Thanks for sharing the video as it helps most people to do a better job at panning, not just the younger people.

That is the way my grandfather taught me several years ago and it's nice to refresh my memory to better my skills. Some times I get lazy and want to rush things, so watching this keeps me in check not to rush.

When I started panning it was with a metal pan and later in years with a Garrett plastic pan . What a pleasure it was to use one of them for the first time.

Mr. R.R. Sir

You must stop by my camp sometime. We'll have a bit of a panning competition, then we'll have a gold pan bread baking contest. I would drive out your way but my truck battery is dead and I seem to have misplaced the crank.

I don’t know where to find you but if you can come to the middle of Texas I’ll give you directions on finding my house. I still got some of that Nome gold we can pan . I think that’s the only gold I’ve seen that’s smaller than a fly speck.

My thinking some years back I’d marry a woman lots younger than me and this way when I got old she could take care of me. I had this all planned and what she do was take a bad fall about 6 years back. Now I’m taking care of her. That just shows you you can’t trust nobody. To top it off my mother at 102 would like me to come down to where she lives to visit her each day.

I went in the AF in 61 and was stationed out of Merced at Castle AFB from 61to64 then went to Thule G. for my last year.

You lucky to have a crank because I just got a pull rope.

I was born in 41 and when I popped my head out they handed me a rifle and said boy you’re old enough.
I’m going to get off of here before I tell a lie .

I especially prefer a steel pan for flour type gold.

It sounds like you are where you need to be, so be at peace with that.

Maybe we should have a lie telling contest. But I warn you, I've haven't lost one yet.

Grandfather taught me to use a metal pan first and then he bought me a plastic Garret pan.

I really don't know which is the best, but I do know that a person has to use them just a little different for the best results.

I still have both pans and use them both on a regular basis when I go for the gold in the creeks.
