mn90403
Many of us know about the present forum problems and hope Steve finds an easy fix. It has already taken too much of his time. We'd like to think our posts and this forum are going to be around forever but we know that is not the case. This is at least my 4th Forum that I use almost on a daily basis. I've gotten to know some of you pretty good. It was one of the reasons I went to New Zealand. I know a Forum Member. I have enough private messaging with him now that we'd still be in touch with each other if this Forum had an unrepairable crash. If that were to happen which is unlikely, where do other members hang out? I hear mention of the Dankowski Forum often. I know there is Prospecting Australia but I don't use it. I know there is another Treasure Site. Treasure Net I don't know about other nugget forums. Where do you guys hang out when you are not here or if you are not here? I don't Facebook but you could list it and then we'd all know where the active, sensible still posting spot is if we dying to post some finds.
Popular Post phrunt
I wouldn't concern yourself Mitchel, I'm 100% confident this forum will live on for many years yet, if not decades. When Steve eventually throws in the towel it will likely be handed over to someone else to take the reins rather than closed down, I anticipate the forum will outlast a few more major detector brands yet 🙂 The current problems are troublesome, but not something that means the forum is at risk of closing down. The database randomly corrupts itself for no explainable reason, reverting to a backup resolves it in a few minutes, now Steve is aware of this the backups are being done daily and at a time that most of the days posts are done and dusted with the main communications happening during certain times and then a dead spot while people are sleeping. The mass loss of posts that happened is a one off never likely to be repeated. At this point its narrowing down the source of the problem. Once that's done the problems will be gone, and it's well on the way to being resolved now, the problem is, you don't know if it's fixed, you have to wait and see, which makes it a time-consuming process, however with the far more frequent backups I would feel pretty confident to post anything now knowing it's unlikely to be lost.
Popular Post Northeast
Mmm, really hoping that things can continue here and that Steve can get things working with as little fuss and work for him on an ongoing basis. I am a Prospecting Aus member and will continue to use it. Do have a Facebook profile but not very active. Can't imagine that I would join another prospecting forum to be honest. As a side note though @Steve Herschbach this is pretty much the one and only place on the internet I would pay if that was required to keep the doors open. If what is needed is a new server or host or whatever the hell technical term is the right one and it was going to cost more than the bit of revenue you make from Google ads then I would be more than happy to tip in some $$ to assist. And I can't speak for everyone obviously but I think there would be enough of us here that would pay $20 a year each if it was helpful to you. I know you have strongly avoided this for a long time but if it needs to be considered then it could probably work. 14

Popular Post Gold Catcher
This is a forum like no other, and there is nothing out there that I know of that comes even close. Steve, I agree with Northeast if there is anything that you need for professional help to be paid to fix the problem, please reach out to me. This forum is and has been an inspiration for me, like I am sure for many others. Let's keep the dream alive. And besides, I bet virtually every detector company is following this forum to get feedback on their products, be alerted of issues, and to understand where the next product lines should go. In fact, I bet they would pay for all of what you need, just to keep this forum alive for their own sake 🙂 GC 10
Popular Post Steve Herschbach
Well, double-checked database and made backup at 10pm, with plan to install first thing this morning if it crashed overnight. I was relieved to find everything still running very well this morning. The last crash may have been just very bad luck. Even so, Pair has a person assigned to this now so I am hoping they do find an answer. What I do not want to hear is "can't find anything." Then it's just hope and pray day by day. But if they find something and fix it, then we will soon forget all this as an event in the rear view mirror. Thanks for all the kind thoughts. It does seem this forum is last man standing in some ways. And it certainly does matter to me that it matters to you all. In fact that matters to me more than anything. If people did not care so much I'd be less likely to forge on, no doubt about that. You have all been loyal to the forum and I won't let that go unreturned. Thank you. 7

Nugget Shooter had been headed downhill for almost 2 decades. It was overrun with political, opinionated and argumentative posts and haphazard uneven moderation. It never really righted itself once it started to slide. This forum is a model for how one should be run and moderated. There is room for disagreement and opinions. Steve's rules are clearly set out and we are held to account if they are not adhered to. Over time the general tone of the forum has been civil, informative and positive. I hope it doesn't go away because I have never found a forum like it anywhere. Opinion of course 9
