I am glad NF are trying to make a go of the stacked 12x7” spiral in the smaller sizes, it’s going to give the Algoforce and modded 5000 more of a fair chance at hitting the smaller bits that the 6000 hits on so well. It will also be the same sized coil in comparisons as the Exceed and probably have similar performances kinda like what Nenad shows the 9” Goldhawk vs the 9” Elite doing in the performance comparisons.

Hopefully Coiltek can also make a go with the smaller stacked spirals in the 10x5” configuration. Coiltek also seems to keeps up with the supply and demands of the marketplace.

I think 12x6" is as small as they can go with the semi spirals, 12x7" would be a logical choice for NF as little investment is needed, they already have the shell from the 6000's coil.

I believe the 9" Coiltek is already semi spiral as it's too small not to be.

Yep, spot on Simon, the dual layer spiral coils need height and width to make them work. the internal spiderweb former has to be about 1-2mm thick which adds to the dimensional problems. The 12x6-7-8 or 9 round designs are as far as the concept will allow dimensionally. A stacked mono is the only way to make a smaller mono coil with a flat wind. Even this adds height, much like the old school Co-planar coils we had in the day....

Coiltek have the manpower and dedicated R&D team to build new product much more quickly. Having the HQ of Minelab a few km down the road from their factory is probably a nice bonus too....

I asked Rohan yesterday about the NF 8x6" Xceed coil, unfortunately as he's had some trouble sourcing "parts" it won't be coming out this year as he needs to make a lot more of the 12x7" size to keep up with its demand, and his website currently states he's unable to make 12x7" until he can get the parts but he cleared that up saying he's started to get some parts again but still has supply problems.  I think we all know what these elusive parts are 🙂

Hopefully next year, it's the one coil I really want for the 6000.  I asked about edge sensitivity as the 12x7" Xceed lacks it and he said the 8x6" will also lack the edge sensitivity, that must be known from the early prototypes.

Odd Coiltek can get it on their 10x5" though, but anyway, sometimes it's the size that matters and fingers crossed he can bring it to market next year.

That size would have to be the most sensitive size available and probably pick up some very small gold deeper than the other coils, winding type dependant.

On the subject of prototype coils for the GPX 6000, is there anything planned for a DD elliptical coil (or maybe I've missed a thread on this)?  I hunt a brushy area with a lot of power lines and have had good success with the 14" DD but would really like to be able to get between and under a lot of this brush where the 14" can't.  Maybe the size of the Exceed 12x7 or the Coiltek 14x9 mono's.  Are there physical limitations with the windings or perhaps parts availability?

We've all been hanging out for a smaller DD, it doesn't seem likely though unfortunately.

Couple of my buddies hunt with the Axiom and really like it.  I would have considered it too except I already had the 6000.  If I did anything I'd probably step up to the 7000 unless ML releases something really special soon and I just have to have it.
