Manticore Firmware Update Ideas?

Recommended Posts

I thought I'd start this thread by acknowledging the ideas so far from Skull diver and Fishersari

1. Clock function (displayed on main screen)

2. Recovery speed (displayed on main screen)

Keep 'em coming !

Fix the menu scrolling - when you reach the top or bottom it should continue, so reach the bottom instead of just beeping to let you know you've reached the bottom it should go back to the top.   It would speed up menu navigation.  Why it doesn't have a cycling menu I don't understand and a simple thing to fix.

Improved Target ID stability

And the good one they like to slip in "Various improvements" as that's the stuff they're too embarrassed to admit to 🙂

From the Nox firmware.

This is a point on which I have given up....
Probably using LC as a frequency standard makes it less stable and noisier, but if it randomly happens to see an ID that doesn't vary more than two points, by God, that's gold.

Exactly yesterday, I was on YouTube and had to concentrate to figure out the settings of a user with a Nox 900 (or at least I think so, considering the red backscreen)...

What caught my attention was that he was not only finding gold on an eroded bottom, but the whole combination of shoreline, dark sand, large coil, and sensitivity about 3/4.

I had to capture a screenshot during the movement because seeing the "dash-dash" screen is something really rare on the Manticore.

At this point I am really starting to believe that they are two different machines...At least in terms of sensitivity management and general stability...

I might give this thread 30 days and then forward to Minelab to see if they will give the green light to anything.

Agree 100%........all of my gold rings (and some deep ones) give a very solid ID. I'm guessing the uniformity of rings certainly helps and probably the weight helps them settle on a flatter angle.

I have been fortunate to encounter several forms including pendants, broken bracelets and even smashed rings...On each occasion the ID was as stuck.A rarity on any other target that unfortunately recurs often with aluminum, but that is another story...

Maybe we can ask Minelab for a program that discriminates out only Aluminium 🤣

They probably have the tech already 🤔
