Think about it... What metal detector manufacturer can give us a new featured detector without changing the hardware. I believe Garrett's new program is an industry first. As a current happy Apex user, personally I don't want more than is already featured for the VX9 given the way I like to hunt. I love simple menu architecture, large ID numbers and detectors that remember your last settings. But given fact the Vortex VX9 displays ferrous anomalies, has huge numericals readable in direct sunlight, adds an additional frequency to be used multi or singular, offers frequency shift, dynamic ground balance, controls iron volume, allows processor speed control, has a indication of target depth, has only one battery to charge, is waterproof and needs no antenna, adapts to my existing Garrett wireless headphones and pinpointer, has a good size-range of searchcoils that don't cost a fortune, and is built like a "brick outhouse" is quite exciting to me for the price! Now add more iron control and tonal diversity? Geeez! I can't wait!

It sounds like none will be able to copy either, they've a patent pending.  Smart move by Garrett, the competitor will patent anything, even their factory canteens pie recipe.

I think you're right though Bob, it's going to be a great detector.

Garrett has always been savy to patent their innovations. Good thing too because I love pie! 🙂 I don't even care if it goes deeper than the Apex. I've gone after coins and buttons in plowed fields surprisingly deep. I'm fortunate to hunt good soil that is not extremely mineralized, but it's not neutral either. Garrett's ground scale considers it "high" 85/99. I think the extended frequency range and reactivity control will just make my experience with the Apex even better. I suspect the VX9 will ID better at depth as well. Take away two of the five audio breaks with lowered iron volume and you will have one great detector for the cost!

Minelab?  Meat pie?   If so they should do a bundle with a frozen case of those added in! Manticore meat pie has a good ring to it 😂😂

The one thing I do wish is Garrett would give us the option of which coil we can get or offer us a pro pack with two coils the standard coil and then a 5x8 Ripper would be my first choice or 6x11 Viper would be my second choice if I could choose which coil that came on my Vortex it would most likely be the 5x8 ripper  (This is of course personal preference for ME)

I personally do not use large coils and have a whole room full of large coils that I do not use for other detectors I own, I would prefer the 6x11 Viper coil or the even smaller coil 5x8 Ripper coil for my Vortex, and yes I realize the 8.5x11 raider coil is really not that big of a coil but it is bigger than I like to use

I'm the opposite, small coils for me on a coin and jewellery detector for beaches and parks are a big waste of time, I'd love the 14x11" and 8.5x11", not too interested in the smaller coils.

It can't be long now until they open the flood gates!

The areas I detect have tons of obstacles which makes a large coil a pain in the butt to maneuver and we have no beaches here so unless California falls off into the Pacific Ocean LOL I will never detect a salt water beach of any kind

I guess it's a good demonstration why it's important to have a range of coils on offer, and by the looks of it Garrett will have at least 3 or the 4 coil options available at release.
