What more specifically I’m talking about is maybe an iron tone , a midway tone
( end of iron  -to about nickel range) and a high-tone ( end of mid tone range up to maximum conductivity as in coins and nonferrous relics. I can tell you if a scuba pointer with a 4” coil and 3-tone audio was available, I’d want one in my detecting arsenal. Wouldn’t be inexpensive, something just over $200 I would expect.

The Minelab Pro-find 35 & 40 have an iron tone indicator. I found my 35 to be a good reliable pinpointer. I find having an iron tone indicator useful on archaeological digs to quickly identify a blob. However when using it as a hobbyist detectorist it is not so useful. You need to get it close to the target before it starts giving the iron indication pulsing. You end up so close that you might as well dig the target anyway. There are some times when the iron target is long and would be a hassle to dig out, so useful to know that it is iron. Of course it could still be an interesting iron artefact worth digging.

They've not updated any of their legacy (i.e., pre: 2023) products from USB Mini, probably because they were grandfathered in by the EU USB power connector standardization requirements.

They did release their two-box coil with a USB-C power connector as that was required by law.

I find the XP charge management accessories to be a huge weak link and point of frustration amongst XP users despite the decent tech that is under the hood of their products.
