I think most detectorists suffer from the latest and greatest syndrome.  Well, I know I certainly suffer with such an affliction.  Also, all those glossy tantalising detecting magazines don’t help either and I think they should come with a financial warning or something!   Anyway, after my confession of being a recovering detector-holic, it brings me nicely round to my revisitation to the Nokta Impact Pro.

I bought the Noktra Impact Pro when it was first released.  However, back then I was selling and swapping detectors like changing socks and didn’t use it sufficiently to form a proper opinion other that it definitely had potential.   I recently saw one advertised for sale at a super bargain price which came with 3 coils.  Needless to say, I relapsed and instantly bought it.  I’m really glad I did, as the nuances in the audio are fantastic.  Especially with quality wired headphones, as opposed to using the wireless ones.  I already own SMF detectors, so the downgrade to single frequency selection was no big deal.  In fact, on the contrary I love the sizzle of the powerful single frequences when you locate a target, which is something you don’t always experience using a SMF detector.  The Nokta Impact is undoubtedly a very powerful metal detector with plenty more in the tank when you want to kick it up a notch.

I also view the Impact, as one of Nokta’s finest offerings.  They put in a lot of labour of love to bring it to the market.  Almost like they were making a statement to the detecting world that they made quality metal detectors and they wanted everybody to know it.  The build quality is second to none and I’ve certainly owned enough metal detectors to formulate that opinion.

The nuances in the Impact audio definitely seem to paint a 3D pointillism style picture in my minds eye when I wave the coil across a target.  That sort of gel you always imagined metal detecting to be about.  Where your brain dissects the nuances in the audio and you don’t need no numbers or screens to formulate a dig or not dig decision.

The Impact might not be the ideal metal detector for everyone.  But it has certainly brought back the pleasure of metal detecting to me that I somehow started to lose when I was always chasing the latest and greatest machines available.  Fitted with the IM19 coil, it’s like using an archaeological paint brush to unearth hidden history!  For such a tiny coil it has unbelievable depth.  I was also surprised to see Nokta still has the Impact Pro listed for sale in their current available selection.  I suppose much like the White’s V3i which have also recently acquired.  I don’t think we’ll ever see another detector quite like the Nokta Impact with its 12 separate search modes ever again.  Plus, I forgot to mention I’ve also owned the Anfibio Multi before, but I still prefer the nuances in the Nokta Impact audio.  Thanks for reading my revisitation exploit.

I completely agree.  I really like & respect my Anfibio Multi. I have 6 different coils for it. Very powerful, versatile & nuanced.  In milder soil it can hold it’s own against any.   I still use it some on the right site. I won’t be getting rid of it.

When I got the Anfibio, apart from the waterproofing, I still preferred the Impact. But as I got more use on the Anfibio, I started to like it more and more. Made no sense in keeping both but I couldn't decide which to offload, and as a result I didn't sell either haha.

I really like VLX2 on the Impact which isn't on the Anfibio, as it works well in more mineralised soils.

I have always been intrigued by the VLX2 & VLX1? modes.

I still think "Flagship" when look at or use my Impact.    I really like the adjustable tone breaks.    I got a post on here somewhere where I configured 20 kHz DEEP to mimic the F19, with a high tone for high conductors.  I'll hunt it up and re-post the settings here.

From my Impact review write up

......VLX modes. These are lower gain modes, for a quieter detecting experience. I have found they also perform well in mineralised soils. Even some of the suburban areas have heavy clay soils, and VLX1 works great. VLX2 is a low gain 4-tone mode, but is slightly deeper than VLX1 but still offers improved stability, and target ID's are very stable as well. VLX2 mode is probably the best all-round mode on the Impact, particularly if you have mineralised soils.

Also worth adding that the VLX modes use a 1-40 ferrous scale.
