Good work there F350. 7 hours in the sun is a lot !!! That ring thingy with the bumps, could it be an old parasol part?

Thanks LC,

You might be right, this beach has been popular for a very long time, Steamboats brought thousands to it a long time ago. I can imagine parasols all over the place, and in the 15mph constant wind that kicked up yesterday I'm sure a lot got broken 🤔 That wind was the saving grace for me, it was right off the water, the river hasn't warmed up too much yet.

Thanks strick,

I'm leaning toward pin or part of a birding medal, it's really small. One leg missing, same in the back as front. Lens says it's a Blackbird.

Here's the ring, a new one on me. Supposedly the process to make these is expensive.

I managed to get some 5mm neoprene dive socks that I could wear inside some old Columbia water shoes I have

Good choice, you have created a hybrid between hard-soled dive boots and shoes, with certainly less expense.

One thing I noticed yesterday was that for some reason targets were difficult to retrieve, especially when the waves started later. A few days ago here most of my targets came up within 4 scoops, this time it was taking 20 minutes just to get them sometimes , and sometimes it took so long I gave up. Perhaps you dedicated scoopers can shed some light on this?

There is a lot of movement these days and wider tides...

I would walk along the shoreline to find the hardest spot under the soles and enter the water exactly opposite it.Few times striking signals on the shore are as effective in the water.

It's a different game, that's all 🏴‍☠️

I thought I was doing something wrong, I was putting the scoop behind the coil, and scooping forward. Probably was the incoming tide and the wind driven waves now that I think about it. They were about a foot high by then, and the tide comes in fast. I'll chase down a 50-79 ID on the Deus until I get it, only left some 93s behind, they were quarters. I was probably pushing them all over the place.

I'm going to look into the shoes you guys recommended, I need to do what I can do right now because the jellyfish haven't come in yet. Last year they were around all year 🙄

There is nothing wrong with the retrieval technique you describe, on the contrary if the swell pushes toward the mouth of the scoop, maybe it helps you filter out the sand and sediment sooner.

Finding yourself digging more than you should and not having easy access to the targets unfortunately is a very common situation and is generated by the simple fact of continuous layer variation.

You would think you were walking on level ground, while uneven trenches are hidden underneath.

All we can do is to continually feel the texture of the layer, until more obvious signs show rocks or rather boulders carried by wave energy.

I don't walk, but with my digging hand I often hit the bottom with fists.

Brotherly advice...On D2 consider 40 to 80 as a safety range...Several surprises start at 40 points.
