Just picked up another nice Beep and Dig a Tesoro Tejon, this detector appears to have been used very little, gonna be another fun Beep and Dig to fiddle with, just received it in the mail today, photos do not do it justice looks like it sat in a closet for most of its life.

Nice looking unit.  This appears to be the 'Black' version -- notice the entire shaft is black and the control unit faceplate is darker than the standard version shown in Steve's database.  I think the biggest difference is that the standard version came with a concentric coil while the black has a DD coil.  (Tesoro had a special name for DD coils; I forget it now but it's in all their catalogs.)  Oh, and the price was different -- higher for the black model.

Some of the Tesoros (and I do mean the ones with changeable coils) were optimized/adjusted for the specific coil that they came with.  Thus sometimes changing coils didn't result it optimal performance.  Pretty sure the end user can make the adjustments himself -- i.e. the pots are accessible -- but as to how to choose those adjustments to get that best performance....  🤷‍♂️

Besides being differently colored than the base model, for the collector I suspect fewer black models were made.

Looks brand new…… it’s even got The Newer DD Coil on it.

That was my thoughts when I opened the box it came in, the price was to good on this one for me to pass it up

Try to snag the 8x9 concentric for that beast. 8x11 coil is ok but not great.

Congrats!

Try turning the ground balance a  little negative, counter clockwise. Monty called it power balancing.

My Tejon with the 9x8 concentric has the best separation I've seen. Calabash's test with Tejon recently wasn't right. HIs disc was to high and there had to be something in the concrete testing a nail because that's not how a Tejon works. Maybe somethings wrong with his Tejon. My 1st disc is set slightly below iron on the disc. 2nd disc is set above foil.

In my mild ground it hits my in ground test dime at 9". A one way slight hit on 10" dime.
