Do you have to seal off any exposed openings with JBWeld or the like after the cuts?

No, nothing is open.  I used a reciprocating saw with a metal blade a very fine tooth blade for the cutting and then I used a Dremel to smooth everything out

I use it daily and I've had zero problems I have not noticed any falsing of any sort it acts exactly the same as it did when it was 5 oz heavier

Is the weight saving 5oz or 3oz.......my stock M11 coil without cover is 490grams or 17.3oz.

Is the final weight of the chopped coil 14.3oz / 405grams ?

My calculations have an 85 gram weight loss.

Thanks.

Details, please.  Which of these measurements are yours?  Any of these from Minelab?  With skid plates (aka coil covers)?  (E.g.  I just weighed my M8 at 362.3 *without* skid plate.  The factory skid plate weighs 22.2 g.  So total is 384.5 g.)

Coil attachment screw comes in at 4.1 g.

My M11 w/skid weighs 524.7 g (and there may be a gram or so of dirt in that since I haven't cleaned it lately 🤔).

Thanks for the info......I'll work on a chopped M11 at around the 400g mark. In reality, it might be less due to a reduction of sand stuck on the removed struts.
