I have both ALTER 71,ATREX and VERSA...they are amazing machines...

One of the many Roman coins found with ATREX..on this site..,this is one of my testing grounds... Terrain checked ..also.. EQUINOX 800, and XP ORX -9HF coil ...

Now it is a testing ground for VERSA....

Now the next part of the video on how to set up the Rutus Versa Detector for meteorite hunting. Practical tests on meteorites and comparison of different settings, as well as field tests.

After this video was made, I was thinking over the day's performance, both test bed & field.  I had encountered some coil knock sensitivity while hunting from the weed & twig stubble. This was something I did not remember really happening before.  I traced it back to the NC 4.7 addition of F Mod tone length primarily. This is a great feature, but its sensitivity is not without side effects. Dropping the tone length down to 3 or 4 cured the knock sensitivity.   This is with the DD28 11" coil.   I then wondered if the smaller DD24 would have the same issue, and another thought,  will the expanded HR adjustment of NC 4.72 allow the smaller coil to hit the deeper targets in the minerals they previously would not?    Happily/Thankfully it does. Now the smaller coils will be effective at depth in the Minerals as they are in milder ground.  Also, the DD24 coil is not nearly as knock sensitive as the DD28.  That's a plus also.

Another characteristic of the F Mod tone length that has become apparent on my Iron trash relic sites is the F Mod allows the iron to false much more readily.  Dropping back to tone length 5 is much more intelligible in these conditions.   On a cleaner site, or one where the iron is not prone to false, the F Mod option is very good to add nuance to the audio.

The Versa is not available for sale in the USA at this time. Hopefully it will be in the future.

JCR ..if M-Fast is more responsive to iron for you...you can use two things..

The first is to slightly lower the Booster in the program you are working on.....

The second thing is to use another Field program that can best eliminate iron even at a higher Booster setting of 17-20...

That is the setting I use,,, quite often with the Dual Field program.. and the detection efficiency is very high..

Of course you can also turn off Fast mode... and detect in normal mode..

A big advantage of Versa is that it has great and experienced Field Testers, which is why the software is so effective and really works, and is constantly evolving.

Just picked up a nice Alter 71 V 2.0 to replace my 1.0. Nice new features. George.

Small field targets will no longer be hidden!

You already know the DD24 coil for Versa - stable and perfect for small targets. Now, discover its larger version. The DD28.5 coil has been optimized for effective small target detection. Its design - two reinforcing ribs provide very high stability, and the narrower shape has resulted in a very low weight - approximately 465 g, making it ideal for searching in meadows and fields. The range for small targets is similar to that of the DD28 coil. It will be available in the second half of September as a set with Versa and separately.
