Minelab GPS For CTX And GPZ With Notes On XChange2

Recommended Posts

Steve, I haven't read article #2, and maybe you address it there or will, but how well does the GPS work under the canopy of pine trees like in the Sierras?  I use a Garmin Etrex with a high sensitivity antenna to mark my spots, reception is slow but fairly accurate.  I don't own a GPZ, but I hope to someday soon :)

Thanks,

Brian.

Article 2 has not been posted yet. GPS unfortunately relies on satellite reception. My experience is that with multiple satellites in view reception under a tree canopy is pretty decent, but if relying on marginal satellite views gaps can and will show up. What happened when a track is being recorded is that a gap in reception shows up as a straight line between the last point with good reception and the new location where reception gets picked up again.

Your mileage may vary.
