Bohemia Miner
I emailed Nokta about an update for this model. When you pair it to the included Wireless Speaker or the Green Headphones, the sound still emits through the Detector’s Speaker, defeating the purpose of having headphones and causing an “Echo”. I sent another one a while back and was told by Dilek that it was “Normal”. This was today’s response: “We appreciate your valuable feedback. However, as Mrs. Dilek mentioned, this is not considered a problem, and the Gold Finder 2000 has been discontinued. Therefore, we will not be making any changes or releasing updates for it.” Too bad! This is a great and less expensive alternative to the Gold Monster 1000. That leaves the Gold Kruzer as their only VLF Gold machine. I wonder what they’ll be replacing it with. The good news is that wired Headphones including those used with the adapter turn the Speaker off. The bad news is, we shouldn't have to use wired headphones with a wireless system. 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26845-gold-finder-2000-to-be-discontinued/ Share on other sites

Nokta’s Legend has already effectively replaced both the Gold Finder 2000 and the Gold Kruzer. The Legend’s prospecting mode whether used in Multi or 40 kHz performs at the same level in my testing and outperforms those two detectors in moderate to high iron mineralization. 6 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26845-gold-finder-2000-to-be-discontinued/#findComment-282991 Share on other sites

My testing showed the higher 61 kHz to outperform my Legend's 40 in my area. But, I don't have the hot ground that you do Jeff. On the other hand, forcing people to buy a multi-purpose machine when all they want is a Gold Prospecting detector isn't good Customer Service. Not everybody hunts everything! 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26845-gold-finder-2000-to-be-discontinued/#findComment-282994 Share on other sites

It will be interesting to see what approach Nokta takes when they replace the Legend. That has to happen in the not too distant future especially when Nokta said the latest V1.17 Legend software update is its last. I am a big fan of the Nokta Gold Kruzer. I just wish it was SMF instead of just single frequency. 3 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26845-gold-finder-2000-to-be-discontinued/#findComment-282995 Share on other sites

Not everybody hunts everything! I get that the Gold Finder 2000 is a simple to operate detector and is great for someone that doesn't want to spend their day wondering if they have it setup right. The Gold Kruzer on the other hand, is a lot more complicated and it can be used for way more than just gold prospecting with its multi tone mode. This is what I just don't understand...... I don't get the thinking that dedicated single frequency gold prospecting VLFs like the Gold Finder 2000 and Gold Kruzer are somehow automatically superior to a simultaneous multi frequency AND selectable single frequency detector with a real gold prospecting mode like the Legend. It just boggles my mind. The Legend actually has some similar and some better features for gold prospecting than the Gold Kruzer like single digit notching, recovery speed and iron filter adjustments, deep target boost, audio gain adjustments, threshold pitch and separate threshold volume vs target audio volume adjustments, a very accurate target ID system even when using its prospecting mode, depth meter, pinpoint function, mineralization meter and for me anyway, the best ferrous/non ferrous probability meter I have ever used. It can also be hunted in its M2 mode in 2 tone VCO for gold prospecting very effectively. Plus I have never experienced my Legend going into overload on really hot ground and if you happen to be gold prospecting in a viable relic area, the Legend easily has that covered too. 6 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26845-gold-finder-2000-to-be-discontinued/#findComment-283005 Share on other sites
Matt4gold
I wonder if you can plug a head phone jack adapter into the 2000 and then pair wireless head phones, by chance the adapter will turn off the speaker without having a set of wired head phones plugged in? If you have the audio adapter cable for wired headphones, can you screw on the cable to silence the onboard speaker? With my Legend, just screwing on the audio adapter cable silences the onboard speaker and still lets the wireless headphones work at the same time. 2 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26845-gold-finder-2000-to-be-discontinued/#findComment-283007 Share on other sites

I swing the Legend and agree. The Prospecting mode on today's MF detectors is as good as any stand-alone VLF Gold Machine. However, a single high-frequency will find smaller sub-grain gold. Other features aside, when it comes to sensitivity, the 45 kHz Gold Monster will beat the Legend set @ 40. The 61 kHz GF2K or Gold Kruzer will outperform the Monster, and the Gold Bug 2 will still top them all! The Gold Monster has replaced the GB2 as the highest-selling unit in the US today. Most likely because it’s simpler to use. The folks that buy them, just want a Metal Detector for Natural Gold! They don’t hunt Coins, Jewelry, or Relics. 2 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26845-gold-finder-2000-to-be-discontinued/#findComment-283041 Share on other sites
