I think that is the titanium scoop I have. 👍 Put it on a 48" SteveG carbon fiber shaft with a raptor handle. ~2 pounds. It compliments the XP 9" coil.

They seem to be out of stock.

This is my opinion only but try and test out whether you prefer a "V" or "U" style leading front edge and base. I say this because I found that in firmer packed sand and shell, the "V" style tends to roll to one side easily when taking that first bite....it kind of pivots on the "V" whereas the "U" style stabilises more readily when you set it on the sea floor. I can recall rolling my foot and ankle many times when I had the "V" style. Like I said, test before you buy. Others are perfectly happy with either style. The "U" style also takes a wider initial bite due to the shape.

Just my personal take only........coming from a seasoned professional who just got washed out to sea.😗

I'm using the Stealth 720i scoop with a pointy tip. I've had it roll more times than I can remember. The worst time I was on the wet sand, and everything was flat, and digging was easy. I had a target and aggressively stepped on the scoop not knowing there was a big shell just under the surface. It rolled so quickly, down I went. LOL The only thing hurt was my pride as a group of people weren't too far away and saw the whole thing. Really took me by surprise and got me to slow down. Bottom line... If I could choose only one, it would have a pointy tip as most of the time I'm digging in shells and small rocks. I'm in the market for a strong lightweight titanium and just might get the Extreme, but some people are talking about Chuck? and the scoops he makes coming out with something new in a month or so. I'll wait until then.

That's good to know OG.

The one and only scoop that I have ever had and used I bought in around 1980 and to say the least it was a dinosaur and may as well have come over on the Mayflower. So is @Ridge Runner going into the scoop biz?

Hope to see some healthy member discounts Chuck.

I've got the same Stealth scoop (purchased two about 10 years ago) which isn't too bad. It's more of a blend of "V" and "U". The real pointy ones aren't for me that's for sure. I think the secret is take it easy with the first bite and let the scoop slowly sink in naturally before applying force. I'm after something lighter for the lower beach.....dragging the big steel scoop behind gets tiring especially when it fills with sand as you drag. Carrying over the shoulder is uncomfortable. Titanium....maybe but the cost is up there plus would any future welding be expensive if needed.

Didn't Sunspot change hands (quality went down) and now is closed ?

I feel your pain! Looking at the Extreme website it says they give a 10-year warranty when purchased with a handle.

So, I'm looking at $645 for the complete setup I want. Probably doesn't include shipping either.

From what I've read... yes closed. So much for the lifetime warranty.

Hello Chuck, Just found out who the other Chuck is... He is on the "Friendly Forum" and goes by the name Owl Engineering. Apparently, a number of people are excited to see what kind of scoop he has to offer. Bob
