No, no, no! Scuff covers are a must. As a long time beach and water hunter you do NOT want to "sandpaper" expensive coils!!!! It's not weight it is water resistance. Build some muscle!

More often than not with the Minelab spoke coils on the beach I'll go without.  I've never worn through one.

When I went back to my SE Pro a few months back it gave me tennis elbow!  It is not a condition to get so it can be more than the exercise in many cases.

Hunting in the wet at Laguna yesterday I really noticed when the coil got underwater/wet it really increases the weight. Guys are cutting supports off the Manticore 11” but I bet they are also removing the cover.  Just removing the cover alone might be noticeable.

Cut the M11 supports--yes.-----Remove the coil cover---no, no, no!

I've become proficient at swinging the ETrac both left and right-handed. That helps avoid some of the injury issues. We MDers also seem to have a hard time taking breaks. 😅

My Nox coil covers were so tight that removing them for cleaning risked breakage every time . When I received the Manticore the  scuff cover was so loose that every time it bumped something it would fall off . I should have cable tied it on I suppose . One day it fell off without me noticing and it's still out there somewhere . 18 months using it on the beach and in the bush without that cover does not seem to have worn it very much . With all the bush bashing I do I reckon the coil will fail at the cable entry first [ as have several of my coils] before it wears out . Maybe it will be me that will wear out first !
