Weather is wet and cold here in NW Arkansas, so I been reading the forums and watching videos

Question for those that own the Triple Score. Is it stable, or is it noisy and sparky. I read that some owners are not happy because it is to noisy, but on another forum the owners say it is stable as can be

So guys tell me about your Triple Score

  • The title was changed to Is The Triple Score Stable?

I didn't answer earlier because I thought maybe this question was a joke.

I hoped somebody else would take a shot at your question.

I guess it depends on what forums you are looking at. If they are Facebook forums then good luck with that. There are lots of beginners, newbies to simultaneous multi frequency VLFs and haters that like to dump on Nokta or just cause trouble on Facebook. For the beginners and newbies to SMF, sure if they are trying to detect in high EMI  and high ground noise environments with sensitivity too high the Triple Score or any of these newer high powered SMFs may chatter like crazy.

Most of the YouTube video people that know what they are doing are very impressed with the Triple Score and the recent software update has made them even better.

The Score series are three detectors based on the Legend with less features.

There was an issue with the Legend software download procedure for V1.11 that caused some instability and depth loss due to some incompatible USB drivers corrupting the software download. I haven't heard anything about that happening to the Triple Score or any Score model but maybe I missed it.

A friend of mine has a Triple Score and I got to hunt with it side by side with my Legend. I did not notice any instability with that Triple Score or with my Legend during that short comparison.

So, maybe you can be more specific about the sources that caused you to start this topic.

Thanks for the info Jeff,

I have been looking at the Triple Score and it is a lot of bang for the buck. I and also looking at the X-TERRA Elite, it seems close in performance, plus a lot more coil selection

Now the Garrett Vortex is about to be released, so I am waiting to see what it offers. A lot of new detectors on the market, gonna be a great Christmas

For me at my age, I don't want to remember a lot of details or do mental math when I'm detecting so I tend to use detectors that have similar target ID numbers at least for the low to mid conductor range. So I gravitate to detectors that I don't have to jump through hoops to decipher what they are telling me target ID and tone wise.

The Triple Score and Elite are both really excellent, inexpensive detectors from what I have experienced and in the right hands they are very stable and dependable. I bet the Vortex will be too when it is released soon.

Ditto to this. I joined the Legend FB group and found it way too "noisy" to be of use. Lots of chatter, lots of repetitive complaints, and light on solid advice. This place is much better and has roughly 99% less drama than FB.

While I haven't run the Triple Score, it's a slightly dialed down version of my primary machine, the Legend. Yeah, it'll get chatty in a high EMI environment, but you just can't be afraid to drop the sensitivity to quiet it down. (And always noise cancel, of course.) It's the folks who feel compelled to max out the sensitivity setting in every location who are going to run into problems, but it's 100% an outcome of choice on their part.

I contacted Garrett yesterday and they said that they are planning on releasing the Vortex around Thanksgiving, that is the best answer they could give me

So hopefully within the next 3 weeks. I live close to the Bass Pro Shop, in NW Arkansas, when the Minelab X-TERRA was released, they were the first to get them in stock. Hopefully they will be the first to get the Vortex
