That’s a pretty ring. Opal stone?

Nice save on the ring, and it looks like the stone is fake as it looks like it may be glued in the setting.

I hope it's real but it's a nice ring any way it goes.

I was wondering if the stone would fall out when I soaked the ring in muriatic acid for cleaning. Solidly in there. GF gladly took the ring for her collection!

Given that muriatic acid dissolves limestone (Calcium Carbonate), I wonder if that could also dissolve certain semi-precious stones....  Seems risky but it apparently worked fine for this ring.

According to my jewelry expert (my wife 😅) Submerged/buried opals can "white out" a bit. She offers no science, but I don't take her wisdom for granted 😬
