Popular Post Skull diver
Actually not much to report for this week, if anything the M9 had a fairly quick break even with three rings under its belt. Two of the three, were recovered last week and thus not new, but the third turned up Tuesday morning after sunrise buried well over 10 inches...No wonder, considering the 7.77 grams of 14K. Bad surprise was the acid test, where just the heaviest one turned out to be 9K complete with a 585 mark typed inside. A real scam into which the owner also fell, because inside it bore the bride's name and thus a fake wedding band or at least passed off as 14K but with much less real value. (This ring appears next to the M9 logo). About the M9, there is little to be done, once in the dive, exceeding 20 points of sensitivity with beach LC, is out of question. With the M8, one can dare a few more points and given the non-appearance of broken bracelets or necklaces, I will return to use it soon. Definitely the M9 is more akin to rings, but not to links in bracelets and necklaces. Have a great weekend to all of you! 16 1 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26113-m9-2nd-week-and-wrap-up/ Share on other sites

Maybe you haven't put the coil over any chains? Next dive take one or two down with you and bury them a bit under the sand to test. They may come soon when you hunt just the right area and then you will know for sure. Nice job so far. 2 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26113-m9-2nd-week-and-wrap-up/#findComment-276154 Share on other sites

Soon or later it will happen, but as for now I'm highly doubtful this can be without a charm on the links... With the M8 I pulled up two thin broken bracelets in the middle of nowhere, so shocked to found it without any other targets around or near the area. A clear evidence of two passed over pieces remained downthere to be found...And rarely I trust luck in our business 🫢 2 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26113-m9-2nd-week-and-wrap-up/#findComment-276165 Share on other sites
Compass
Thanks Skull diver! I only have the 11" stock coil and have been trying to decide between the M8 and M9 for a smaller coil and the M8 sounds more to my liking. Nice finds BTW. At least the bride and groom most likely never knew that they were duped. 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26113-m9-2nd-week-and-wrap-up/#findComment-277831 Share on other sites

At least the bride and groom most likely never knew that they were duped. I want to remain neutral and do not take a position for or against any coil regarding Manticore. Unfortunately, I am afraid I cannot understand the behavior of the M9 compared to the M11 and M8. I would have expected less noise with two inches less and this is not the case. I would have expected better separation and sensitivity at small targets, but I see that the M11 uncovers bits that I cannot see with the naked eye while with the M9 strangely not. The M8 I still cannot find the words to comment on. I think I've used it 70 percent of the time since I got my Manticore and I've paid the instrument back on it in 55 days.... I also had the misfortune of damaging the cable, but all this well after using the coil.In fact I caused the damage to the cable just by going back to using the M8 and removing the M9 to keep it aside. 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26113-m9-2nd-week-and-wrap-up/#findComment-277898 Share on other sites

Unexpected results in places where I'd expect to find something only with the M11 due to the layer thickness. Not to mention broken stuff giving signals like anything in good shape... That's the jewel coil and I keep it like an art piece🤣 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26113-m9-2nd-week-and-wrap-up/#findComment-278037 Share on other sites
