Popular Post Gerry in Idaho
Thanks GC for posting your reverse signal find with a GPX-6000 as it desired me to share a video for some of the newer swingers out there. The majority of gold 98% of what I have recovered in my 30 yrs of chasing the heavy metal...with Minelab PI detectors and including the GPZ-7000, usually have the normal "Wee-You" or High to Low signal response. This is great knowledge to know as in many locations, the Low to High response is trash and or ground mineral noise. Walking away from those signals has saved me so much time and energy and actually put more gold in my pouch. I have said it before, that I prefer to play the odds and I usually do better when playing the odds than many others who I hunt with. Now on occasion and in areas of thicker chunky gold and or larger gold, I do have to make adjustments and so I dig more trash and more ground minerals (false signals). Now at Rye Patch area, the majority of my digs are not trash. Heck I find very little trash at all and if I were to dig 10 times, it would result in 8 nuggets. But I know RP well and I also know certain areas of RP that has a much greater amount of ground mineralization. Those tricky broad reverse signals could possibly be a bigger chunk at depth? Here's a hint for those folks who encounter such site with that occasional False Signal. Do a quick Timing Adjust and most of the time the so called iffy signals will go away. When I first learned of the reverse signal in the 90's, I was in Easter Oregon with a customer, had found a chunky 2/3rd oz solid nugget. He and I were so pissed of that the target was reverse, we thought something was wrong with our detectors. I even called Minelab USA back then and they had no clue what I was talking about. They reached out to Australia who then informed me of such. So we learned. This old video I did shows the odd and rare gold "Reverse Signal". Then I use a nickel to show the standard proper "Gold Response" so many of us are used to. Just curious how many DP members have found the rare Reverse Signal and it turned out to me GOLD. Would love to see some of your Success pics. Who could only imagine what that 1 pounder is worth in today's $2700+ range. Then add the collectors value and it could purchase a new rig. 21 4 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26865-reverse-signals-and-sometimes-you-dont-want-to-walk-away/ Share on other sites
Popular Post flakmagnet
I have - many times - gotten a reverse signal and had it turn out to be gold…I know others who have had that happen too…So much so that it seems to be an accepted way the detector reacts to certain kinds of gold. I have found this to be true with the 4500 the 5000 and the GPZ. That is an astounding photo Gerry... 10 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26865-reverse-signals-and-sometimes-you-dont-want-to-walk-away/#findComment-283174 Share on other sites

Often if you switch from difficult to normal or vice-versa before starting the dig, that reverse signal becomes a "normal" signal.... 3 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26865-reverse-signals-and-sometimes-you-dont-want-to-walk-away/#findComment-283187 Share on other sites
Dutchman4
Is that why there is an "inverse" setting on the 4000 for the "Deep" search mode? 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26865-reverse-signals-and-sometimes-you-dont-want-to-walk-away/#findComment-283198 Share on other sites
Gold Ryder
On Gold Seeker 5000 and mine's claims big gold will invert regular. It gets the blood pumping. The 6000 has its own language as you know. Im about 90% guessing on the bird bird shot sound, the high twang of a square nail, the funky woo woo of hot ground, the wobble of wire, and the sweet sweet roll off the peak of gold. But of course I dig it all because every one of those sounds turns into gold occasionally. I will say that since Ive started to drag along my Manticore and recently slung it on my shoulder like a rifle while running the 6000 its saved me some digging. So far its been spot on for Iron trash. 3 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26865-reverse-signals-and-sometimes-you-dont-want-to-walk-away/#findComment-283200 Share on other sites

Gerry in Idaho
Flakmagnet - Glad to know you are finding more than most. I guess if I look back at it, I too... may have more than most. But, I sure feel when I recover 100 gold finds and only 1 or 2 of those are Reverse, that's pretty rare in my books. Norvic - You are spot on my friend and thanks for bring that up. Just a simple switch of the Timing can reverse a targets "signature" response. Yes, those soft low and wide sounds bring the kid out in us. Sure wish more folks could enjoy that wonderful experience. Dutchman4 - Most certainly is. Even some of the other detectors (including the GPZ-7000), the "signature" target response will invert, when Timing is changed. Gold Ryder - Yes there are areas that produce a good amount of solid dense nuggets and the Reverse Signal is the norm. I just don't find that many of those sites in my regions and styles of hunts. I agree 100% and have preached to the choir many times the importance of a VLF detector strapped to your back or sitting near by. At my age, I need to save all the energy of digging deep trash holes as much as I can. Lunk - I know you have dug a few of those giddy Reverse Signals. That one time we were in AZ and you found the one in the pics below, I don't recall, was it a Reverse Low to High? Although it is a little porous in character. EVERYONE - I'm a little bummed as I expected to see more pics of those elusive Reverse Low High digs. Come on folks, I know a few of you have done so. You don't have to share your location or coordinates (at least not publicly).😏 9 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26865-reverse-signals-and-sometimes-you-dont-want-to-walk-away/#findComment-283212 Share on other sites

dirtman
2.49 Ounces of the Good Stuff. 👍🤠😁 Recovered from some of the most compacted combo of big rock and dirt I ever dug thru in Az. Been trying to break that weight record for a find for 13 years 🤠. 8 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26865-reverse-signals-and-sometimes-you-dont-want-to-walk-away/#findComment-283232 Share on other sites
