I believe Garrett has made this step down in price it would be a hard road to get back in the price range they’ve had in the past.

I hope they can continue to carry some important words they carry now and that’s American made.

I’ve already said I’ll buy the Vortex not that I need it but support American made and Garrett at the same time.

PS I got my blue shirt 👕 ready. You may not know this but you need to be color match with your detector when coin hunting. This very important that I can’t express it enough.

Then I better wait for the Camo Version of the Vortex LOL

I have never been a garret fan started off with a whites . Well as the saying goes you get what you pay for  .  Lets think this through a little if  the top machine cost is 600 lets say we need fatten the pockets of stock holders and big shots by doing a 200% markup so thats 200 in building material cost and 400 ish profits just an estimate.

I would say that in paper this is a good overall machine for that price if it delivers the power of the storm the better.

looks like it will do good in fresh and salt water , some mineralized soils and can be one of those pickup quick and pack detectors . looking at freq it offers  i dont se why it cannot pickup small 1.5gram nuggets at what depth who knows. How it will work in single freq is also unkown and to what depth. So for those prices its competitive looks good so far..took them a decade to come up with this so i think under the hood there is a pretty good brain capable of more upgrades through software updates and new coils like deus did. But always remember the production cost.....btw what kind of money you think is tied up in a gpz 7000.

I don't think it's the best overall value. Taking into account the features, build (shaft), and included accessories, I'd say the X-Terra Elite is better value and the Triple Score even better value.

Debating the overall value of a detector that isn't even available yet is purely speculative.  Performance is a component of value.  Make your assessments after the Vortex is out, not before.

I wonder what now becomes of the AT series.

How many are in inventory (at Garrett and in the dealers' stock)?  That may be the driving force behind how much longer they continue selling them (and likely at a considerably lower price for the reasons you indicate).

Consider auto makers.  They frequently pare down current models to make room for the present/future models, or more basically stated: to reflect what the demand is.  There are only so many assembly lines; thus fill them with vehicles (detectors) that are likely to sell the best.

Do the AT's offer anything that the Vortexes don't?  (That's not rhetorical.  Those familiar with the AT's should be able to answer this.)

At Max & AT Gold have true All Metal Motion based modes.   This would be a wise update/upgrade for the Vortex V9.

This may be the lull before another storm will hit when some of the other detector companies wake up. It could be sales that make history but only time will tell.

I wish 1.5 gram nuggets were considered small, in most of the world that's quite a special and rare find to get something over a gram, and generally in the places that a 1.5 gram nugget is small a VLF is a pointless way to try find it.

A massive range of aftermarket coils, it's yet to be known if aftermarket coils can be made for the Vortex, these multi machines often require some sort of electronics in the coil, even if its intention is not to prevent coils it's still an issue, especially without having to buy parts off Garrett, if they'll sell them.  They had absolutely no interest in helping aftermarket coils for the Axiom, so who knows, the Vortex maybe no different.
