They are both great detectors. The XL Pro with the needle display locks right on targets. I wouldn't mind having both of them again.

If I had to pick one. I would take Bill's modded IDX Pro.

It's been a long time since I've used them. I used a friends XL Pro once for a short hunt. It has incredible id. I would say one of top ones. I had a White's 5900 that was like it and it cleaned out an area really well. I've hit many times with other detectors and haven't get much more. I'm not sure on it's depth.

Bill's modded IDX Pro I had seems like the depth was good. I was in a park with a Sovereign and the modded IDX to check signals. The Sovereign got 2-11" Indian heads dug by hand. That's very deep targets. Before I dug them I checked them with the modded IDX. It didn't get a hit in disc but hit them all metal mode. I don't know the depth of it.

Both detectors are very nice. There are new detectors at low prices that work very well. Like the Nokta Triple Score and Minelab Xterra Elite. It's still nice having some older detectors around. My older one is the Tesoro Tejon.

Hope someone else can help you more.

I see lots of Post of how Great the 6000 is

but also how good the mod classic is

since both are same and different one 2 filter other 4 filter

never seen what model is actually better

I want one for pure nostalgic

seems the analog meter of the 6000 is the plus but they hate the auto ground balance

and having a whites 5900 with a big box is a big no no

i wonder if idx and xl pro side to side will one will be more preferred

You want both! I have two 6000 XL Pros and two Classic IDs with the Bill Mod. The XL Pros go slightly deeper and ID better.  However, the Classics will do better in super trashy areas because of the 2 filter design. They hit the good stuff in a bed of nails. You can go nice and slow and they are awesome with a smaller coil. I bought a Classic ID from Sven, who did additional mods along with the famous Mr. Bill mod. It is truly one of a kind. Anyway, both detectors ID correctly in "all metal" mode and take the same drop-in slim battery pack. However, the 6000s have the best threshold ever made and I still use mine in fields and parks with less trash. They ignore big deep iron better and work best in GEB Norm or SAT mode. This allows them to go deeper than the Classics and the needle on the meter will tell you little things that are more beneficial. These detectors compliment each other very well! If you want raw power for deep relics get a White's 5900. I have one of those too. I hunt faster with the analogue detectors and pin point better with them because of the concentric coil design. Less bells and whistles work best for me. I mainly just use my high-end digital detectors for water hunting and small gold. Each detector has its purpose. I don't think I could ever own just one.

Did anyone here try this 2 detectors

I know one is 4 filters with auto balance

the other is 2 filter with added manual ground balance

if you had to pick one what model will it be

I have both. Hands down my IDX Pro with Mr. Bill Mods. The hard-to-find Eliminator coil is my favorite to hunt under bleachers and along metal fences. It only works in all metal but still will identify your target. Stellar. George.
