George Kinsey
Three things that are paramount. Frequency selection, sensitivity setting and transmit power. To lose 90 percent of the ground noise I had to run low sensitivity and transmit power. Tried Hyper Q today with fair results. As time allows, I will go down the frequency ladder to see what the results will be. Never picked up any RF interference. More to follow. Fredneck
My best success with any VLF in Culpeper involved a concentric coil, preferably a 12", it would turn heads. 😉 Shame most have done away with them. Good luck with the new Garrett. 3 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26564-v80-initial-testing-in-hot-ground/#findComment-280440 Share on other sites

Good luck with the new Garrett. I have been hunting in the Culpeper area since the 80's. Hunted most of the DIV sites before they had them there. I used a Garrett ADS and later in the 90's a Whites Blue and Gray. I would only use a Ground balancing pulse now. 5 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26564-v80-initial-testing-in-hot-ground/#findComment-280472 Share on other sites
Chase Goldman
Blue and Gray a Classic. I know someone who still occasionally uses it in hot dirt. 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26564-v80-initial-testing-in-hot-ground/#findComment-280559 Share on other sites
Fredneck
Oh, I assumed the hot ground you were testing the V80 was in that area. My toy from the 80's that's very similar, 5500D. 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26564-v80-initial-testing-in-hot-ground/#findComment-280620 Share on other sites
