  • The title was changed to XP Announces New HF Coil For Deus 2

I wonder if it will require a new update to be utilized.

Most likely since they are calling it "HF" FMF it most likely utilizes >45 khz frequency options (both single frequencies and perhaps also FMF cutoff frequencies) that don't currently exist in the present SW version.  The two-box coil required an update, as well.

I did hear something to that effect on the interview that hinted at it a few months ago.

There are some improvements that wouldn't hurt, like getting lead out of the coin range (which might be difficult), allowing all audio types possible through the bone conduction headphones, but it's been working great for me both at the beach and in the fields. Radical changes might be ill-advised, but I have no doubt it will be a winner, and should take us to the "next level". 🙂

I kinda hope it's late for selfish reasons, I just ordered a deus 2 for black Friday, I'd like to get the coil just as the snow melts, so I can have some of the first videos on it

I hope it's the same size as the deus elliptical coil as it's my favourite coil size and shape for trashy parks

I also hope it has the same bottlecaps/iron tone as the deus coil, the kinda grindy sound that's impossible to miss, the only problem.is I still dig those tones cause in Canada it could be clad and not a bottlecap

I’m saving up to get one as soon as they are available.  Does anyone know if the battery is in the coil, or up in the lower rod like the Deus elliptical coil.

99% sure it is in the lower rod based on connecting the dots and what XP reps and others have inferred in interviews and posts.  It should be submersible but likely not dive rated like the other D2 coils, which is fine with me.

Redneck --

I am not sure at this point how this would work.  This is the first I've heard (from Chase) that the batteries will likely be in the lower rod, and I have never seen one of the D1 HF coils, and their lower rods, to see what kind of battery it is, how it fits inside the lower rod, and how it attaches to the coil from inside the lower rod.  It's just a setup that I'm not at all familiar with (not being a Deus user myself).  So, at this point, I'm in a "wait and see" mode, also.  If the batteries DO end up being located inside the lower rod (with the new D2 HF coil), I will certainly be looking to see whether there's a way to install them into one of my lowers, as well.

If anyone else has any information or thoughts, I'm interested to hear.
