IBMe
Probably most around here already know, but for newer folks, such as me, it might come as a shock to learn that there was a talking detector. 2 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26942-talking-detector/ Share on other sites
Geotech
It was so widely disliked they eventually removed the feature. It was pretty awful to listen to. 4 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26942-talking-detector/#findComment-283800 Share on other sites
Bill (S. CA)
Carl is spot on. I used one and it was really terrible. 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26942-talking-detector/#findComment-283807 Share on other sites
Rattlehead
I remember it. It was called "Treasure Talk" or something like that. No thanks. I go detecting to get away from talking. 😂 4 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26942-talking-detector/#findComment-283808 Share on other sites
Lodge Scent
What other "unpopular" or ridiculous gimmicks have been foisted on the detecting community over the years? How about the camouflaged detectors? Never made any sense to me. I want to find my detector after I put it down. 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26942-talking-detector/#findComment-283863 Share on other sites
phrunt
Black coils on the PI gold prospecting detectors, they get so hot you can barely touch them and I'm not even in an extremely hot climate, I can only imagine outback Australia, crazy idea. I guess at the time of this Treasuretalk detector Tv shows like Knight Rider were popular with the talking car, I remember when they first got "real sound" on computers and it was the coolest thing on earth to hear your computer talk, I played Golf games just to hear my computer talking... Looks like he........ hit the tree, Jim, the Treasure talk detector was likely celebrating this new talking technology capability more so than being a viable feature, just something they thought was cool because they could do it. 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26942-talking-detector/#findComment-283879 Share on other sites
Knomad
I could do without the Talking. But I generally like the interface, and the size function. Make it fast Multi Frequency with that interface and functions, add Prospecting and it would be a Upper Class detector even today. IBMe
Obviously, the talking thing is a bad gimmick. This is the video where I discovered the attempt at a talking detector. He paid a lot and not happy. The target size, if well implemented, looks generally useful. I dig by size which I get from tight swings. Tabs and caps have a wide sound profile. 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26942-talking-detector/#findComment-283895 Share on other sites
locator
Well, that's old hat. It was even available on the 1992 Garrett Master Hunter CXIII. I would call it technology that was ahead of its time. 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/26942-talking-detector/#findComment-284047 Share on other sites
