I recently lost my wedding ring at a beach in Kenya, and it holds great emotional value to me. I am urgently seeking someone with a metal detector to help recover it. Ideally, the person would already be in Kenya, in which case I would gladly cover the cost of the service. However, if the person is in neighboring countries like Zanzibar, Tanzania, or Uganda, I am more than willing to discuss covering the travel expenses as well.

If anyone has contacts outside of this forum who might be able to help, or if you are planning a trip to the region in the next few weeks or months, please feel free to reach out.

Thank you so much for any assistance or information you can provide.

Hi buddy sorry to hear. I think your best chance is on a local facebook page or seeing if you can hire one? Alternatively maybe you can purchase a cheaper one? Assuming it was lost on the sand and not in the water?

If it was lost on dry sand, a Minelab gofind will do

Usually, there are more "detectorists" out on the beaches than most people realize. Many of them hunt early in the morning or in the evening and go un-noticed by the public. The faster you take action to recover your ring, the better. If you wait weeks or months to get a detector on scene your ring may be long-gone. Good luck!

I am not on side anymore because it was just a holiday for me. Now I am back in Europe. So buying my own detector is not an option and the only fast action I can take it to find somebody online who can help me.

Got it. Perhaps it is worth trying to contact one of the military bases in Kenya. I understand there to be 600 U.S. military personnel at Camp Simba in Manda Bay, Kenya. When I was in the Navy I would go metal detecting near the different bases I was stationed at so that may be a possibility. Good luck!

This is a great new approach. Thank you for that. I will see if I can find somebody stationed there.

Good luck with your ring recovery. If you have any pictures of the spot you think it was lost showing the background behind the beach ? They would help anyone detecting immensely with finding your precious !

I know exactly where and when I lost it and also have a lot of pictures including the background to determine the spot. But I am not willing to post them publicly. But if I can find a person who is willing to go there (close to Malindi) than I am happy to share them.

Hey hey, I've just ordered a metal detector in the US and will begin my journey as a treasure hunter this coming January.
I live in Nairobi, Kenya and would be happy to give it a shot to help you out finding the ring.

I'm totally new to this but always up for an adventure and to learn.
