I wonder what the actual weight will be with cut out + steveg nonconductive lower rod

I think the Steveg non conductive lower rod will be slightly heavier than the Minelab carbon fibre lower ??

I'd be happy to be wrong on this though !

Nice work, been considering this mod.  The M15 weight makes the machine rather unbalanced.

I'm moving back to the M11 for my general beach work......the M15 is a great coil (and to be honest the 650g weight is very respectable)...but is nose heavy. I tried with a harness but I hate harnesses. The depth advantage to the M15 (over the M11) is marginal and pinpointing the deep small targets can be a challenge. I've got the Dremel charging up as we speak.....surgery for the M11 will happen once I pluck up the courage 😲

Well after more indecision......I've decided to keep the M11 standard and the surgery will not go ahead. I'm using my counterweight on the end of the upper shaft which balances the whole detector and M11 coil perfectly. The thing is an additional 100g of weight at the end of a detector shaft is quite noticeable when you are swinging for 6 hours....but the counterweight offsets this nicely and my shoulder is happy again !

My m11 coil went from 17.2oz to 14.4oz.  I had to go back and find a picture that I took of the coil on my postal scale many months ago. I kept thinking it was 18 point something oz but it's not it still saved the weight and it's super nice in the water

Bill----My accurate scales shows the M11 coil at 18.9 oz.-----I'm still contemplating "surgery".
