Did you use hot gun for the skid plate on the coil itself? If yes I wonder how high was the temperature needed to bent the skid plate You might be right re. the vibrations? I used the hacksaw and then Dremel to sand it down. Perhaps it didn't like that too much. When forming the skidplate I heated the plastic over a wooden mold which was the same shape as the coil, so no heat was applied to the coil itself. It wasn't tested in the water, only switched on above dry sand for about 30 seconds. I probably didn't notice it at home as I had to put the sensitivity at 2, assuming all the noise was from electrical interference. I can see the bits you were referring to on the right hand side of the coil. Hard to know where the problem might be....others might spot something though. I wonder why those two struts that were removed had epoxy ? More likely you nicked an artery off to one side (probably the Rx side on the right), especially if the windings weren't central and were to one side a bit when potted. Ytuber Savannah Harps told a commentor to only remove the hollow braces. His is that way and he has been using it with no issues. I am wondering why the solid braces show up lighter in the xray than the hollow ones, and what are those small dashes in the solid ones? Maybe this could be part of the problem since 2 out of the 4 solids were removed. One of my 11 inch Nox coils suddenly became incredibly noisy . I sent it back to Minelab and they told me that they had found a micro crack in the potting mix , One little bit of water is all it takes . They did give me a new one. Maybe cut the struts and then apply a coat of high quality sealer over the cut areas for insurance ?? 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26429-m11-coil-mod-cut-out-struts-light-and-fast-underwater/page/8/#findComment-286723 Share on other sites
