Ferrous Grump
Although I have metal detected for 12 years, I rarely go into the Atlantic ocean to hunt amongst the waves. When I use my Deus II it seems to false each time a wave goes by me. I suspect I should run Beach or Diving program in the saltwater and then lower Salt sensitivity and Reactivity until it runs smooth. I am just concerned it will be set too low to pick up buried objects on the ocean floor. I have tried to find online videos for advice but it seems the only ones are in lakes or the Gulf of Mexico. F350Platinum
Keep an eye on Audio Response for one thing. It tends to amplify EMI and any other anomaly that causes falsing.

Reactivity almost has zero effect on depth up to 3 [never used much past that] But one really needs to watch their swing speed with a higher reactivity and smaller coil. Salt Sensitivity, kind of Meh. Run that 7-9 and have no worries. Be more concerned about Black Sand accept/reject. I would always run a D2 at the beach with Black Sand Accept. In the end>>>>Only use diving if you have to [it is not the greatest on gold] and control everything else with sensitivity. After many years on this machine with moving salt water I would say if you are hunting with a 90 sensitivity and above don't worry too much.

If set in reject>>> this will seriously affect detection of small gold.

Diving mode is also has the least depth ie 9" coil has a 9.5" range of signal before it starts to fall off but diving mode it showed only 6". I have a lot of black sand here and able to run with salt sens between 7-9. Higher the better for jewelry. I also use 24khz so it's less chatty and use tracking. If gb drifts at all then decrease salt sens. I have a custom setting based off of beach sens. Magnetic reject helps here along the river that is loaded with hot rocks.

This setting confuses me If you're still in trouble with weird noise when in fast waters, all of Midalake suggested settings are ok, but also pay attention to the "audio filter" parameter. Low reactivity of 0.5 to 1.5 in beach sensitive can be ok, but you need to reduce of course audio filter on 1 otherwise every swing can produce a signal reminiscence due to elongated response. I've lost ages to find out this was the key to quiet it down the D2 in P12 with saltwater surrounding the coil. If not for ID's allocation, I'd still own the thing. Sensitivity on 85 as last resource to manage ballbreakers noise🤣
Timmysys
Over a sandy water bottom, as I moved the coil over the waves in the sand, the sound of the machine followed the bottom pattern.
Ferrous Grump
So...after asking in various areas, made sure my antenna wire was secure and replaced the carbon lower shaft I bought for the stock shaft. Things are running smooth underwater and I look forward to not missing any treasures!
