phrunt
I've been forced by the boss on the rainy day yesterday to go through some of my stuff and have a clear out. I've had boxes of detecting stuff I don't use anymore shes wanting me to dispose of and I came across some Garrett headphones, not sure where they came from maybe when I bought my Ace machines or something, maybe they were thrown in I just don't remember how I got them, they don't look like they'd come with a detector in a retail package like that. I'm not much of a headphone's person, I've never even used my 6000's headphones nor my Manticores. Are these any good if anyone has used them? The ones on the right look like they do noise cancelling by that little description down the bottom of the packaging unless they just have big foam muffs that block out sound and its marketing at work? 🙂 One are branded ClearSound while the others are TreasureSound. JCR
I think they are probably good general use detector HPs for casual hunters. They sure would beat none at all. I remember @Keith Southernsaying he liked the Clear Sound ones. Why do you not often use HPs? I can't imagine effectively hunting without them. 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26923-garrett-headphones-any-good/#findComment-283669 Share on other sites

I use the Torus neck speaker or a speaker on the detector/attached to the detector. I have a big issue with things on my ears, I just don't like it 🙂 3 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26923-garrett-headphones-any-good/#findComment-283675 Share on other sites
Rick N. MI
I like the Garrett MS-2 headphones with the 1/4" jack. It has volume control. I like the sound and quality seems good. They are only $25. Incredible for the price. I haven't used the clearsound. They look good. 2 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26923-garrett-headphones-any-good/#findComment-283683 Share on other sites
snakejim
They are good inexpensive headphones. Map is $21.29 on the ClearSound and $16.95 on the TreasureSound. 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26923-garrett-headphones-any-good/#findComment-283687 Share on other sites

I prefer the supplied ML headset, but then I can't hear what's around me, or what's creeping up on me...The problem is just that when I run the 6000 on max gain the torus does give a lot of EMI when I come close to the coil with the scoop during recovery. I try to stay away from the coil with my arm fully extended when I swipe the scoop over the coil, but even then it interferes a lot, to a point where I have missed small gold because I could not hear it in the midst of the "EMI moaning". GC That is very true, you have to be careful with the Torus, sometimes I even take it off and sit it on the ground when I'm doing recoveries. It gives a lot of EMI problems with the detector when near to the coil. 2 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26923-garrett-headphones-any-good/#findComment-283697 Share on other sites

If you need lightweight headphones with an integrated volume control, the ClearSound at least is actually a pretty decent headphone in my experience. Never used the other so can't say. 2 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26923-garrett-headphones-any-good/#findComment-283735 Share on other sites
kac
Clear sounds aren't too bad but hurt my ears, the MS-2 are much more comfortable. If you want lightweight on ear then snag a pair of the XP orx headphones. They hang in back of your head so walking under brush and branches they don't get knocked off. I favor the XP style over all the others I had tried especially in the hot summer months.
