

They shut down the digger (so he can detect without the noise)

Gary: Let me see if it's close to the surface; and gets his pinpointer out.

Gary: I'll try to pinpoint it first.

Gary: See if I can save you some digging. (to the helper)

Gets the signal again: He says its there!

Helper digs a shovel out.

The helper says: I went into the dry stuff, is that's not it, is it?

Gary says: That was brick. You see that piece in the hole there (in the shovel)

Right there? Helper pulls the piece of brick out.

Spoken Comment : A piece of brick?

Gary:Yeah. I'll put it in my pocket

Gary: It just goes to show you we're not missing anything there.

and they walk away.

Me: Well, I don't know, maybe brick does give a good signal?

I will try it the next time.

If they ever find anything significant on Oak Island, we will hear about it long before the show comes out. There's no point in watching until then.

Good day

I have not watched the show so i dont know what types of things they find on that island.I can tell you that for some reason the colonial bricks the spanish used  are dark red and usually give a very high tone on all machines. old sites from like 1600s and up´there is a layer of these  small fragmented bricks that make it harder to use the vdi of machines  im a 100 % sound oriented hunter so i dig everything . Im not sure but if they used black sand from local beaches which are full of volcanic minerals so that may be the cause.

Did not know that skywatcher, if that is the case, that might be the reason for sure. But then they would have said something, I think.

Yes, old, highly mineralized Roman and Spanish ceramics can give a signal response, /similar to hot rock/  ,...and it is a demanding material for detectors, both in terms of range...when detecting in such conditions..

That is why I have a test box made with such ceramics...which I use to test not only the detection properties of the detector..but also the correct settings and program of the detector for such detection in terms of detection stability..

I live on the NH coast. It's a similar type of area as Oak Island. Old bricks are common along the NE/NS coast wherever clay is found. They were crudely made right at the clay site in the 1600s. Brick-making sites often have random rejects and broken bricks lying around or below the surface. The useable bricks were often loaded onto boats and taken to a house site miles away. Some old bricks can occasionally give a hot rock signal. Finding a piece of brick on Oak Island does not necessarily mean it was used for building something on the island.

I've found a few on the beach here in central Florida that have given me a signal! Most have been a tan color, not the typical red brick type!👍👍

I have a tailing pile in my back yard. The dirt was from my claim. A lot of under 2 gram size gold. I ran that dirt in a Gold Well sluice. It gets it all. Ran my gold monster detector over that dirt the other day. Loud signal! It was a red brick.
