Popular Post Joe Beechnut OBN
Rough day Tuesday, headed out on the boat.. have a great spot but we never made it. 15 minutes out at 5mph.... the motor started missing when it was cranked up so we slowly got back to the ramp and headed home. Runs fine as long as it's not cranked up in the 3 to 4 grand rpms. Headed home started smelling brakes, which turned out to be the transmission on the truck, got home and told my buddy, I want to hit the water today...lets try driving to a different beach. He drove his car ... 5 hours later ..3 silver coins and one 5 gram 14k band, which somewhat helped the mood I was in.. Not much trash using a PI, I did have a golf ball size piece I unloaded but think I dug 4 pieces of iron. A few weeks ago I hit the same beach with the Xcalibur, targets were to deep for it so I knew this trip take the AQ. Plus I had made a couple new batteries for my AQ's so testing them to see how long they run.. figured about 8 hours..so far 5..need to check the voltage and run each out. These are 21700 5000mAh Samsung Li-ions, bigger than the normal 18650s 3500mAh I used a few years ago.. which gave me when using 4 cells 5.5 hours run time.
schoolofhardNox
After a rough start you did very well. A decent size gold ring, a few silvers and some really encrusted copper cents. I bet it felt good just to be out in the water!!!
Carolina
Sorry to hear about your boat and even more about your transmission. Told Greg what you said. He should be calling you.
CCadrin
Good to see you are out and hunting. Congrats on the gold.
cudamark
If it smells like brakes, and it isn't the brakes, it's probably your clutch. They smell similar when overheated.
tvr
Glad you got out and got some gold! Sorry about the other stuff ... boat = bring out another thousand ... learned that about 25 years ago, so inflation now makes it many thousands. Good luck with repairs!

Honestly once I hit the water only a few times did the earlier events come to mind. It was a great day to get wet. Thanks T, I was very displaced after but it will work out for the better. Think I have all figured out now and can get back on the boat in a month. I've been waiting 4 years to get a ramp pass on the Magothy river, another month will not hurt. On 8/15/2024 at 8:47 AM, CCadrin said: Good to see you are out and hunting. Congrats on the gold. Thank You! I'm shooting to get out once a week from now on, doing other things around the house the last few years and gained about 20 pounds, that needs to come off. And hopefully the gold pile will grow. On 8/15/2024 at 11:58 AM, cudamark said: If it smells like brakes, and it isn't the brakes, it's probably your clutch. They smell similar when overheated. Yes, nothing like the smell of brakes, clutch.. and this one is a automatic, I think the old pilot has towed it's last boat ..... it's served me well. I love that AQ for sure and the other stuff,... is just life, I've been Very Blessed so this is just a bump in the road. Boat should be easy, bad gas I believe...the truck is being replaced, got my eye on a Ridgeline.
