Nice, looking forward to your report.

The regular 20" CC was surprisingly sensitive to what I'd consider to be smaller stuff as it was, that's pretty cool if they made it even more so. Though I suppose there is also a practical limit on just how small of stuff you want to chase with a big coil. It'd be pretty cool if it has a good measurable amount of depth (over the non-spiral) for slightly bigger stuff like ~1g though too, at least in the US there is a lot of that stuff left in the ground still at like 12+ inches.

that's what I'm hoping, 1 gram and under at depths other coils can't reach would be perfect for me.

it's gushing down rain here at the moment, flooding going on everywhere, significant too, most rain we've had in a very long time so I can't go out and play with it to even try it out.

  • The title was changed to A New Concentric Coil On The GPZ For The Small Gold Hunters Out There

Good luck with the coil and I hope that it becomes your number 1 coil to find the smaller gold in your area.

Stay safe out there and good hunting.

Of interest to me is does it punch deeper on the sub grammers than the 12 spiral X coil, I know from experience on my ground the 17"Concentric X coil did not do so, I`m talking sub grammers not grammers. The 17"CXcoil had the depth edge on around 1 grammers up but not on subgrammers or specimens with fine gold.

The 12" Spiral X coil is by far the most productive Z coil I have. Most weight of total gold recovered in ground I`ve prospected is below 1 gram in weight and I suspect this is so in all fields unless that field only has deep ground that the sub grammers are beyond detecting depth to todays detecting tech.

I agree Norvic that the 12" Spiral is a top-notch coil for small gold, the best all-rounder for the purpose and If I could only have one coil that would likely be it as it has the benefits for bigger gold too along with the best small gold sensitivity, it's closely followed by the 15" CC though.  If it beats the 12" spiral, I'll be very impressed.  The 17" CC isn't the ideal small gold coil, the 15" CC is much more sensitive to small gold.

The 8" is great for its tiny size but the GPZ seems to tap out on tiny gold to the point the 12" spiral can equal the 8" on small gold, probably due to the 8" being bundle and the 12" being spiral.

I think the 12" doesn't get given much of a chance as it's so close in size to the stock coil so not a popular choice, but people couldn't be more wrong thinking it's not much different to having a stock coil, they're confused with another brand. 🙂

Sounds promising Phrunt. In relatively open and flat areas, it may be a winner. To find small nuggets at depth could also establish potentially new and untapped patches of gold with larger chunks hidden below. I could have used a coil like that in the past couple of months to help locate some deeper runs  that were not detectable from the surface with our current machine/ coil combinations.

I haven't had much of a chance to take the 20" CC out for a proper good spin yet, it's only had a few hours use mainly just messing around to get used to it unfortunately however that should change soon as I'm now hitting my gold detecting time of the year  Today I thought I'd check out the sorts of gold it will hit to give myself of an idea what I'd be dealing with before taking it for a proper full days detecting, trying to become more familiar with the coil.

It's feeling far lighter than I expected, for someone that's used to hunting with smaller coils the weight wasn't an issue at all, the size was more it's limiting factor however in the right environment it will be great, I know of some good areas to take it that are more wide open spaces, especially when the grass that's there dries off and dies down and I think it will prove a valuable coil in this sort of area, the problem I always seem to face is powerlines, they're winding their way through many of these gold areas and I guess that's partly why some of them still exist, if the high voltage lines were not there, they may be filled up with housing by now.  We're not a giant country like Australia, where they have empty land in abundance.

The little piece of gold in the video I say I think was 0.03 of a gram is in fact 0.048 of a gram so you might as well say 0.05 as I've checked that now.  I didn't' have a smaller bit with me, I'll have to check yet what size it will go down to before losing the target.

This was just filmed behind my house this morning; we've been having pretty shocking weather but it cleared up today so I was able to take it down and test it out.   It's a good testing spot as its loaded with hot rocks and has the high voltage lines so it gets me familiar with what I'll be dealing with when I take it to a proper good gold location as they're very similar.

The Concentric coils are great under power lines generally, I didn't quite expect a 20" to be as good as it is, I thought it would be pretty ratty under the lines but it was great.  As I was leaving, I thought I'd stop right under the lines and fire it up and see how well it detects the 0.048 of a gram bit of gold.  The biggest flashish bit was 0.262 of a gram

Something someone with a keen eye may spot is I didn't noise cancel when I went under the power lines, the same noise cancel number of 186 is on in my first video and the second, I didn't even noise cancel in the first video, it was running fine so I left it how it was from the previous use of the detector.

These are my usual video style, you see it as I see it the first time I'm seeing it, I just do raw as I see it footage, the nuggets I was putting over the coil I was seeing the results for the first time as it was on camera.  I like to keep my stuff raw unedited what I see is what you see type videos.

I'm really looking forward to giving this coil a proper spin at the spot I've got in mind, fingers crossed it can find me some gold that has been missed in the past by myself, JW and anyone else that's hit it hard, we sure have 🙂

This guy's video is cool with his kid getting into the action with a GPX, he finds a bit with his original version 20" CC which will remain the best version for bigger deeper gold.

You'll note the centre receive winding on this original version is bigger than on the new smaller gold version.  Cut that outside spiral wound transmit area off the new version and you've got a coil similar in size to the 8" which is the pinnacle of small gold on the GPZ.
