Fantastic euphoric find, pure adrenaline that one is, congrats.

Thanks NJ,

I found it 100 yards in from the road in a 4.5 acre part of the field, not anywhere near where they told me it should be. The other person who lost it said it was on the other side of the highway in a field he owns as well! Definitely a needle in a haystack, it was a pure random chance ("lucky") find. The first 30 yards or so from the road is loaded with can slaw, had they lost it there it would have been lost forever. 😬

Shame it isn't worth as much now from being knocked around, but still the feeling was as good as a couple other coins I've found, and better for returning it.

Awesome!

A Gold coin is not going to make you richer but what you did will open doors for you and there is nothing better than gaining trust and havin cool spots to metal detect. Great find!

I dream of finding an old vase with a few goldies inside.

Thanks Skywatcher.

The landowner, a very wealthy man in his own right, is an old friend of my wife, I'm lucky to have got this permission. In the past 2 or 3 years we have dug many buttons, and there was a spot no one knew about that produced the decorated button I found above, ca. mid to late 1700s, and a lot of other buttons and relics. It's a unique farm that once had the main road running through it on the other side of the house.

This farm produced my first Barber Quarter, a couple of large cents and many other old coins. I even got a "Block C" Cavalry button from the civil war there.

Chase and I have wiped out a lot of it, but it's a big farm. There still may yet be some things to find, but it will take a lot of finding nothing before finding something. 🙂

I hope it does lead to other permissions. Certainly the story of it to a potential one might help.

Sadly I was driving when you texted me, almost crashed!!! I told you Karma has a way of helping you out. AS for others that say its not a Gold coin find WELL I tend to disagree. Being part of the so called club I could care less about the particulars of finding one. Finding any gold coin is a super win in my book. The other thing is how many would give it back to the owner. Like I always say, your a good man Bob!!!! Hope you don't bring your rabbit foot the next time 🤣🤣

Oh by the way anybody miss me?

Hey man, nothing I ever send is THAT important, don't text and drive 🤣

Whoo, it's been a helluva year! Lots of character tests.

I don't think it's the detector so much as the guidance and help and comraderie of you and others, from what you've shown me you've found you're one of the most respected detectorists in my book. Shame your area is sort of drying up (not just the lack of rain) and priorities are, well, priorities.

I hope sooner or later you start blowing the forum up with finds again. 🙂

Gold is gold in my book.  We all hope to find one, but you did!  If anything, it’s probably more special because it wasn’t just a lump of metal to be put in a protective sleeve - it was someone else’s lost heirloom.

Job well done!

Meh, moving on. Shame I had to inspire a dissenting/disparaging comment, I guess I'll have to start the Draped Bust Half Dime Club, and hang my own sign on the treehouse 🤣 Wait - that was worn as jewelry some 200 years ago! 🤯

Don't worry about him, the clubs are real and he was just not invited to join because of his remarks about people.

Great job on all your finds and keep up the good work.

Nice work 350! You’re maxed out with good Karma now so I suspect your relic season will be full of good finds.  You should have complete trust from that owner now…and don’t mind what Tom says he’s a good old boy I’ve met him once…He was just giving his opinion…and you did ask the question 🙂
