M11 Coil Mod, Cut Out Struts, Light And Fast Underwater

That is very nice.. Did you encounter any downside yet?..Im going to do the same mod + steveg non conductive rod after my warranty expired.

Let us know if you have any problems with it's performance (falsing, stability, wear without the skidplate....)

I may try a similar modification on my Nox stock coil,due to wrist issues after a bike accident i am trying to reducing the weight on all my main machines.

I'd like to do this to my M15 but there's still 2.5 years of warranty remaining.......hmmmmm, what to do.

I'd still like to know why Minelab (and Coiltek) feel the extra ribs are necessary ???

I notice that the M15 only has four ribs....the M11 has effectively 8 ribs which is strange.

If I remember correctly there was a video from Manticore early days talking about the extra ribs. It's for minimizing falsing from coil knock due to Manticore extra power.. I'm surprise when M15 came out with no extra ribs..

So the ribs are more for "damping" than strength......I don't quite understand the science behind that but maybe there's some truth to it.

I did that with my Equinox 800 11" coil. Definitely lighter. Didn't have any problems with it.

I did it to mine as well. I only use the 11" at the beach and it has worked great, no issues. For me it helps immensely with pinpointing as I can see through the coil now whereas before all the ribbing worked against me visually. What I don't get is all the hate that people spew. I'm following a FB group that is currently ripping on this idea. It's a $250 coil. Some people act as if you have committed a crime. 

It's like ripping off the tag on your pillow that says unless you're the owner of the pillow you're going to jail.

It's YOUR coil, do whatever YOU want with YOUR machine.
