Joseph020
I come across remote mines all the time, and I'm just wondering what's the best way to research them, or find any information on them?

Clay Diggins
All of the Land Matters Mining Claim Maps have both the MRDS mines mapped as well as all the mining features extracted from topo maps. By selecting the "i" information tool and clicking on a mine site of interest a window will pop up with basic information on the mine as well as a link to all the gov data on the mine. Click that link and scroll to the bottom of the web page where you will see a list of the mine reports submitted on that mine. Copy and google search those mine reporters and you will have a wealth of historical in person reports on the mine. You will notice there are a lot of duplicates in the gov MRDS data. Often the duplicates have different locations. DO NOT rely on the mapped location of these mines, they are often off by 1/4 mile or more. To find the actual physical location of the mine you will need to use the topo mine symbols to find the location. Without both layers we've found the MRDS to be confusing at best. 2
