Rattlehead
I’ve tried most of the name brand pinpointers and just keep going back to the carrot. It’s reliable, durable, ergonomic and easy to use. The easy to use part is a big one for me. It has a large flat button that’s easy to find by feel alone. Can’t say the same for the other ones I’ve tried. Most have a small flush mounted hard button that I have to pause and physically look for. That may not sound like a big deal, but considering the fact that I dig thousands of targets per year, that little bit of time saved really adds up. The Profind 35 was terrible in my opinion. The shape, the functionality and the button. 5 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26572-pinpointers/page/2/#findComment-280490 Share on other sites
D&P-OR
Glad I asked the question about the Pro Finds. :)------Is the Garrett Carrot we are talking about the new/improved/updated one---or---the older style Carrot? My experience as well. I picked up a GP pointer from Temu for my Granddaughter just a few weeks ago. It’s already broken, but for the short time it worked, sensitivity was non-existent and the quality wasn’t even close to the genuine Propointer. Not that I expected it to be. I guess some folks get lucky and get one that actually works. For me, it was a waste of 8 bucks. 2 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26572-pinpointers/page/2/#findComment-280492 Share on other sites

I have 3 of them. All are the old style without Z-link. I don’t have any Garrett detectors, so no need for it. My oldest one was purchased right after they were released and still works fine. The other two I got for backups or loaners. 2 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26572-pinpointers/page/2/#findComment-280493 Share on other sites

DSMITH
I use the Quest X Pointer Max the new version that comes with the Magic Holster and so far I am liking it a lot, have been using it for quite a few months now after using the original X Pointer Max Thought about giving the Nokta Accupoint a try but for me personally there just was not enough of a differences between the Accupoint and the X Pointer Max to make me try one, the X Pointer max has pretty much the same features as the Accupoint, and being able to connect my pin pointer to my headphones is not that important to me, I love the Magic holster that comes with the Newer version X Pointer Max, the Magic holster allows you to turn the X Pointer Max on and forget about having to constantly turn the Max on and off while out detecting that's a great feature that I would rather have over being able to connect my pointer to my headphones I also have the Fisher F Pulse which is a good pin pointer and the one I would be using if I could hear the dang thing the other thing I do not care for with the F Pulse is it is very easy to inadvertently change settings in it without realizing you have done so also own the Nokta Macro 2 in 1 Pulse Dive which is also a good PI pointer, the only thing I do not like about the Pulse Dive is its Large compared to other pin pointer and heavy compared to other pointers, you could almost use the Pulse Dive as a club to defend yourself if you had to LOL Have never tried any of the Pro Find pointers so cannot give an opinion. I own and still use the Original Garrett Pro Pointer that I purchased in 2010 it still works and the only reason I started trying different pin pointers was the Pro pointer was just getting old and starting to have a few quirks that I just felt it was time to try something else, there is a lot to be said when a pin pointer has lasted as long as my original Garrett Pro pointer has Lasted, it was just a over all great pin pointer Would like to give the Sphinx 3 a try at some point but just have not attempted to try and order one yet 2 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26572-pinpointers/page/2/#findComment-280500 Share on other sites
RickUK
The main one that i have used is the good old reliable Black Garrett pinpointer,it just keeps on working year after year and will get another on when this finally goes to the great detecting scrap yard in the sky, another decent one which i used prior to the Garrett was the Whites Bullseye very reliable and still take it with me albeit not used much and alas no longer made. I also have the XP MI-6 or what ever its called,i push my spending allowance on this one and although its ok and works as a standalone one,it keep dropping out of connecting with my D2,when it does work its great but un-reliable connection wise so i just carry it as a backup. 2 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26572-pinpointers/page/2/#findComment-280501 Share on other sites

Here's Garrett's webpage showing the three models they sell. Just to be clear, when people say 'carrot' they are referring to an orange A/T ("all terrain" ==> waterproof) model. AFAIK, there has never been an update on the carrot (but I could be wrong). When they say "INCREASED SENSITIVITY" I assume they mean in comparison to the (black) Pro-Pointer II (which is not waterproof). That was a fore-runner to the carrot in terms of time of release. Yes, there's a Z-Lynk version with wireless compatibility (option) as Rattlehead replied, but performance-wise it's the same as the non-Z-Lynk A/T model. 4 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26572-pinpointers/page/2/#findComment-280507 Share on other sites
