Gold Dozer
Congratulations Gold Catcher! It is so cool to see people that I have met in the field unearthing such amazing finds. It shows that hard work pays off. You are a very talented detectorist and this is a well deserved reward for you perseverance. 2
phrunt
I hope this run of gold continues for you, what was the depth? one and a half to 2 pin pointers deep? An absolute monster nugget, I'm sure you're motivating many in the US back into giving it another go 🙂 Very happy for you Gold Catcher, I really hope it doesn't fade out no nothing soon and lasts a while yet.

Hi Phrunt, thanks for your kind words! The nugget was around 2.5 feet deep (about 30 inch). It was barely audible at first, and had I not been wearing the headphones I likely would have missed it. A helping factor might have been that the ground was not super hard packed, that might have facilitated the transducing of the signal to the rather small 12x7 coil. I can't believe myself how much I found there in the past 4 times (about 3 oz), and I am kind of on cloud 9. But I have absolutely no delusion that all good things will come to an end eventually. But I am trying to enjoy as long as it lasts. I did recover quite a few square nails (old) the last time, so the virgin ground might not be as "virgin" as I thought it would be. 😀 GC

Love that machine! Aye the 6K is a wee spirited and frustrating at the post but comes across the finish line like the thoroughbred it is.... Northeast
I would guess you'll be heading there at some stage with the 7000 in General @Gold Catcher ?

It's just a bit of a hike and I am already carrying a big shovel and a long rake, next to my large pick. But for sure once the 6000 stops producing, the 7000 is next. I just have to figure out how to carry all this (mule? 😁) GC
Chet
GC, thank you for sharing your outstanding finds and experience. The 1849 miners would probably haul the tools into the area in a wheelbarrow; rake up all of the gold until the wheelbarrow was full; leave the tools; and head for the nearest salon. lol 2
