Bob S.
5 hours ago, OneAcre said: @Bob S.... Turns out Nylatch fasteners are still made. The vendor is Southco, they do indeed send evaluation samples. Heres a link to their caralog page: https://files.southco.com/static/Literature/ny-wg.en.pdf That's great! The captive NyLatch fastener (page 498) is indeed what you need. Just check your battery door hole diameter vs. the box hole diameter and order accordingly. Pay attention to the cumulative panel thickness too. You may just find an exact replacement. So glad to see someone still enjoying older analog technology! Those detectors coincide with the era when I started metal detecting. That old Bounty Hunter IB 100 (likely 100 Khz) can still out perform some modern detectors in harsh iron environments. Pleased I could be of help.
OneAcre
So heres what I ordered. The door and detector cabinet are the same thickness, just under .050. The hole in the door and cabinet are also the same, .297. I'll post installed pics when they arrive. While they do send evaluation samples, you still have to pay $10.99 shipping. Sven1
Just what I started looking for today, for a Tesoro that is missing two for the battery cover.
OneAcre
@Sven1... They come in 3 hole sizes and several panel thicknesses. The Nylatch fasteners mentioned by @Bob S. have all the dimensions listed on their site. https://southco.com/en_us_int/search/?q=nylatch The Leviton 47615-NYL fasteners mentioned by @Noah (FL) and used by @Rick K - First Member for his Tesoro don't give any dimensions. I ordered a bag of 20. They are too small for my application, about 1/4" hole size.
OneAcre
All... As promised, here is the finished battery latch install of Grommet NY-5G-52-20 and Plunger NY-5P-52-4-50 on my old Bounty Hunter BFO. The fit is perfect. The plunger is available in 3 head sizes. Pic 2 shows all 3 side by side, the part number is for the medium -big enough to easily grab, small enough not to catch on things. Again, thanks to @Bob S. for the Nylatch lead.
