klunker
R. Chris Did your neighbors nugget have gold in contact with the serpentine? I've always suspected the possibility but have never seen it. klunker
Thanks. Might have to do some re-thinking. there are some areas around here that historically produced a lot of fine gold with small areas of heavy gold- always on or near serpentine. Serpentine/shale contact areas have always been some of my favorite. And the source of some of my ugly nuggets. Rick Watkins
Ok, since your comparing ugly nuggets here is a pic. Of amethest and quartz in between is quite a bit of gold im not sure what to do with these, I dont want to break it up, should I try to slice it where I think the most gold is at or weigh it and leave them alone? Could make them uglier yet I think. Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/180-the-685-ounce-ugly-nugget/page/2/#findComment-1243 Share on other sites

Steve Herschbach
Hmmm, Rick, hard to tell but I do think those are probably some really good looking specimens. Amethyst and white quartz is a good thing! Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/180-the-685-ounce-ugly-nugget/page/2/#findComment-1246 Share on other sites

Steve Herschbach
Looks like you just need better lighting more than anything. Try it in sunlight or with a flash.
