Ferrous Grump
I have a Minelab Excalibur II that needs TLC as well as a Tesoro Sand Shark. I am having trouble deciding what I should do with each. I feel for the price of getting the Excalibur fixed, I could buy one of the newer machines for about the same costs and have a warranty. The Sand Shark is a PI machine that seems to short out when in use. 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26566-used-broken-metal-detectors-i-have-a-few-and-am-looking-for-advice/ Share on other sites
Matt4gold
Research Issues with both and DIY repairs. If you don’t have any experience with electronics try to find a friend who’s does have some. Last resort, sell for whatever you and invest the money in a new detector. 2 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26566-used-broken-metal-detectors-i-have-a-few-and-am-looking-for-advice/#findComment-280417 Share on other sites
Bill (S. CA)
Personally I would sell both as is on Ebay and roll the money into a new detector. The Tesoro should fetch a good price even though it needs repair and Excals are always in demand. kac
Sand shark look for any corrosion inside on the wires and board. All clean inside then it could be bad coil cable. Usually if a pi shorts out its toast.
