Possible mineral ID match, "Ilmenite". I found a bunch of rectangular black coated minerals, the black is some kind of oxidization on the surface of the mineral. They are sparsely throughout all areas of the mass. The black coating can be seen at various stages of melt resulting in a bright silvery metallic looking melt, the oxidization slides off on some and others have a skeletal shell. Here are 3 pictures from the web shown first, then my pictures for comparison.

Is it possibly some sort of slag? It certainly is interesting and pretty, whatever it is.

Do you have a geologist or higher you could consult with? I was joking a little bit about the Second Moon asteroid piece, but just think if it was a piece of it! All the GW buttons in the ground would pale in value to your roid! Seriously!

It very well could be. I'm with you, very interesting what ever it is.

Yes, I have samples on the way to Act Labs in Canada for whole rock testing. My luck its dinosaur poop with minerals from New Jersey. No matter what happens I'm now thinking the second moon for sure, hopefully there are dinos on it. The wait is on.

If I was a betting person, I'd put a lot of money on the rock being an asteroid. I see all kinds of rock and metal formation within. You might have just hit the lunar lottery! 🙂 I can see the newspaper title now... "Man with Metal Detector Finds the Motherlode from Outer Space!"... And I'm not joking this time!

That would be something if it is Lunar, it would be the only one found in the USA, South America and Europe. Very slim chance but you never know, that would indeed be a big story.  I didn't find it with a metal detector or in a field, lets just say I found it very close to home burying my cat that I inherited over 20 years ago. I guess the cats out of the bag. I feel better now but privacy was my first thought at the time of posting. I know how media can be as I worked for a TV station. This is a feldspathic rock that looks like it has been slightly over cooked to me. If it is a meteorite I would guess maybe a,  Granulitic Breccia as the clasts are not obvious, but it could also be from home sweet home so waiting for the report. Close ups of some meteorites can be found at this site. Couple of my pics for comparison. I'm betting with you...
